We had a rest in November 2024 at the Griffon hotel on the banks of the mountain river Ptsyrsha.We really liked the location 50 meters from the Waterfall 👍🏻I want to visit Abkhazia again!

I had a rest at the Waterfall hotel, which is located 200 m from this waterfall. The places are very beautiful! The Simon Cananite Monastery is within walking distance, as well as the grotto of Simon Cananite (one of the apostles of Jesus Christ), where a service is regularly held (I got to it). I recommend everyone to visit these places, you will definitely get an unforgettable experience.

Yes, I really recommend visiting here, but I probably won't recommend staying here. One day was enough for me to see the sights and the density of tourists per square meter. The Pcsyrkhinskaya hydroelectric power plant was built in 1909 and is one of the oldest mini-hydroelectric power plants in Abkhazia.
Russian monks from the New Athos Monastery built an artificial waterfall for the operation of the hydroelectric power station.
The diesel engine for the hydroelectric power plant was donated by Emperor Alexander III when he and his family came to lay the foundation stone for the construction of the central Cathedral of St. Panteleimon of the New Athos monastery.
In addition to the diesel engine, the Emperor presented
musical chimes for the bell tower in the center of the western building and a steam locomotive for the monastery railway.
The hydroelectric power plant worked without repair for 13 years, until 1922 and was mothballed.
In 2010, it was decided to restore the hydroelectric power plant.
The Russian National Space Bank provided financing for the restoration work.
The old building has been renovated.
A new generator and turbine were installed in it.
The entire automatic control system and equipment for it were made to order in Ulyanovsk.
All units and units of the HPP are installed by Russian specialists.
The Pcsyrhinskaya HPP was reopened on June 3, 2012 and has been providing electricity to the New Athos Temple Complex since that time.
In 2011, the New Athos Monastery ended up in the hands of individuals who had dissolved their unity with the Russian Orthodox Church.
The Russian Orthodox Church does NOT bless Orthodox pilgrims to participate in the sacraments on the territory of the monastery, to buy candles, souvenirs, and make donations in order not to support schismatics.
