The hotel is located in a picturesque peninsula and has a vast and pretty clean beach with soft white sand. Crossing the Bentota river in a boat to enter the hotel is fantastic experience. But to be honest the travellers must be aware that the hotel is shaggy and unclean, it requires renovation. I attach some pictures from the family room. The food in the restaurant tastes and looks good, but it's rather monotonous. No white wine available, only one type of red wine in the restaurant and in the bar. In the main restaurant the staff is concerned mostly about not letting any food be carried out by children rather than serving tables. You can't expect an extra clean fork or spoon, you will be advised to eat your desert with a dirty one. We kept on experiencing total blackout in the room (lights went off in the room several times every day without a certain reason), and we had to fix it. It was rather annoying. The water in the bathroom sink was not going through and stayed in the sink. Cigarette butts were not cleaned up at the sunbed area near the pool. I'm not too picky and demanding, but I can hardly recommend a hotel that fails to meet such basic expectations. Be it 3, 4 or 5 star. Sorry.

A great hotel with a great variety of cuisine. In addition to local cuisine, fruits and sweets, there is always European cuisine. The rooms are cleaned daily. Water, tea, sugar, coffee and milk powder are always available in the room. A restaurant with access to the veranda and a view of the river. A monitor lizard is on duty under the veranda, waiting for food). I really liked the hotel. And it's not bugs that bite there, of course, but local midges. And people's reactions are different, someone has a vivid reaction and they all itch (there are few of them), others have nothing. Apparently the immune system is stronger. You can take antihistamines. And yes, our mosquito repellents don't really work on them. We were vacationing with a friend, she was significantly bitten, I'm not there. In general, I recommend the hotel. We liked everything!)
