Africa…
Don't expect too much…
3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
The local flavor prevails!
A cozy room with a terrace.
A gorgeous bed.
Having a free safe in the room is a huge plus.
Conditioner.
Electric kettle .
Cups.
A bottle of drinking water .
Tea and coffee were replenished.
Daily high-quality room cleaning.
Change of linen and towels every 2 days.
Combined shower and bathroom.
There is a hair dryer.
Shower gel, shampoo.
There is a small swimming pool on site.
A huge disadvantage is the location /among residential buildings/ , VERY compact!
3 minutes walk to the beach.
The hotel has its own sun beds on the beach/guarded/
Beach towels are provided free of charge.
On the beach, it is very annoying to have a huge number of locals, merchants, dancers, in the ocean. a huge number of fishing boats, scooters.
Constant tides…
The ocean is warm and clean.
There is a current.
You can go once.…
Vacationed in Zanzibar in July 2024, in the Tropicana Kendwa. The hotel has a super, cozy, homely atmosphere. The ocean is nearby, 5 minutes walk away. The staff is very friendly and will always come to the rescue.I really liked everything. You are looking for some advantages in rest and there will be happiness.
We have just returned from this wonderful island.
It is difficult to write briefly about the island itself. It's forever. According to the hotel: do not have high expectations, these are not Turkish fives. But there is a daily cleaning service, there is a conde. A refrigerator for $ 10 for the entire period. There are 2 buildings. The main Beach and the second one 20 meters behind it is Anex. Take Anex. There will be a private terrace or access to the pool. The terrace is better.
The breakfasts are varied. No frills. Eat and go explore the world of Africans.
We recommend taking tours from Pablo, who works on the beach by the sun loungers. Firstly, he makes them cheaper than the guide, and secondly they are individual. This is super important, because we have seen what a horror it is in common with 20+ people per square meter...
If you need contacts, I will write, because there is also the experience of those who took elsewhere and stayed on the negative.
Be sure to take a safari. It is enough for 1 day in Selous. A 3-in-1 tour is also required. The rest is as it turns out. Go to the turtle on Nungwi in the morning at low tide on foot. There's a 1:20 hour drive with super pics on the way. And after the turtles, there must be a zoo next to a Russian-speaking guide.
This trip to Zanzibar was our most expensive trip, and in fact we got the following:
The only advantage is the hotel room (overlooking the pool).
The other disadvantages are periodic shutdowns of lights and water, repairs and drilling of rooms for tourists, lack of towels and their dirty appearance, the presence of a huge number of flies and wasps at breakfast, a poor selection of dishes, 4 cases of simultaneous poisoning in the hotel, shabby sun beds and leaky mattresses.
Choose other hotels if you don't want to ruin your vacation.
All over the island: an unsafe ocean with hedgehogs and blowfish, fish, stars and snakes. Pesky Maasai, local. Unsanitary conditions, dirt. And someone is still being treated for malaria.
If comfort is at least a little important to you, avoid this hotel. I'm going to tell you how much fun we had on vacation here, so that you definitely won't repeat our mistakes.
Staff
Upon arrival, they simply gave me a key and escorted me to my room, without bothering to explain how to survive here at all. For example, did you know that room cleaning, water, tea and coffee are only available if you leave the key at the reception? We didn't know. We also took an ice shower for several days, thinking it was a problem with the hot water supply. It turns out that you had to press some kind of magic toggle switch, which, of course, no one said.
By the way, we weren't even warned that it's better not to go into the water at low tide, because you can step on sea urchins. Who do you think learned this from their own experience? Of course we are!
If you start expressing your dissatisfaction, one of the administrators starts being rude, as if I was disturbing her rest. The only joy is Agnes, the second administrator, who somehow tried to solve problems and was friendly.
Water
The pressure is weak, but you can wash. The electricity is often turned off, and the water does not have time to heat up, so most likely you will wash under cold water. If there is one at all. In recent days, there was simply no water, and in order to at least wash, I had to take drinking water. So when you come after the beach, don't be surprised if you don't have a chance to wash up.
Number
I booked an Aquamarine room. The photo shows a huge balcony, swings, deck chairs, a cute table. In reality: a small, stripped-down balcony with a table and two wooden chairs that could give you a splinter in the butt. When asked where the deck chairs were, the answer was brilliant: It was raining heavily and the balcony had to be closed. Excuse me, did it rain? A worldwide flood? (a photo of what is stated and what I attach as a result)
Breakfast
Every morning we enjoyed the same food. If you think it's boring, then no — it's a sport! First, breakfast needs to be protected from wasps, which clearly considered themselves the main guests. Secondly, if you look away for a second, a crow can steal your pancake. Although, I admit, it was funny to watch it.
Beach
The beach itself is really beautiful, but this is the only plus. The sun beds resemble works of art in the "post-apocalypse" style: only one mattress remains, covered with a fabric similar to potato sacks.
At low tide, you need to swim very carefully, literally right next to the shore, if you do not want to get acquainted with hedgehogs. If you suddenly get acquainted, write to the hotel guide right away, they will take you to the hospital and treat the wound. It's all included in the insurance, so it will be free. A "beach" doctor may also come up to you and offer his help — he will ask for $ 15 for this.
And most importantly, you won't be able to relax and enjoy the sound of the waves. Every minute, another merchant will approach you and try to sell everything he can. Sandals, figurines, jewelry, etc. in general, they will not let you relax.
Noise
If you are a light sleeper, then you will not be able to get enough sleep. A nearby cafe is playing music until 3 a.m., as if we were at a disco. Even a closed balcony does not save. The guards and administrators can't do anything (or don't want to), so I personally went to negotiate.
Electricity
The lights were turned off whenever and for as long as they wanted. From a couple of seconds to several hours. Well, the whole island suffers from this, so it's not just the hotel's problem.
If you want an extreme vacation with quest elements, welcome! I strongly recommend everyone else to look for another place.
The hotel is atmospheric. There's a lot to work on. But after the first shock, they quickly adapted to the proposed conditions. The blackout of the light-water-Wi-fi was no more than half an hour. The cuisine at Shashlik Mashlyk is not very tasty, we went to the restaurant opposite. The breakfasts were monotonous, there were not enough pastries. It would be possible to upgrade the baking trays. The staff is cheerful, very friendly! He saved me from the effects of burns and hedgehog pricks. Anyway, we are very satisfied! Hakuna matata! Thanks Tropicana! Prosperity to your business!
The hotel staff ruined the whole impression of the holiday. The hotel itself is for three, it is cleaned well. Everyone seems to be friendly, but once you say that the dish was not tasty, the attitude instantly changed to a dog's. The staff was also seen discussing the guests, who eats, drinks, what they look like, discussing among themselves and outside the hotel with local merchants, drivers and other people, without even hiding it. The impressions are extremely unpleasant.
I liked everything the hotel a little bit, I would say it needs to be adjusted, but the three-star standards are good, the staff is friendly, especially the tour operator Vyacheslav, respect for him, the food in the restaurant is at the level of hello and thank you
For those who are used to the resorts of Asia and Europe, this place is shocking at first. But after 2 days you realize that everything is very good. Nothing falls off, everything works, everything closes and opens. The room is very large.
About topics with bed linen. It is stupidly washed, gray, thin, sometimes torn and the sheet is smaller than the bed. But if you show that you need to change your underwear, then they change it quickly and silently. If something doesn't work, they immediately come and fix it. There is a decent restaurant on the terrace. In the evening, a performance in the style of Zanzibar. But sometimes they involve tourists completely, and then mass club dances are obtained. There is a small swimming pool on site. Not very magical, very old, but quite tolerable if you want to take a dip. But if you're with the kids, you can't come here. There is nothing here for children. The hotel is for young and not so couples. It's good to come with a company. The rooms are designed for 3 people. All hotels with a large territory, infrastructure and service cost 3-4 times more expensive. So for a relatively budget vacation, it will do even for 10 days. The beach has its own tiny dilapidated area with 8 sun beds and a thatched roof. It does not save you from the sun, but the sunbed is wide for 2 people. And in the very center of the beach. It's fun. Like an island in the middle of the sand. And Kendwa Beach is the best. It is incredibly wide and without tides.
Not expensive, near the sea. The room is clean. It was not usual for the shower to be co-located next to the toilet, without partitions) But for Zanzibar, this is a normal phenomenon. The air conditioning works, unlike some other hotels (there were several). The reason is the unstable voltage of the 220 mains. This hotel has stabilizers right in the hallway.
Excellent combination of price and quality. National flavor, but most importantly - a gorgeous sea, which will fix all the disadvantages with a "plus"!
A very nice and lovely place! Very homely atmosphere. It is unlikely that fans of Turkish olinclusive will come, but it is very authentic and, most importantly, clean!!! And the balcony in the Aquamarine room is generally a fire!!!
The rooms do not match the stated photos, the rooms are just terrible, constant problems with water, then with air conditioning, then with the Internet, then with light.
In the cafe kebab mashlyk, which belongs to the hotel, the waiters deceive tourists, be careful, count the money and recalculate the amount of the check!
Among other things, they decided to renovate 5 rooms, while tourists live behind the wall. Slotting from morning to evening, it's just not possible to relax!
Vacation in the style of Hakuna Matata. Jumbo friends. Anapa-style rooms are cheap. The water is barely flowing. The furniture consists of a concrete table and a crossbar for hangers made of a mop. No TV, no refrigerator. But there is a villain. But the staff is excellent, not thievish and very friendly. The food is fresh, but the choice is not great. The beer is cold. The sea! The sea overshadows everything. That's what they're going for.
We stayed at the hotel in February. The flight by Qatar with a 2-hour connection in Doha is convenient and not tedious. I want to say right away that the hotel completely satisfied us for our money.
Perhaps one of the best beaches in Kendwa, the sun beds are located close to the ocean, comfortable and protected from the sun, this is an important point, because the sun is very hot. Stock up on sun protection products at least 50 spf in advance, they are expensive in Zanzibar.
Our room was on the second floor, cleaned daily, no complaints. Meals, breakfasts, quite a decent choice, my husband did not stay hungry. We had lunch and dinner most often at the hotel, we really liked the soup with coconut milk, an unusual presentation. Grilled seafood is a specialty in Zanzibar, side dish rice, fries, sometimes I just took vegetables, everything is fresh and delicious. Fruits and water can be bought at a nearby shop.
We visited several excursions and even managed to fly on Safari for 2 days, but this is a separate story and a review.
Have a wonderful holiday for everyone! 😉
It is located on the shore of the bay, nearby there are large shoals where there are many starfish at low tide and a deep place where you can swim even at low tide. Being on the edge of kendwa beach is why beach molesters do not reach the hotel. The rooms have universal sockets (Euro plugs are suitable), there is Wi-Fi in the room, bar, on the beach. The rooms have high ceilings, lots of light, an ironing board, an iron, a refrigerator, a safe, a table, chairs, a large wardrobe. The staff promptly resolves all issues that arise, there were almost no power outages. Have a good rest.
Vacationed with my husband in Tropicana in February. We flew on the recommendation of friends who planned a trip to Zanzibar, but in the end did not fly)) To be honest, having never been to Africa, we expected the worst. But we were pleasantly surprised...
The hotel is small, the room is clean, bright, small balcony, everything you need, daily cleaning, excellent for 3 stars! The atmosphere is friendly, every 2-3 days there are various shows, dances and even Russian music.
For breakfast porridge, several types of fruits, pastries, sausages/chicken, side dish, scrambled eggs, pancakes ... The beach is a 2-minute walk away and it's a real fairy tale! Of course, Kendwa is the best, a wide strip of snow-white sand like flour, there are no tides, water of fantastic shades, incredible beauty of sunsets that you want to enjoy endlessly. We rested for 2 weeks and took a car, compared it with other beaches and did not regret our choice for a minute. The time flew by unnoticed, we really liked it, we warmly remember the fabulous island!
We flew with my wife in January 2021. We didn't choose where to fly for a long time, for obvious reasons, we accidentally found the Tropicana - the price came up, the photos in the reviews came up, the description too.
It's a long flight, but I've prepared, 0.5 whiskey and everything is fine (I don't like flying,)).
According to the hotel:
Quite normal rooms. There is air conditioning, a fan and a mosquito net, you can safely open the balcony door and sleep peacefully all night, enjoying the noise of the Indian Ocean and the rustle of the tropical night. There is warm water in the shower, soap and shampoo are not provided upon check-in. A clothes hanger with a pair of hangers, everything that will not fit in a suitcase, or on the table ...
According to nutrition: it was delicious, and lobsters, and royal shrimp, and meat dishes, everything is delicious and affordable, for every pocket. By the way, I advise you to order coconut soup, it's not even anything to taste and the original presentation. The evening animation is excellent, active and at the same time unobtrusive. The person on the bar has a separate respect!!!
Especially for those who are going to this country, especially those who are used to an all-inclusive vacation, I warn you - this is not Turkey or Egypt at all. remember this, everything is different here.
What I would like to say about this wonderful country is beautiful sunrises and sunsets, fresh sea air, and friendly people. In short, do not be afraid to go to Zanzibar, enjoy nature and relax.
My friend and I arrived at the Tropicana Kendwa hotel and stayed there for 11 days. at the time of departure, we were told that we must pay a tax of $ 22, this is a tax (for infrastructure). no one has reported on what kind of infrastructure we are talking about, although we tried to find out. since we were informed about this at the last moment, before leaving the hotel, we did not have any cash. they refused to accept the card. they started swearing and yelling at us, spoiling the whole impression. the man of Arab appearance was most indignant. He refused to introduce himself and to name who he works for. After he realized that he couldn't fuck us for money, he said that in that case, we wouldn't leave the hotel for the airport. although we had a paid transfer. and we had to get to the airport on our own, hitchhiking. I highly recommend spitting in this Arab's face if you see him there, such people should not walk among us

There is no territory at all, poor cleaning, dirty linen, normal food
