The first time I saw the Odessa Academic Theater was at the age of 11 or 12 during a school trip. We were then taken to museums, theaters and other attractions of Odessa. During this tour, I learned that this theater is not much inferior to the famous Viennese one in terms of its acoustics and decoration. In the Odessa Museum, we were shown the famous collection of Scythian gold and other famous exhibits. And already in the two thousandth years, my wife and I rushed to Odessa for the weekend. Of course, this was no longer the Odessa of my childhood, but it was still quite Odessa Odessa. Russian Russian has not yet occurred, people have not died in the House of Trade Unions, the Russian language in Odessa could be heard on any corner and for the fact that you speak Russian, you have not been reprimanded or sent in the other direction. Odessa has always been a Russian-speaking city with its own unique Odessa flavor. It's a pity that Odessa is already different. Will I ever see the city of my childhood? I don't know. But I really hope so...
I do not even know to believe that the air conditioning system in the theater was with the help of ice that was brought to the basement under the auditorium, but so writes one of the sources on the Internet. As far as I know, the usual practice historically is air conditioning with fountains located near the building. I suppose there are a lot of legends related to the building.
A delightful place. The building is of the most magnificent beauty both outside and inside.I've remembered it for my whole life!!!!!I was in the theater at the age of 12.....

Very impressed! We watched the ballet "Romeo and Juliet". It is worth visiting and admiring. Magnificent decoration, all in gold and velvet, frescoes and stucco. Superr
I was at the Odessa Opera House in 1964. It was only opened after the restoration. The theater is gorgeous! The design and interior are at a very high level. You could just walk around and admire. I listened to Donizetti's opera Lucia di Lamermoor. My classmate Nelya Tkachenko sang Lucia well.
It is a very ancient building, decorated with statues of angels around the entire circumference of the roof. The interior design is very elegant. Of particular interest is the two-ton chandelier, which is attached by chains to the ceiling.
My youth was spent in this majestic city, they don't write songs about it anymore, they don't make up legends, but the truth also sounds in old songs - there is no city better than Odessa! And the Odessa Opera House (as we students simply called it half a century ago) is a precious diamond adorning this wonderful city, radiating a sense of magic and celebration. It is anxious and bright, like in a Temple...
The interior is of absolutely unprecedented beauty, one of the most beautiful in the world! A must-visit! They will give you a lot in the performances, but from an architectural point of view it is an unforgettable aesthetic pleasure that cannot be neglected!
The theater is very beautiful, with a strong troupe! We were at the opera Carmen.Beautiful voices, very good orchestra and choir, but the direction is both laughter and sin ... but .. the music of the heroic J.Bizet smoothed everything out)
Probably, along with the monument to Duke, one of the most recognizable and visited places in Odessa. The beautiful architecture, the chic atmosphere, the large hall, the majestic chandelier - it's all very cool. I had a chance to see the wonderful operas of Giselle, the Barber of Seville, Turandot there. We watched the classic Swan Lake from the ballet. I liked everything very much, except for the cosmic prices in the buffet and the temperature of the hall in winter (it was pretty cool).
