It is located on an artificial island on the Svisloch River, in the very center of Old Minsk.
The memorial is also a popular place for newlyweds, who consider it a good tradition to lay flowers at the monument.
This complex symbolizes the memory of all Belarusians who died in military operations outside the country.
Visiting the Memorial Chapel to the fallen Afghan Soldiers made a deep impression on me. This place is not just a memorial, but a sacred space where silence speaks louder than any words. The architectural solution, combining elements of the chapel and the monument, creates an atmosphere of sorrow and hope at the same time.
The stone from which the memorial was erected seems to preserve the memory of the heroism and tragedy of those years. The sculptural elements, concise and expressive, convey the pain of loss and pride in the feat. The faces of the warriors etched in stone are full of determination and courage.
The interior of the chapel made a special impression. Semi-darkness, candles and icons create an atmosphere of peace and spiritual unity. Here you can pray for the repose of the souls of the dead and remember those who gave their lives while performing military duty.
The memorial chapel to the fallen Afghan soldiers is a place of remembrance, mourning and worship, which should be visited by everyone who honors the history of their country and remembers the heroes.
A monument dedicated to Afghan soldiers. The complex is located on an artificial island on the Svisloch River, near the Trinity suburb, in the center of Old Minsk.
A majestic historical monument. Reflecting on the past, one feels the connection of times and generations. This monument is a reminder of important events and people who shaped our history. It is important to preserve and honor such places for future generations. I recommend everyone to visit this monument and feel its atmosphere.
It's beautiful and very patriotic. The monument-chapel is located on a small island, opposite the sports complex, surrounded by a river and a picturesque view, if you do not pay attention to the huge sprawling residential complex nearby
My visit to the monument to the Afghan wars on the island of Svisloch in Minsk was an impressive and deeply emotional experience. This complex, started in 1988 and opened in 1996, rises majestically above the river, and its architectural inspiration from the Church of Euphrosyne of Polotsk gives it special significance.
The way to the island through an arched bridge creates the impression of a transition from one world to another, from everyday life to a monument dedicated to the fallen soldiers. The first to meet is a bronze icon of the Mother of God, symbolizing the sacrifice of the sons who died in Afghanistan.
The chapel, where the names of 771 Belarusian Afghan soldiers are eternally immortalized, fills the heart with bitterness of loss and pride for their service. A crying angel on the island, expressing grief, enhances the emotional atmosphere. This local ritual of laying flowers to the angel brings even greater depth of significance to the memorial.
The memorial complex on the island of Svisloch is not just a monument to the Afghan wars, but also a symbol of grief and pride of the Belarusian people for their sons who died in hostilities outside the country. This is a place where history and human feelings merge into one magnificent and touching monument.
In memory of the war in Afghanistan. It is quite quiet and peaceful here. There is a beautiful chapel, an angel of sorrow, and large stones with the names of Afghan cities on the island. An interesting place, with a good view of the city.
A worthy monument to those who fulfilled the order of the Motherland at the cost of their own young life...
"Children need to be brought here so that the war does not happen again" (Olga Kulikova, an expert of the city of the 19th level on March 29, 2023).
And grandchildren...
Well done Belarusians for creating such a place.
An island where there is a chapel, a monument to the weeping angel and boulders indicating settlements (Kandahar, Kabul, etc. about
Inside the chapel there are four altars with the names of the dead inscribed on them. On the Internet it is indicated that there are 771 names. So many Belarusians returned to their homeland "in a soldier's zinc coffin."
In general, I so read such places, due to the fact that my father is a veteran of the Afghan war (and they didn't even want to give him a certificate for free at the time). But I think everyone should visit.
I didn't know what kind of monument it was, I saw it on the Internet as an island of tears and really wanted to visit it too. Upon arrival, we got acquainted with where we are and what. It's beautiful from any angle here, even from the island itself, even from the embankment…
WE ARE GRATEFUL, BELARUSIAN BROTHERS. FOR PRESERVING the MEMORY of our common heroes. Whom the motherland called to Afghanistan, and then left many there. And the enemies also lied. Indeed, in Russia, which is pro-oligarchic and liberal, until recently, the memory of Afghanistan was hushed up and not encouraged. And this monument is very good and, most importantly, true to its essence. In the form of a very proportionate, elegant and fitting into the surrounding landscape Orthodox chapel, with a cross pointing to heaven and God. Where have our fallen guys gone, may the Kingdom of Heaven be upon them! Thank you!
A very well-groomed and beautifully decorated memorial place for Afghan soldiers, for some reason everyone honors the soldiers who defeated fascism, but soldiers who gave their lives in other armed conflicts are not honored with such honors, imho all soldiers and officers who participated in the fighting at the call of the Motherland are the same heroes as others. Returning to the monument, it is a very worthy place that deserves attention.
The monument is made in the form of a chapel and is located on a small island, to which a bridge leads. It looks unusual and is dedicated to the memory of the internationalist soldiers. I recommend a visit.

The right place. We must not forget the pages of history. It is very well located. Everything is clean and well maintained. I recommend both adults and children to visit
Eternal memory to the Afghan soldiers - alive and already gone. Every stone of the island is a city. Do not pass by, cross the bridge to the chapel. Bow your head, respect with silence.
