One of the disadvantages is that you need to walk on the grass, and there is no pomposity in this monument, given that this monument will not even relate to the urban scale, but to the republican one! In place of the administration, it could be highlighted more pompously, because, in fact, this is the cradle of our history
The settlement itself was further away - on a hill between the modern Polota riverbed and the old town. The riverbed of the Polota was straightened by the troops of Ivan the Terrible in the second half of the 16th century, when they built the Streletsky castle after the capture of the city.
By itself, this monument is neither outstanding nor impressive, but it is installed at the place where the most ancient city of Belarus, Polotsk, originates, and it was here that the first settlement was discovered. This place is dear to my heart, because I grew up in the alley next door and played nearby as a child. The monument is unlikely to impress a tourist, there are no signs of a settlement nearby.
