The park was founded in 1974 as part of the celebration Thousands of years of Vitebsk, however, its territory still looks more like an ownerless wasteland. According to the official version of the authorities, the growth of trees is hampered by the clay soil on which the park is located.
Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee (2008-2014) A. N. Kosinets has repeatedly said that a Belarusian Disneyland is planned to be built on this site.
According to the information of Vitsebskgrazhdanproekt, there is a plan for the development of the park. Its infrastructure should include a concert venue; an ornamental swimming pool surrounded by gazebos; a sports complex; and an amusement park. The park is divided into 4 zones: an Ice Palace zone, an active recreation zone, a quiet recreation zone, and a cultural and educational zone. The construction of the zones was scheduled for 2000, but it was never started due to insufficient funding. Trees were planted on the territory near the Ice Field, but unfortunately they died. The work of the late 2010s was reduced to concreting part of the wasteland.
The pond, which is called the "Behemoth", is famous for the fact that people regularly drown in it.

The most favorite place to walk outside the city is within walking distance.
It is a little unclear why money is not allocated for landscaping.....after the hurricane, trees fell, fell on the trails. They have been lying there since July. The snow has fallen, the parking lots are not being cleaned, people cannot enter and leave.

In general, the place is beautiful, it's a pity that the construction of the embankment on the opposite shore has not been completed, which spoils the view. But, on the whole, it's good.

There are no sandboxes and swings for the little visitors of the park. There are no fitness equipment for healthy lifestyle. There is no cafe with a children's menu, except for a small assortment of juices.

Now they have broken half of everything that is possible, dubious companies roam at night thanks to the beer stall in the center.
