One of the oldest squares in the western part of the city (Sovetsky district). It is located along Barykin Street behind the October cinema. Due to the very decent condition of the trees, which have grown to a height of 10-20 meters, the function of creating a zone with a high oxygen content, sheltering in summer from direct sunlight, performs !
On the territory of the square, measuring 140 by 170 meters, in addition to plants, benches and gazebos, you can find a bust of Taras Grigoryevich Shevchenko, physical education ladders and horizontal bars for children from 7 to 70 years old! 2-3 asphalt paths are clearly not in the best condition, the same applies to the site behind the cinema, there is something to bring "to mind".
As a result, the Shevchenko Square (Taras, not Andrey) can currently be rated "4-" out of five!
The park is well located, there are benches, lighting in the evening, you can have a nice time, but you do not feel comfortable, comfortable, there is no grooming, although there are attempts and traces of landscaping, I would like the square to be put in order, but also for the people visiting it to support it, and not break and litter.
I don't know how it is now, but before there was an old humpback asphalt with holes, a lot of dirt paths that turn into mush after the rain, why not put asphalt on them, since people walk, old benches and there is a lot of garbage and syringes around. A so-so place for a walk with a child. In the evenings, there are always questionable personalities on the benches. I tried not to walk there. Again, it was before, I don't know how it is now, there is still no desire to breathe air there. When you drive by, everything is beautiful.
Paving slabs and good benches are only at the beginning and center of the square. All the sidewalks and from the center to the end of the square are in terrible condition: the asphalt is damaged, pieces are knocked out in places, in places it is raised. Even going to an adult is not a bad thing, but about walking children, riding with a stroller, roller skates or a bicycle is generally a nightmare. The benches that are located along the central alley from the center to the end are in terrible condition, not painted, broken...
It is a pity that it is in such a neglected state! I remember what alleys were laid out with walking paths, what flower beds there were! And it was so scary to watch the turmoil of the show-off in honor of Poroshenko's visit!
This is the whole essence of the way of modern management!!! But I would also like to note a good human approach, taking care of the residents. ! Thank you for reconstructing the tracks from the underpass! Very convenient!!!
Half of the square is clean and well maintained. And the second half .... There is practically no asphalt, it is dirty. But I love this square. I like to walk there. Quietly, calmly. It's crowded.
In October 2018, the square was put in order before the arrival of President of Ukraine Poroshenko in Gomel. He laid flowers at the monument to Shevchenko. A small green oasis near the city center, near the October cinema, where you can walk before or after watching a movie at the cinema.
Dirty, not cleaned. The paths are all broken, overgrown with grass. It's full of broken branches. It's time to put it in order. The square does not look like a photo at all.
But it's a little gloomy. The monument to Shevchenko seems completely out of place, as does the name near the lying street - Bogdan Khmelnitsky. This character burned down Gomel at the time
The paths are not paved pits at night, run from work, you can break your legs near the cinema there is always water during the rain, people walk around the bushes. Only near Abilisk is it beautiful
