Arriving in Rome for the first time, on the way to the hotel, I decided to stop at Santa Maria Maggiore on the way. It doesn't look like a very remarkable church, the building looks more like a theater. The inside turned out to be amazingly beautiful! I want to photograph every corner of it. Beautiful stone carvings, as well as colorful marble panes and mosaics on the floor and walls. Amazing golden ceiling and lots of statues. It is one of the four papal basilicas. And when I went there, I thought that I had already got to the Vatican))). She's worth coming to her specially and seeing live.
This is one of the most beautiful and majestic churches that I have seen. It feels amazing, the energy is really felt, especially when you approach the cradle of Christ. I highly recommend watching it
A must-visit in Rome is one of the so-called great "Papal" basilicas, where the miraculous icon of the Virgin of the Snow is kept (according to legend, the author is the evangelist Luke), but art historians attribute it to the VI century, and believe that it has a Byzantine origin (Orthodoxy). A stunning Catholic Cathedral with magnificent architecture, interior decoration and an Orthodox Shrine 🙏
A very beautiful basilica, with a special atmosphere! We got to Mass, it was very unusual for us! It is very pleasant and interesting to wander inside, look, think...
A stunningly beautiful basilica! Otherwise, her name is Sata Maria Snezhnaya. Many people know about the snow that fell on August 5 at the height of the hot Italian summer, which is confirmed by numerous historical sources. Founded in 352, it was built intermittently until 1750. Pay attention to the mosaics made under Pope Sixtus III, the wonderful ceiling and, of course, the wonderful altar!
The temple is simply magnificent, with an interesting history. There are unique artifacts there. In the crypt near the altar there is a cancer with a piece of the manger of Christ and in front of it a statue of Pope Pius V. praying. The icon of the Mother of God is also unique. I really liked it. I prayed there that the Lord would send me a daughter, and upon arrival I soon found out that I would be a mother. After 9 months, my miracle appeared, my beloved daughter. I highly recommend visiting.
When I arrive in Rome, I always go to this basilica on the first day. It seems to me that she is the most majestic, beautiful and fascinating, and of course all this should be seen "live". It's just a pity that they don't make an audio guide in Russian.
If you want to see the basilica in all its glory, there is a vending machine at the entrance, where for 3 euros you can turn on full lighting for 1 minute.
