It is the only fully preserved ancient Olympic stadium in the world with a central running field and a rounded one end for martial arts, surrounded by authentic seats and stands.
The stadium in Rhodes is a replica of the stadium in Olympia and has an unusual shape of the arena for our time - an elongated oval, truncated on one side. Its dimensions are approximately 35 by 200 meters.
There are stone rows of steps around the stadium, which served as seats for spectators.
The ancient stadium, like the amphitheater, dates back to the 3rd-2nd centuries BC and has excellent acoustics : So far, the sound of the voice can be heard at 400 meters and is only getting stronger by the middle.
Many parts of the stadium have been well preserved to our days, and the lower rows of the stands for spectators have reached us almost in their original form.
