We had a vacation with my husband here in December 2024, it was our honeymoon. In general, we really liked everything, I'll write in more detail.:
1) Rooms
Initially, we were accommodated on the 1st floor because there were no rooms available on the 2nd floor (we arrived at 3 a.m.). Thank God we were moved to the 2nd floor in the morning! It's very cold on the 1st floor, we were freezing all night even without air conditioning, and the hood was making a lot of noise.
The 2nd floor with a balcony was perfect, a more "new room". The furniture is of course shabby everywhere) But when traveling to Asia, you should not expect luxury unless it is an expensive hotel.
Towels seemed to be changed consistently, and the bed for all 9 days never once. In general, the room was cleaned, and the water was replenished steadily. But the floors were a little dirty, but we were given slippers (only for some reason when we moved to the 2nd floor).
The balcony is a separate privilege — you can't see the neighbors, but the ocean is right next to it)
2) Food
I don't understand why many people didn't get it. The food was very good! Indeed, it was possible to eat so much at breakfast that it was enough until dinner.
The buffet format featured European and local cuisine. There was always a choice (we had breakfast+dinner included). There are a lot of fresh herbs and vegetables, alas, only papaya, bananas and pineapples from fruits, there was nothing more exotic. A large selection of pastries and sweets, fish, meat and seafood. Everything is delicious in terms of spices, there is little spicy (mostly for locals). Tea and coffee are mediocre, coffee can be made for 400 rubles separately. Juices are free only for breakfast, you will have to pay for them at dinner, as well as for other drinks)
3) Service
He's good, the staff is polite everywhere. Everyone speaks English, which is a big plus.
If you go on an excursion in the morning before breakfast, then you will be given it with you.
The bar is paid, as is the beach bar. The beach towels are fresh.
They conduct various activities in the form of water polo and darts. By the way, I highly recommend visiting the gym at the hotel, there is a wonderful coach there. The gym provides water and towels.
The service is a bit intrusive in terms of additional paid services (drinks for dinner and dinner for two on the beach), but in general they understand that you don't want to.
Everyone is smiling, always ready to help.
4) The beach
The ocean is literally 100 meters away from the hotel. There is a pool nearby with fairly warm water, there are always few people in it, the water is not heavily chlorinated.
Palm squirrels are running around on the beach, which don't really make contact. The sun beds are normal, towels are provided. The beach is being cleaned, the dogs are being kicked out. When we were on the beach, a turtle crawled out and laid eggs. The wave is strong, so I advise you to walk to the rocks (less than a kilometer) and swim there, because there is no wave and you can go deeper.
5) Guides
Hotel guide from the Fan&We didn't like San at all. We highly recommend our new friend Ravinda (he walks along the beach of the hotel and speaks excellent Russian. A wonderful and kind person who doesn't try to cheat you for money. He even gave us a gift before we left!). Ravindu and I went on safari along the Bentota River, Galle city, turtle Conservation Center, Bentona village and Alutgama city for shopping. He rides a tuk-tuk and all the excursions were just the two of them. We also recommend tuk-tukers Madu and Raja (they stand at the entrance to the hotel), but they do not speak Russian.
6) Evening program
It's pretty boring for young people, but on the whole they try their best! They invite musicians who sing well in English. There was also a show of local dances and a fakir. We didn't get to Christmas and NG, but there was a dinner and a party for those holidays.
7) The contingent of vacationers
We were very glad that there were almost no children in the hotel. Enjoy the peace and comfort.
There were very few Russian tourists, literally 3-4 people. Mostly a lot of Germans, there were French. There are vacationers from India and even local wealthy Sri Lankans. Everyone is very culturally behaved, no one got drunk or rowdy. You can even get to know someone. You can try to get acquainted with the French hotel guide Adil, a great guy, became our friend.
8) Overall impression
We really liked this hotel, the service is good. If you need to relax in seclusion, enjoy the ocean and nature — you are here. There are no animals running around the hotel, which is a huge plus. Everything you need from shops and attractions is nearby. A tuk-tuk costs pennies. It is better to go to Induruva, to this hotel, than to Hikkaduwa (there are a lot of tourists from the CIS, it is noisy like in Turkey, and dirty beaches).
Great hotel! The restaurant is good, the atmosphere is calm. In the evenings, music is alive and animation happens. There is a large swimming pool on the territory of the hotel. There are a lot of sun beds, there are enough for everyone. There are always towels. The ocean is noisy all the time, the waves are quite high, thanks to this fine water dust is flying all the time and it is humid. Ready inhalation! The beach is very long, 2 km, you can take a good walk. There are very few people. Disadvantages - towels are taken away in the rooms in the morning, and brought only in the evening. However, they are cleaned every day. There are local cloth merchants, but on the 3rd day they already merge with the landscape. There is both a highway and a railway road nearby. But it doesn't bother much - because the ocean is always noisy! I recommend.
A good hotel with very modest meals. The territory is clean, the staff tries hard, the pool is pleasant. We had a rest in the middle of October. The forecast was written every day by rain, and it was at night. It's cloudy in the afternoon, but you still need to close completely so as not to get burned. Sun beds between the pool and the ocean. There was always a red flag, but we jumped on the waves 2 meters from the shore, we really wanted to. The room is quite normal on the second floor: ocean view, kettle, refrigerator, air conditioning, wardrobe, sofa. We took breakfasts and dinners. The food is very mediocre. Yes, you can always find something, but you don't want to look for it.
They took a tuk-tuk for the first time, according to reviews, it's generally sad: they take them to their lured places at exorbitant prices and "fuck off." They found another one themselves and the island began to play with new colors.
I recommend the hotel if you do not bother with food.
