A magnificent museum combining beautiful palace interiors and modern 3 D installations)
Plus, a very nice aquarium, a leisurely exploration of all the halls requires an hour and a half, then you can relax in the gardens of St. Martin)
In principle, the oceanographic museum of Monaco is not a bad one, but compared to the aquarium in Barcelona and even more so in Shanghai, the aquarium in Monaco looks pretty pale!

I like this museum. It makes sense to hang up every time. The expositions are diverse. Once, its management was in the hands of Jacques-Yves Cousteau, who was familiar to many. Thank you.
A great place for a family visit. For moms – an aquarium with fish, for children – a full–size replica of a submarine in the form of a barrel in a section that you can climb into, for dads - a restaurant on the roof). There is also a small zoo with a children's area on the roof behind the restaurant. The aquarium occupies the entire area of the ground floor. The rest of the exposition is quite archaic, since it has been collected for the last 130 years, but it is regularly updated. The museum is located at the opposite end of Monaco-Ville from the Prince's palace and practically overhangs the sea. From the roof there is a perfect panorama of the whole of Monaco. Seagulls can be fed and they are as sleek as all the other inhabitants there). They say that at night, the shadow of Cousteau himself is especially late for visitors to the restaurant). But this is not accurate.
There is ample parking, which is important.. An interesting exposition. Both adults and children will like it. Stunning view from the terrace...on the sea, and on the turtles.
And here I am, a simple and non-Russian guy, halfway to the second million, and I think: * Who will let me into this Monaco? Where it is so beautiful and there are many tempting riches for billionaires*. Well, at least let there be a decent place on the page, respectable and expensive. Of course, the native side is the most expensive, but if you count in escave (they are also conventional units or hard currency)... In general, Alexey Fedorychev and Monaco... the topic is bitter. For me. * Forbes *, mix it up just once!
So, the famous Monaco Oceanographic Museum, respectfully called by experts the Palace of the Sea. It was founded by Prince (and in our opinion *Prince*) Albert (as it turned out) the First. Prince Albert is considered one of the founders of the science of the sea. A researcher of the life of the depths of the sea, seas and oceans -- currents, temperatures, salinity... Participant of numerous expeditions, on his own, built to his order, sailing and motor ships *Swallow*, and later * Swallow 2*.
A museum hanging over the water itself. On the pediment are the names of the famous oceanographic ships of the world. The Palace is decorated with figures of the patrons of the sea. The Museum has a collection of aquatic flora and fauna from almost all over the world. Everything here amazes and pleases both curious visitors and professionals. Aquarium on the ground floor: a huge hall for visitors, and along the perimeter there are numerous aquarium chambers with sea or fresh water. There are showrooms on the upper floors of the Museum. And, of course, the Museum's richest library.
An oceanographic Institute has been established at the Museum, and the Institute has been officially attached to the Museum. And together they are subordinated to the Paris Oceanographic Institute. (We will not go into the details of the Monegasque-French bureaucracy. It is necessary, so it is necessary). The laboratories are at the water's edge, at the sea's edge. According to experts, their equipment is the best in the world.
The development of the Museum and the Institute was facilitated not only by strong funding throughout their existence and the absence of all kinds of obstacles that officials usually create (as, for example, was the case with the Sevastopol Biological Station during the reign of tsarism), but also by the appointment of Jacques Yves Cousteau as director in 1957. His team - colleagues, associates, like-minded people, participants in underwater dives, skillful and brave divers - they are also deputies at the Museum and the Institute when Cousteau went on new expeditions, heads of laboratories, authors of books about the world of the seas. They have prepared a powerful shift of their students, which allows the Museum to remain a leader in *marine* research activities.
Everyone knows Monaco from casinos. But Cousteau lived and worked here. Descendants, I think, will more often associate these places with his name. The casino is a very reprehensible institution from the point of view of Eternity.
It is very beautiful and interesting. The only thing that upsets is that all the signs are in English, French, etc. But in Russian-no!!! Although we have heard a lot of Russian speech.
Everything was quite interesting. Starting with an aquarium on the two lower floors, an outdoor swimming pool with turtles and upper halls with trophies.

Actually, it's interesting, but they really didn't find anything about Cousteau. In addition, they came out of the aquariums completely stupefied. Only now I realized from the article that this is because there is not enough air. Unfortunately, we didn't know about the terrace.

Impressions of the museum are still there, although several years have passed. The interior, the aquarium, everything is beautiful. Alas, there was no information in Russian.

It's a wonderful museum, unusual, but without a Russian guide it's hard to understand what it is and why.
