Arriving in Rome for the first time, on the way to the hotel, I decided to stop at Santa Maria Maggiore on the way. It doesn't look like a very remarkable church, the building looks more like a theater. The inside turned out to be amazingly beautiful! I want to photograph every corner of it. Beautiful stone carvings, as well as colorful marble panes and mosaics on the floor and walls. Amazing golden ceiling and lots of statues. It is one of the four papal basilicas. And when I went there, I thought that I had already got to the Vatican))). She's worth coming to her specially and seeing live.
This is one of the most beautiful and majestic churches that I have seen. It feels amazing, the energy is really felt, especially when you approach the cradle of Christ. I highly recommend watching it
A must-visit in Rome is one of the so-called great "Papal" basilicas, where the miraculous icon of the Virgin of the Snow is kept (according to legend, the author is the evangelist Luke), but art historians attribute it to the VI century, and believe that it has a Byzantine origin (Orthodoxy). A stunning Catholic Cathedral with magnificent architecture, interior decoration and an Orthodox Shrine 🙏
