Registan is Registan!
It is very pompous, it is clear that the rulers of Samarkand sought to impress their subjects and guests! Ulug-Bek, Sher-Dor and Tillya-Kori madrasahs are very beautiful. And at night with a backlight - especially! Interestingly, the ornament of the entrance portal in the form of crawling snakes, unique to Bukhara, is found everywhere in Samarkand, apparently such a feature. On the square there is the grave of a rich man, according to the guide who helped in the construction of the Sher-Dor madrasah next to the entrance to it.
Grave grave, however, Wiki writes that "since Soviet times, a myth has appeared among the guides, according to which this grave belongs to a certain butcher, who allegedly fed meat to the builders of the madrasah, gained respect, and was subsequently honored to be buried at the entrance, in fact, the grave appeared long before the construction of the current three madrasahs of the ensemble Registan".
If you are in Samarkand, then the Gestalt should be closed!!!
Excellent entertainment, there is a light show in the evening. To watch, you need to come at about 20.45, it is convenient to take a seat. The interior was visited with a guide, and they offer their services at the entrance. The gorgeous girl Dilya did not intrusively and interestingly spend and told everything. She advised me what else to see around the city and beyond, and even helped me a lot in exchanging money.
The largest and most memorable historical complex in Samarkand, both in size and in the number of historical buildings assembled at one point, as well as in architecture and expressive facade decoration. The entrance to the complex is the most expensive compared to other architectural monuments, especially for foreign tourists. Most tourists gather here, and the local population also comes. There are many small shops selling souvenirs in each building of the complex. in general, the condition of the buildings is tolerable, although traces of time and dilapidation can be traced, especially on the rear facades, the hand of the restorers is felt in places, but it is not enough for the entire complex of Registan buildings In the evening, the facades of the buildings are beautifully illuminated, creating their own special atmosphere)
Interesting, beautiful, bright and atmospheric! You can watch the evening color show from the observation deck, and in the afternoon it is better to visit the complex inside, wander around the benches, drink a cup of Turkish coffee on the balcony of the madrasah.I advise you to visit, you will not regret it.The beauty of the blue domes conquers during the day!
It is a very beautiful and majestic place. Upon arrival in Samarkand, you should definitely visit this place in the afternoon and evening. During the day, this place is filled with tourists, and in the evening there are many locals. And it looks different at these two times of the day. I really like the museum with archaeological finds, and there are figures (possibly wax) of great people who have made a huge contribution to the science and culture of our country. In general, this place should definitely be visited
A wonderful place with a rather old and interesting history. Color lighting is installed in front of the buildings in the floor, which gives a very mature look in the evening. Polygamy of various lavoie with various kinds of locally produced and non-local goods too))) On the second floor, you can enjoy a cup of strong Turkish coffee for a nominal fee. The place is beautiful, I advise you to look with your own eyes.
The area is extremely beautiful and atmospheric. You can immediately imagine the sands, the caravan, the merchants of the past. History seems to have frozen here.
There are always a lot of tourists on the square, a ticket is more expensive for guests than for locals. You can walk in and out all day with one ticket.
In the evening, the square is illuminated, music is playing, and on certain days there is a laser show.
The place is a must-visit.
A unique place. The beauty is impressive. The number of craft shops is off the scale. It is better to take a quiet walk to enjoy. In the evening, at about 22.00, they say there is a beautiful show with music and projection on buildings, but I did not get to see this time.
A super place! It's a very beautiful place. The ensemble of three ancient madrasahs. Culture and traditions are very fascinating. The place of power and might of antiquity, their greatness, and it is hard to believe that several hundred years ago these buildings were a mosque, a madrasah, and the home of ancient scientists. I am proud to have visited and studied these places in the ancient history of Samarkand. And the night Register is especially beautiful.
A must-visit, fantastically beautiful place, the heart of Samarkand. We were there during the day, but they say in the evening, with the backlight, the square looks even more interesting. You can look at it for free from the observation deck (a gorgeous view of the entire ensemble) or pay 65,000 soums and go to the square itself, entering each madrasah. It is necessary to visit and see it, it is definitely worth your money.
An incredibly beautiful place! Admires! There are very beautiful courtyards inside, you can go in, buy a souvenir, chat with the sellers. Ticket 65000. You can take a guided tour at the entrance. They offer to go up to the top of the minaret.
The light show starts at 21.00.
I recommend arriving by 7.30 pm in order to have time to take pictures in the sunset light, take a walk and catch the show.
Samarkand is one of the most beautiful cities! It captivates with its majestic architectural masterpieces such as Registan Square, Gur Emir Mausoleum and Bibi Khanim Mosque. The narrow streets of the old city, decorated with bright mosaics and domes, take you back to the era of greatness of ancient civilizations. There is a special atmosphere in Samarkand, where the spirit of the East and the greatness of ancient times are intertwined.
A beautiful view of the ancient architecture, unusual for us. It is beautiful especially in the evening because of the backlight. Sometimes a laser show is held. The scale and grandeur are impressive. An hour is enough to visit. I recommend you to visit.
Beautiful, impressive. There are a lot of people, probably in this city it is a tradition to spend evenings in this place. But the people do not interfere. It is a little confusing that some architectural elements tilt, and very significantly. It's a pity if it falls into disrepair. Well, the guides.. This is a separate topic for conversation. There are a lot of them, and it's hard to refuse them all))
I love this place! Very beautiful. In the evenings, music and lighting are turned on. Inside, too, everything is very interesting and majestic. The only thing that bothers is a lot of tourist shops.
If you are in Samarkand, you will definitely come here. And I think you'll like it here. Be sure to visit here in the evening, when music is playing and a light show is taking place in the square. Nicely. It is also interesting and beautiful during the day. Entrance is paid. Spare no money for a guide. It will be more interesting with a guide.
The place is interesting! But, the approach of the administration, which makes different ticket prices, is confusing. It's not very hospitable. If you want to support local residents and not take a lot of money from them, then at least make a system of preferential conditions. And to say one price for tourists and another for residents of the city, well, it's somehow not right and ugly. Uzbekistan has always been famous for its hospitality. I hope that my review will somehow influence the decision of the administration further, there will be no discrimination based on the principle of your own, not your own!
It's amazing! This is an oriental fairy tale! Power, history, atmosphere. You can get impressions even just by looking from the side. But I still recommend buying a ticket and going inside. It will take at least 2 hours to review all the "nooks and crannies". And in the evening at 20.00 or 20.30 (look on the Internet, the schedule varies from season to season) at the show square, you can just sit next to it and watch. This is, so to speak, the cherry on the cake))
It's a great place. You can buy all the souvenirs and gifts in one place, and you can dress up)). Be sure to bargain 10-20% off really. Wait for the evening show with lighting and music, it's very atmospheric.
The place is iconic. It is mandatory to visit. Interesting handmade products are sold in one of the madrasas. The whole complex is of course in such a state that it is pleasant to look at. I did not know that the minarets tilted at one time and had to be leveled , and Soviet engineers did it . I am proud
It's a great place to visit. The entrance is paid to visit the madrasah. Inside the madrasah, the crafts of Samarkand and the sale of peasant products are presented. The architecture is impressive. Inside the madrasah there are beautiful ceilings, walls, courtyards. It's worth a visit. In the evening, there is a light show that you can watch without entering the square. There are steps there, you can sit there and watch the show. It's better to come somewhere at 20:50. The duration is about three musical compositions. The laser show was not caught. it is unclear when it happens. There are many parks and cafes nearby. A great place to walk.
In general, the tour to Samarkand was amazing. Each madrasah has an amazing mosaic, individually special. In this madrasah there was a very fascinating story about women's clothing, by what signs it was possible to determine the status of a woman, whether she had children. Original souvenirs are on sale.
The heart of Samarkand! A really amazing, historical architectural ensemble "Registan". It consists of Ulugbek Madrasah, Sherdor Madrasah and Tillya Kori Mosque.
A must-visit place for visitors to the city. I recommend. Those who have been to Samarkand, but have not visited Registan Square, have not been to Samarkand.
It's gorgeous and definitely worth going inside. We also got to the light show, it starts at 21:00. Adds an oriental flavor. People are very friendly, they tell and show everything. And it's just great to sit on warm stones and admire this splendor.
A very beautiful place in the historical center of Samarkand, restored during the Soviet period of the Uzbek SSR, when compared with photographs of the 50s almost from ruins. The amazing architecture of the medieval East. A majestic ensemble during the day and an extraordinary beauty at night.
This is probably the most atmospheric place in Uzbekistan. Very beautiful. After dark, the backlight and musical accompaniment turn on. Entrance to the square is paid. Many tourists watch the color display from behind the fence, without paying.
A luxurious place! The backlight is impressive. The courtyards are very cozy. I see only one disadvantage - paid entrance. Such beauty, imho, should be available to everyone at any time of the day.
A magnificent complex. I managed to visit the square in the afternoon and evening. In the evening we got to a light show with music. It was already cool in the evening and the atmosphere created by the colorful lighting and local music, of course, will be remembered for a long time.
Space! If you go to Uzbekistan, I recommend visiting Samarkand at the end, otherwise the impression of Bukhara and the rest of the equally beautiful, but less ambitious, will be blurred) take a personal tour at the entrance to Registan, it's worth it! They did not believe the words of the guide that souvenirs are cheaper here, but in vain, it is really more expensive on the market, and even more expensive in Bukhara. In restaurants, food is a special delight - meat and vegetables, what else is needed? The main discovery of Uzbekistan for me is the onion!!! At first I saw and did not understand why a whole plate of onions is cut into meat instead of a side dish? And it's juicy, fragrant, not spicy, and after it you don't smell like onions)))
Very impressed! The art of the ancient masters, and of course the restorers who worked on the interiors and domes is amazing! The subtlety and beauty of the work impressed even more than the Taj Mahal!
Everything is organized well, clean. It is necessary to be with a guide in order to better understand the history and culture of Uzbekistan.
Registan Square in Samarkand left an incredible impression on me and has forever sunk into my memory! This place is not just a historical monument, it is a real miracle of architecture and culture. The realization that I am standing in a place where trade routes have converged for centuries and great civilizations have developed penetrates me to the depths of my soul.
The architecture of the buildings on Registan Square simply amazes with its splendor and artistic sophistication. Every detail, every pattern, every column are real works of art, embodying the wealth and talent of the ancient masters.
Walking along Registan Square under the rays of the sun, I felt like a part of history, merging with its grandeur and beauty. The feeling of peace and delight from this place will stay with me for many years.
Registan Square is a real gem of Samarkand architecture, which is undoubtedly worth a visit to every traveler. I am grateful for the opportunity to see this splendor and recommend to everyone who has not yet visited here, be sure to visit this amazing corner of the world!
You definitely need to visit here, or even better, take a tour with a story about this place, of course each guide has his own way, but it's interesting, and at 21:00 (in May at least) interesting lighting and music!
It is very beautiful: Registan Square, 3 madrasahs! Ulugbek madrasah was especially impressed. It is possible, more or less, to walk with a wheelchair, there are ramps. Of course, there are inconvenient thresholds and a rocky surface, for example, in the courtyard of the Sherdor madrasah and Tillya-Karri. But this was to be expected. But, in general, we managed to see more than we expected.
It is a very beautiful place, you can walk for a long time and look at the features of the mosaic and architectural beauty. If possible, it is better to come in the evening when the lights and music are on. It's actually a fire! We were there twice, in the afternoon and in the evening. The ticket costs a little less than 500 rubles. Keep in mind that you can't get through twice on the same ticket on the same day. But we agreed, and they let us in like this 😁
A wonderful sight! Like in a fairy tale. Beauty! Interesting! There are many photographers who will take high-quality pictures, but you have to bargain with them, because they inflate prices. I recommend it to everyone!!!
A very beautiful view at night! Everything is glowing, music is playing! All Madrasas are very beautiful! Every Madrasah has a second floor! My parents and I bought tickets at night. I recommend it!( these are the advantages )
It bothered me a little that the walls were not standing straight, and I thought that the walls were going to collapse!( these are the cons )
It's a very interesting place. Plan more time to walk around the shops and chat with the craftsmen. It is very interesting. It is better to be with a guide to understand the historical background.
The fundamental and monumental point of Samarkand!! A story from all corners. It is a very beautiful and simply delightful place. Unobtrusive souvenir sellers. I want to come back!
Samarkand is a city in Uzbekistan, famous for its mosques and mausoleums. The Great Silk Road, a trade road that connected China with the Mediterranean countries, ran through Samarkand. The most important sights are Registan Square with three madrasahs of the XV and XVII centuries, richly decorated with majolica, and the Gur Emir Mausoleum - the majestic tomb of Timur (Tamerlane), the founder of the Timurid Empire.
Reading, listening, watching somewhere is one thing. To see firsthand, to walk around Registan Square is to let through a storm of exciting emotions. Here, each building is decorated with a unique pattern. While visiting the square, you can go to each of the three madrassas, admire the mosaics and minarets. In the evening, after sunset, the light and sound panorama is turned on in the square (at 21:00, but sometimes they start earlier). Laser shows are also held here, telling about historical events (unfortunately we did not get to it, they are not held every day). Here you can really feel that you have found yourself in a fairy tale ❣️
Samarkand has changed a lot in the last 9 years. Cozy, original, bright, delicious. You need to go here for the mood, for impressions. By the way, we got to the Fan Mountains from here - the most convenient location.
A must-visit. It's a very beautiful place. Entrance is 40,000 soums, the guide is 300,000 soums. The tour lasts an hour. They tell us in detail. It is necessary to visit twice, once in the afternoon, entering the territory and once in the evening, viewing from the observation deck, the lighting is very beautiful.
This is the pearl of oriental architecture! Come to Samarkand! This atmosphere of a magical oriental fairy tale must be felt personally! To see and keep memories forever!
A beautiful place with an ancient history. Well done for restoring this architectural ensemble. Wonderful evening lighting. It is a pity that the trees that used to grow on the square were removed, but they were a hindrance for holding mass events. The overall impression of visiting this place remained positive. The entrance ticket is not expensive, I also advise you to take a guide to get more complete information.
The historical center of Samarkand. Very beautiful and grandiose! In the evening, the backlight and national music turn on. You can go inside everywhere. There are many shops, they make coffee. A must-visit in Samarkand.
It's a surprisingly soulful place. An atmospheric, colorful place where you feel comfortable. A place with a lot of history. It's very beautiful. The only thing that surprised me was the retail outlets inside, it seems to me that these things need to be taken out of the territory. It will be right and respectful to the ancestors.
A beautiful, majestic place. Great location for photos, everything is clean and tidy.
Minuses:
A lot of people. Entrance to the territory is paid. In the evening, the color backlight is turned off closer to night.
In general, this is a place worth visiting. I recommend.
This is the best attraction in Samarkand, and that is why she needs to complete the excursion program. My wife and I started with Registan, and the rest of the sights were not impressed in comparison. I definitely recommend it for a visit, the emotions will be unforgettable.
The pearl of Samarkand. An extremely atmospheric place, definitely worth a visit! We were in the morning, when there are few people and you can watch everything calmly
A beautiful landmark! The entrance costs up to $ 10 (you can pay with a visa or mastercard card) there are many souvenir shops inside - they already ask for cash, there is practically no terminal anywhere. Prices for souvenirs are relatively high, because the place is popular with tourists.
The architecture is very beautiful, you can book a tour on the spot. The whole complex (at a fast pace with a visit to several souvenir shops) can be spent for an hour.
I advise everyone to visit the complex) this is one of the most interesting places in Samarkand)
