I saw this monument while studying Minsk! The monument to Gritsevets in Minsk was erected in 1955. The authors of the monument are the sculptor Z.Azgur and the architects S.Musinsky and G.Sysoev. Initially, the Gritsevets monument in Minsk was located in Yanka Kupala Park, but in 1972 it was moved to the boulevard along Lenin Street. It is located there today. Sergey Ivanovich Gritsevets is a major, pilot, the first twice Hero of the Soviet Union. In 1936-1938, he voluntarily participated in the Spanish Civil War and in battles with the Japanese conquerors on the Khalkhin Gol River. Gritsevets personally shot down over forty enemy aircraft. He died in September 1939 near the village of Bolbasovo in the Orsha district while on duty. We study the history of cities and Europe together!

A monument to a remarkable man, a pilot, twice a hero of the Soviet Union, who died in 1939. It reminds us that in fact the Second World War did not begin in 1939, but earlier - with the conflicts in Spain and Mongolia. It was in air battles with militaristic Japan in the skies over Mongolia that Gritsevets S. I. twice proved himself worthy of the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. Perhaps it was thanks to him and his associates that Japan did not dare to attack the Soviet Union...
