During the Soviet period, Tkvarcheli (at that time it was called Tkuarchal) was one of the main cities of the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus.
It was the second most populous city after Sukhumi, and several coal mining companies worked here. According to a few residents, then there was a lot of life here, there was a lot of work, people came and stayed. Even in the early 90s of the last century, the city lived a full life. And during the military conflict, he showed selfless resistance and did not surrender to the enemy.
Surprisingly, I liked this place. It's scary to walk inside, but the view of the GRES is not bad.
