Great idea. The room is cleaned every day. Friendly staff. This beach and hotel is suitable for a relaxing family vacation. It is easy to reach the main tourist beaches of the island by taxi or bus. The beach, as it seemed to us, is the most beautiful, calm and clean. The only negative is the menu at the hotel, as well as the lack of more or less normal cafes in the village. We found a great cafe nearby (20 min walk along the coast)- much tastier and cheaper. We recommend it.
The fairy tale Hotel)) very fond memories of our stay at Shinagawa beach. Small, cozy, aesthetic. The reception is very beautifully decorated - minimalism and natural materials. Spacious rooms with panoramic windows, a balcony and crazy ocean views. The hotel has only 3 floors, but you will have a great view from each room. To the beach 1 min. The beach is incomparable, the ocean is without waves. In February, the water was like fresh milk, I didn't want to get out. The main advantage of the beach at the hotel is that there are no waves, and if there are any, they are quite comfortable to jump. Vacationers from neighboring hotels constantly came to our beach, because it is impossible to swim near one of the hotels, it washes into the ocean. Sun beds are located on the territory of the hotel on the grass, which is very convenient. The territory of the hotel is guarded even from the beach. From morning to evening, a guard stands there and opens the gate for you at the entrance and exit. Outsiders won't get through. Therefore, we calmly left our personal belongings, phones and laptops on the sun beds and went to the beach. There are also safes in the rooms. According to the diet, we took only breakfast. The breakfasts at the hotel are decent, we ate up to our bellies)) a large selection of everything and everything is delicious. We had dinner a couple of times in the same restaurant at the hotel according to the menu. Prices are Moscow + top service fee and 20% tax. The sockets are British, as in all of Sri Lanka, so take adapters. In principle, the reception is provided upon request.
The staff is another advantage of the hotel) everyone is very responsive, friendly, smiling, any request was immediately fulfilled.
The only disadvantage of the hotel is the distance to the infrastructure and cafes. There is nothing nearby) It takes 15 minutes to walk to the shops, to go to the market and cafes by tuk-tuk. But it didn't bother us, we knew where we were going and this beach with a hotel is worth a trip) That is, there is nothing to do here in the evening and there is nowhere to go, you need to go. We were satisfied with such a vacation. If you need parties, you need to go to another hotel) here is a quiet, relaxing holiday.
And I also forgot to say, from morning to evening, annoying beach fights hang out under the tree at kolitka. As soon as you get out, they attack with their services of tuk-tukers and cabbies - I'll take you there, I'll take you here. They are very annoying. They have a trick, if you were picked up by a beach boy on the first day, then you can no longer ride with others, only with him))) so on the first day we agreed with one to take us to the nearest market (for 1 dollar in total). Then he called for a long time on WhatsApp, and after we went somewhere on another tuk-tuk, he began to claim that we should only ride with him)) In general, do not give them promises and your phone numbers, then they will bother you less)
And always bargain, they start voicing the price tag from 3000 rupees per trip. So we went to Hikkaduwa for 1,500 rupees, to Bentota also for 1,500 rupees, in the area of 300-600 rupees.
We went from 01.02 to 10.02
The hotel is very good, the staff is excellent, the food is delicious, the beach is the best on the coast (we went to others, there is something to compare). There are few people, there are practically no waves. There are no shops near the hotel, but a 10-minute walk will take you to the central street of Balapitiya, where there is a cargils supermarket and a small market.
To use tuk tuk, download the pick me app, there you can see the approximate prices (so that the locals do not overestimate), and the tuk tuks themselves at every step, including near the hotel. There are a lot of locals standing behind the fence at the hotel on the way to the beach and offer guided tours and tuk tuks. Their prices are adequate, but they are very intrusive and deliver to "their shops" (tea, spice garden, liquor store, jewelry store), having their own commission. And they follow you like Velcro)
Therefore, we either took the bus, or tore a tuk tuk on the street by the road, and went where we needed to go ourselves.
Buses are very cheap, they run often, it's enough to ask the conductor if he goes where you need to go or not. You can view the schedule and numbers in Google maps, if necessary.
We wrote about local Ravi and Shahmal, who stand at the fence on the way to the beach, they give good prices for tuk tuk, but be prepared for intrusiveness and for the fact that they will take you to shops from which they have a commission.
Tours were taken via Instagram.
Nearby is the town of Bentota, where they bought tea and fruits. We went by bus to Hikkaduwa to the turtles and Galle fort.
Thanks to the hotel staff, all very good guys, special thanks to the general manager Fernando, who helped solve all our questions.
