The first and only monument to the Grand Duke of Lithuania and Vitebsk Grand Duchy of Lithuania (INCL.) Algirdas ["Alherd" in Belarusian or "Olgerd" in Russian], famous for his victories over the Teutonic Order and the Golden Horde in armor, but with his head uncovered.
The horse under the prince goes alur.
From the prince's outstretched right hand, a hunting falcon, a symbol of princely power, breaks into flight.
He lived in peace and friendship with his older brother, Keystut, who actually acted as co-ruler.
Algirdas was twice in a row (and this is the system!) he was married to Russian princesses ["From two wives - Maria of Vitebsk and Ulyana of Tver - he had 12 sons"].
I am sure that many Citizens of different countries will be surprised by the information that:
"The restriction of the power of the Grand Duke of Lithuania was provided for by the legislation of the Republic of Lithuania in the form of an oath and promise by the Grand Duke to preserve certain rights and privileges, as well as in the form of an outright ban.
For example, the Grand Duke was forbidden to start a war or impose taxes on military needs without the permission of the Soim, to issue laws that would object to the Statute of the INCL, to distribute spiritual and secular positions, titles and lands of the INCL to foreigners, including the Polish gentry."

One of the most beautiful sculptures in Vitebsk. Some historicophiles dispute the appointment, but I admire the skill, and I leave the story to the conceits. If the architects of Vitebsk thought more about the beauty of the city, it attracts people, but what to show? Panels? Similar trading houses?

Monument to Prince Algirdas, Grand Duke of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. He was married twice to Russian princesses, after the death of his first wife's father, he was Prince of Vitebsk, refused to reign in Pskov, although he gave his son to the Pskov princes. After the death of his father, Gediminas, by agreement with his elder brother, he became the Grand Duke of Lithuania. At the time of his reign, the INCL included the entire territory of Belarus, almost all of Ukraine, almost all of Lithuania, the eastern part of Poland, Smolensk, Bryansk and Kursk with their lands. The religion is Orthodox.
