A good place to stay in Samarkand. All the sights and the market are within walking distance. Good transport interchange. A very hospitable host. He told me about the city and suggested excursions. Have a delicious breakfast in the morning
The guest house is located about 1 km away (10 minutes walk) from the historical center of Samarkand. It consists of five rooms located in the courtyard. The young family of the owners with children live right here in this house. While we were living, their relatives also stayed with them.
The room was clean enough. The furniture is old, the sockets are located far from the beds (they asked for an extension cord). There are not enough shelves in the shower, a cup for toiletries, some kind of rug. After taking a shower, the entire floor in the shower is wet. The room also lacks a closet or at least shelves. Things have to be laid out on the bedside table, beds, chair backs, which is not very nice.
Towels, detergents, toilet paper were provided. During the 4 days of stay, towels and bed linen were not changed (it was not critical for us).
Air conditioning and TV are available. The air conditioner is working, the TV, to be honest, was not turned on. If a refrigerator, microwave, kettle are needed, the owners offer to use their appliances. You can also ask for dishes and cutlery without any problems. Perhaps, if asked, they can allow you to use their washing machine. They are open-minded people, they help in any way they can.
I'll be honest, the accommodation is for unassuming travelers, although the hostess is trying. But there are too many worries on her: children, husband, relatives, guests. Everyone needs to be fed, washed, and cleaned up.
The accommodation is great for those who want to see the life of an Uzbek family, communicate with the guests. There are many foreigners among them. It is not very suitable for those who need privacy or vice versa for noisy companies.
In the Registan area, a money changer is sitting across the street near a pedestrian crossing. His course is normal (in May 2024 it was 1:130).
Of all the cafes we visited, we liked the Old City the most. The price is like everywhere else, it was cooked delicious. The pilaf was the best in Uzbekistan, of those that were tried.
It is very conveniently located in the city center, close to the main historical sites. Friendly hosts. The room is small, there is no table, no wardrobe, only two beds, two chairs and a small bedside table. If you need to work at the table, then there is no such opportunity. There is a shower, hot water, toilet in the room. It is more convenient to make breakfast yourself, there is a shared refrigerator, the owners give dishes and a kettle. You can eat in the courtyard under a canopy, there are small tables and chairs. There is an Internet connection. Machine wash for an additional fee.
