This is an indescribable delight!
Time has no control over this city.
Power and beauty!
I am very happy that I visited this place!
I recommend everyone to visit!
The most stunning ruins of central Anatolia. There are more questions than answers: why build a city on top of a mountain with no roads or pastures around, where does the water come from in the fountains, and, most importantly, where does it go, as huge stone blocks were dragged along these steeps? Questions, questions, questions... A must-visit.
Perfectly preserved. A large area. Beautiful views. It's sparsely populated. It is cool in the heat (altitude 1000+ meters). Definitely worth a visit. I recommend
A great and still little-known place.
We went there from Isparta by public transport. It's still an adventure, so if possible, it's better to rent a car or take a taxi.
The museum itself is not only interesting ancient ruins with artificial waterfalls, but also a beautiful view of the valley.
So if possible, be sure to visit Sagalassos! There are still few tourists, entry is relatively inexpensive.
We were here back in 2014.
We accidentally saw this name on a map marked historical landmark. Of the visitors, we were there and a few others. There are many antiquities. In those days, excursions were not taken there yet. If you do not have experience riding on narrow paths in the mountains, then I do not recommend it.
In 2020, in December, we decided to stop by, show our son, we arrived, and there the snow lies knee-deep and the mountain goats are jumping))). They were surprised.
I still did not understand how people used to live here, it was very high, there were no fertile lands, it was far from the port cities.
In summer, although in the mountains, it is very hot, in winter in December -7 and there is snow. At the same time, it is +17 at the bottom.
In a word, it's amazing, I've visited many ancient cities, but I've never seen anything like this... If you write down the ancient city of Sagalassos in a lonely location and set off, the navigation brings you from an unused mountain road, your vehicle may possibly come to harm... It is useful to write Let her Cry first and then follow the ancient city signs.
It is a very beautiful place where you can walk through the sparks of the old Roman city, founded after the conquests of Alexander the Great. The emperors Tiberius and Hadrian built this city. An amazingly beautiful place, location, silence around. Walking through the large territory of the ancient city, it is impossible to imagine how such grandiose buildings could be built in those days: a theater, a fountain, a square, baths and so on.
The city was destroyed by two earthquakes. The theater is very well preserved and the fountain is working.
Wear comfortable shoes, take water. There are few visitors, there is a cafe at the entrance.
The territory is quite large, the time of the walk will depend on your desire and interest.
The ticket price is 25 liras.
It was like visiting ancient Rome or Greece.
It's a very large settlement, and you can explore everything in about four hours.

I really liked the ancient city of Sagalassos. Not as hyped as Ephesus, but there is something special, attractive. For example, the first rain-receiving grid in the ancient world, which is in the photo.:))
You can move around the territory on footpaths. Sometimes there are steep stairs. The observation decks offer scenic views of the surrounding area.
It's definitely a place to be seen.
I think it's an ancient city that was discovered too late and didn't find the place it deserved.
There is more than other ancient cities in Anatolia, there is no shortage.
It should definitely be visited and seen.
Probably the largest and most interesting ancient city, where few people get to. We drove all along the coast, Lycian tombs are generally a laugh in comparison. A large amphitheater on a hill, it turns out great photos. Below the statue and the spring, the columns are also cool.
In general, out of two weeks of vacation, one of the two places that left a really pleasant impression was on May and there were 6 tourists for the whole city.
An excellent place not yet exhausted by tourist groups, there is free parking, a toilet, a stall with a coffee machine and a souvenir. In September, the entrance fee was 170 lire per person. We wandered for 2 hours, very atmospheric. A ban on launching drones.
It's a very interesting place. I recommend it to all lovers of antiquity and ruins! We were on our own once, we didn't get around everything. In summer, you need to arrive early in the morning, it's better to be there at 8-9. At one o'clock in the afternoon we left – it was very hot, even in the mountains. Whoever has a kimlik, be sure to take it. You can buy a museum card on site.
It leads to a beautiful, humane old era. Especially the restoration of the corpses was very nice.polar mosaics are a separate pattern. Amphitheater should be organized for festivals may attract more interest. The rock tombs above should be visited.
A very interesting tour. All thanks to the guide. A lot of historical facts. A large amount of information and at the same time not tedious. Very satisfied!!!
The ancient city in the mountains is worth a visit. Beautiful views, a touch of the history of Antiquity. Dress warmly, there is a wind in the mountains.
Sagalassos is an ancient city whose stones remember Alexander the Great. The city that was the capital in 25 BC. The city where the Emperor Hadrian was praised.
