We stayed at this hotel at the end of May. Complete delight! Very spacious and comfortable rooms, excellent location of the hotel and... courtyard. Such a courtyard! Cozy, blooming, with gazebos where we had breakfast (this is a separate story!) and we sat in the evenings, with wine and board games. The games are your own, brought, but if you mention this to the owners, I assure you, they will provide them in the best possible way. Because the owners... there are no such things. Zinaida is a beauty and a magician. A husband who is always ready to solve everything right away. My father–in-law is a wonderful man. I do not know which of them is the head of the family, let's assume that both. And children, as it should be in happy families: a boy and a girl, well-mannered. Let them forgive me for not remembering their names, well, my memory is so lousy, but I remember them. It's better for all of them not to mention anything. And they will meet you and take you. Objections are not accepted. Do you want to drink wine? Now we will bring you wine glasses. No, it's not nice from glasses. And they will bring it. Watermelon? Let's cut it up now. And they will cut it up. The son did it filigreed, Zinaida later said that he was an expert in slicing watermelons. And the breakfasts! The table is full. Porridge, pancakes, cottage cheese, omelette, fruit; sausage, cheese. I don't know how to make an omelet like that. No, I also cook it with milk, but then it sits down, it's such a shame! But Zinaida's does not sit down.
In general, they are very warm and cozy. And they are very warm people themselves, I don't want to leave.
I highly recommend it, you will like it.
It's the best thing I've ever seen. We arrived unannounced on the recommendation of a close friend with 4 small children at 5 p.m. The intelligent, decent, well-mannered, responsive owners of the house met us, placed us in comfortable, warm, clean, cozy rooms. Boiling white linen, starched towels, clean dishes, water, kettle, refrigerator, air conditioning, hot batteries, and all the other advantages can be listed indefinitely. The owners of the guest house recommended where to have dinner. At breakfast we felt at home, everything was very tasty, scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, homemade oatmeal milk porridge, sausages, cheese, sausage, incredibly delicious tortillas and butter, fruits, cakes, yoghurts, tea, coffee... I will recommend this guest house to my closest and dearest people. And we will definitely come back here again and again. Excellent location in the center, near the Alekseevsky temple. I am in love with this Guest House.100/1000
Stariy Marokand Hotel
An excellent place to enjoy the charming tourist sites of Samarkand.
The hotel is located in the city center, is run by Zinaida and her family (her husband is quite kind and respectful, speaks very well in Uzbek, Russian and English). Zinaida is a wonderful hostess, who personally prepares tasty, varied and unrepeatable breakfasts, keeps the spacious rooms neat and with everything you need.
The hotel has a courtyard in which there are 4 separate awning booths, with their own seats and tables where breakfast is discreetly served and in the afternoons they can be used for dinner, gatherings or board games, in the courtyard there is also a wide variety of fruit trees, decorative plants, which give the place a great freshness and beauty and give a feeling of being away from the noise of the city. Everything you need to spend a happy stay and visit the wonderful city of Samarkand.
If luck allows me to return to this hospitable city, without thinking twice, I will arrive at the Stariy Marokand hotel
If you are planning your trip to Samarkand, stay at this hotel and you will not regret it.
Many thanks to Zinaida and her family, not only for the good accommodation, but also for their advice of places to visit and help in the organization and logistics of the trip.
I chose based on reviews. I didn't regret it. Great place, great hosts! Clean rooms, clean linen, excellent plumbing, delicious breakfast. The whole family liked it
You feel right at home! Many thanks to Zinaida and her family for their hospitality. Nice room, clean, comfortable bed, blanket and pillows. There is a large bathroom with a bidet. Good Internet connection. The location is good, near the park, restaurants. Lovely curls in the morning on request. We were only two days old , and on the third day we left. I checked in this morning, everything was successful. Thank you very much. Prosperity! We recommend it. Tatiana and Mikhail
I want to tell you about the wonderful Guest house "Old Marokand". We had a rest together with my husband from January 2 to January 7, 2024. We chose them based on reviews that were not just good, but excellent! To be honest, for the first time we did not live in a hotel, but it became even interesting here, we decided to see for ourselves what kind of a wonderful place this is
The place is really beautiful: a large private house near the city center in a quiet authentic area, a separate 3-storey wing has been allocated for hotel rooms (there are only 6 or 7 of them). The rooms are spacious, new, very clean, with excellent plumbing, expensive cotton linens and towels (which, by the way, were changed daily!) Mattresses and pillows are great: high–quality, new, also obviously not cheap The topic of breakfast is a separate story! Those who ate at Zinaida's (our hostess) will now look at any European breakfast with sympathy: several types of meat (including delicious kazy) and cheese, porridge or omelet/scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, sweets, fresh bread, tea, coffee… Everything is fresh, of excellent quality, very tasty! It is served in the living room on beautiful dishes and under calm soothing music.
And if you are lucky enough to be invited to dinner, as we were lucky enough to be, then you will definitely not see such delicious food in such volumes anywhere! A huge number of delicious and perfectly cooked meat dishes, snacks, fruits. And most importantly, a sincere friendly conversation with the owners and with the owner's dad, Batyr Saidovich, who told many interesting and instructive stories from his long life!
They also told us where to go, where to eat real manta rays and halissa, and advised us on all issues that arise.
That is, from the point of view of placement, Old Marokand is just perfect, it's true, we have something to compare it with. But the main thing is still the people, the owners of the house, the spouses Utgur and Zinaida and, of course, the head of the family, Batyr Saidovich!
We returned with the feeling that we were not on a tourist trip, but visiting good friends! We really hope to come to Old Marokand again. They say spring and autumn are beautiful in Samarkand!
With respect and wishes of health and prosperity, Natalia and Alexander Kuzmin, Moscow
We came to Samarkand for the marathon on November 4 and 5.
In the center, all the hotels were occupied, and the guest house Stariy Marakand was recommended to us. It is located in the old "Russian" quarter of Samarkand.
Very quiet and cozy place, only 30 minutes walk to the center of the beautiful old town.
The hostess Zinaida met us. Placed in two rooms. The rooms are spacious and warm.
You had to come to the race by 8 am, so you had to have breakfast at 6:30.
And there were no problems with this, the hostess herself cooked a very homemade breakfast (like mom's), with delicious oatmeal porridge.
Moreover, we needed porridge with milk and water. Our order was executed flawlessly.
Serving breakfast in a large living room as in the best houses of "London" or "Paris".
And after a hearty meal, we went to the marathon.
Returning tired, we asked to extend the rooms for a late check-out, and we were not refused.
Our little trip to Samarkand came to an end and thanks to the hostess we left in a wonderful mood.
If you are in Samarkand, I recommend staying at Stariy Marakand.
This house hotel is within walking distance of the main attractions. Fast Internet (this is important, since this is a problem in Samarkand), a cozy suite, which is in the photo. There are many rooms, they are different. The house is in a quiet location, there is a courtyard. Friendly hostess, prepares delicious breakfasts (we were fed)). It's a good place!
My wife and I love to travel by car and have traveled to more than 15 European countries, and Lithuania, Moldova, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan have not been visited in neighboring countries.
Choosing a hotel on a trip is very important. You spend a lot of time reading reviews, weighing all the pros and cons, and still a surprise awaits you on the spot, more often unpleasant, but there are very pleasant surprises.
This happened to us in Samarkand.
After abandoning the unsuccessfully chosen Lyon hotel, I walked a little bit, in search of something suitable. The Zaravshan Hotel exceeded our payment options, and I looked into the Old Marokand guest house in the back of the courtyard. I was surprised and really liked him.
A pleasant, beautiful three-storey U-shaped house located in the middle of a cozy and green garden. The right wing of the house is given over to guests. The house was built with love, and the care of the guests is noticeable in the little things. There are walkways at the entrance, carpets on the floors and in the rooms, polished floors. Clean and tidy. At the entrance, you take off your shoes, leaving your shoes, and put on soft, new slippers. We lived on the second floor and went up the stairs. The staircase is solid, with steps, finished with polished wood, but I noticed the absence of a railing. The intuitive fears subsequently disappeared completely. The room is spacious, even excessive in size for a hotel room. Everything is new and clean. A table with two armchairs, on which: an electric kettle, a set of dishes, tea, coffee, bottles of water. A spacious bathroom with the necessary toiletries.
And what was especially admired were the kindest and attentive hosts: father Batyr Saidovich, his son Utker and his wife Zinaida. Their hospitality and openness evoked memories of the times of the Soviet Union. We arrived from Bukhara in the evening, a little tired, seeing that they kindly invited us to dinner, which took 2.5 hours in a cheerful friendly atmosphere, as if we had known each other for a long time. We told each other a lot of interesting things and went to bed late at night. Zinaida clarified with us the time convenient for breakfast and food preferences.
And every morning, with great pleasure, we had breakfast at 9:30 in the living room, accompanied by gentle music. The breakfasts were varied and delicious: porridge, scrambled eggs, sausages, vegetables, fruits, cheeses, oriental yoghurts, sweets, nuts, dates, a teapot with tea, which you slowly pour into your favorite bowls, and by the end Zinaida brought freshly brewed coffee, we could not refuse it.
After a hearty breakfast, we set off to conquer Samarkand. We practically didn't take a car for all these four days, we walked because many attractions were nearby, convenient location. Any questions that arise could be asked and consulted: what to visit, where to eat, what to buy, how to bargain better, what not to miss, despite the fact that the Internet was at hand.
Special thanks to Zina, on her advice we visited the SAG carpet factory, bought two amazing carpets. We warmly recall staying in this guest house and getting to know this family. It was noticeable that they were doing this not for the sake of income (they have a larger construction business), but to meet new interesting people.
Thank you very much. Damir, Elvira.
A wonderful place: convenient location, friendly hosts and delicious breakfasts! I recommend it!

We liked everything!!! Fantastic hosts will answer all your questions and help you solve all your requests : if you want a restaurant to celebrate your holiday, they will book a table and take you to the appointed hour, you need local flavor and delicious samsa or pilaf - you will really find yourself in the best places in the city, We are grateful to all family members and Zinaida, and her husband, and very grateful to the Father of the family - this is the sweetest intelligent person, with with him we spent the whole day traveling to the homeland of Amir Timur Shakhrisabz in a comfortable car through the pass and ate the best lamb from tandoor in the mountains , with him we chose rice for pilaf and winter melons at the country wholesale market ... The location of the guest house is very good , on the border of the Old and New town .We walked a lot, but Yandex taxi is cheap. Check-in and check-out at the hotel from scratch to zero is incredibly convenient and allows you to prolong your rest. Breakfast was written about in all reviews, but I want to add that they are not only plentiful, delicious, but also healthy -homemade eggs are environmentally friendly. A very delicious baked omelet in the oven and an extraordinary coffee. The rooms are clean, spacious, the beds are comfortable , there is a refrigerator and everything else, and if something is not there, you need to tell Zinaida about it and everything will be fine . And most importantly, I want to say that all the reviews that I read before and after the trip are real and each complements the other and I really want to give the highest rating. All of us who visited this family hotel are grateful for the rest, for the pleasant impressions left about the country and about the people living in it. We wish you health and strength, may your business prosper for many years to come. We definitely recommend you to those who are planning to go and even to those who have not thought about going to Samarkand yet
