A place that is filled with energy. You don't have to be a Muslim to feel this. By the way, there is a delicious restaurant nearby where you can try real Turkish apple tea and delicious baklava ☕️
One of my favorite places in Istanbul. Great views and atmosphere!
The Suleymaniye Mosque is the second largest and, until its opening in 2019, the first mosque in Istanbul. It is located in the old part of the city, in the Vefa district.
The mosque was built by order of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent by architect Sinan in 1550-1557. The dome is 53 meters high and 27.5 meters in diameter.
It's all very majestic.
Suleymaniye is a huge complex with schools (madrasas), a hammam, kitchens, a library, an observatory and the crypt of architect Sinan. The total area of the territory is about 70 thousand m2.
There is a cemetery in the courtyard of the mosque, and Suleiman himself is buried here in two neighboring mausoleums.
One of the many beautiful locations in Istanbul.
It is convenient to get here from any area.
We recommend walking across the white bridge (where the metro stops) and climbing the streets into the hill. Only 15-20 minutes.
The way back is either through the Grand Bazaar or the metro/tram in any direction.
Beautiful territory and beautiful architecture. And most importantly - a great view point!!!
A selfie stick is a must, especially for an overview photo of the city.
A large and clean toilet.
There is a lunch break. Closes early.
The Suleymaniye Mosque is a real pearl of Istanbul and one of the most impressive monuments of Ottoman architecture. The majestic building of the 16th century impresses with its scale: four minarets rush into the sky to a height of more than 70 meters, and a huge dome seems to float in the air.
The mosque's interior is stunning in its harmony and sophistication. The stained glass windows are especially impressive, through which soft light pours, creating an amazing play of colors on the walls and floor. Elegant calligraphy, geometric patterns and delicate painting - all the decorative elements are thought out to the smallest detail.
Suleymaniye is not just a mosque, but an entire architectural complex built in 1557 by order of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. Chief architect Sinan has created a real masterpiece here, where every detail is thought out to the smallest detail. The complex includes a hospital, a madrasa, a library and a hammam - a real city within a city!
The courtyard with a fountain for ablutions deserves special mention - an atmosphere of peace and tranquility reigns here.
Important tips:
- Come early in the morning to avoid the crowds of tourists
- Be sure to take a headscarf to cover the head (for women)
- Dress modestly, covering your knees and shoulders
- Don't forget to visit the tomb of Suleiman the Magnificent
The mosque is located on one of the seven hills of Istanbul, offering stunning views of the Bosphorus and the city. Make sure to reach the observation deck!
The largest and most beautiful mosque in Istanbul is the Majestic Suleymaniye.A
place of peace and tranquility.. A place where you can feel the thrill of touching a great story.
The territory of the mosque is well maintained and green! The mosque offers an amazingly beautiful view of the Bosphorus and the city.
It is difficult to describe emotions and feelings in words. It's worth visiting here at least once in your life! ❤️
*Admission is free! At the entrance, a long skirt and a headscarf are given out for visiting.
The Suleymaniye Mosque is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places in Istanbul. This is the second largest and, until 2019, the first mosque in the city, built by order of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent in the 16th century. There is a special atmosphere here.
The well-maintained courtyard of the mosque with a garden and terraces, which offer wonderful views of the Bosphorus and the Golden Horn, creates a feeling of peace and tranquility. There are mausoleums on the territory of the courtyard, where Sultan Suleiman himself and his wife Hurrem are buried.
Every time I come to Istanbul, I make sure to take the time to visit the Suleymaniye Mosque. Here I always find harmony and inspiration, immersing myself in the atmosphere of the greatness of the Ottoman Empire and its rulers.
A historic beautiful place!!!! It is absolutely free for tourists to visit, and even the mosque is open to everyone during prayer. The area is very clean and well maintained!!!! The tombs of Sultan Suleiman and Hurrem Sultan amaze with their splendor! If you are planning a trip to Istanbul, I recommend that you definitely visit this wonderful place!!!!
Perhaps the best mosque in Istanbul that I have been able to visit. The mosque itself is beautiful, the courtyard is spacious, the view of the city and the bay is wonderful. I was very lucky, there were few people, I even managed to take a photo where there are no people at all - and this is something incredible for Istanbul)))
Admission is free
Beautiful! It's great! There is an interactive panel inside that you can view and read. We were a family, everyone liked it. The energy is great. The mosque is operational, but tourists are allowed in. It's a historic place after all... and the Grand Bazaar is nearby.…
One of the favorite places in Istanbul🙏 I come back here every time, the atmosphere is amazing, you feel peace here and the panorama is magnificent. I've been to many mosques, but this one is special to me.
It is a very impressive place, the interior is simply mesmerizing with the volume of the hall and the chandeliers are made very beautifully. There is a good view from the outside and the tombs of Suleiman the Great and Haseki Hyurem Sultan that can be visited.
If you are in Istanbul, be sure to visit the Suleymaniye Mosque. You can immerse yourself in the majestic Muslim culture. You will hear how beautifully namaz is sung. The inside of the mosque is very beautiful, the feet are buried in soft, red carpets. And you can also see various burials, including Suleiman and Khurem.
And the mosque itself is beautiful, and around it there is a small park, a cemetery and tombs of sultans. The mosque offers a beautiful view of the city. Entrance to the mosque is free, and there is a free toilet on site.
It's a very cool place, with a special energy. Impressive architecture and gorgeous views. If you are in Istanbul, be sure to visit the Suleymaniye Mosque.
Everything is beautiful inside. There is an excellent observation deck next to the mosque on the terrace with a magnificent view of the Golden Horn, the Bosphorus and the Asian part of the city.
The mosque is majestic, a place of peace, the territory is well maintained, There are mausoleums in the courtyard, where Sultan Suleiman and his wife Hurrem are buried.
The mosque has a very beautiful view of Istanbul and the Bosphorus.
Of the free attractions, this mosque is simply 100 out of 100. It is very beautiful and monumental. A must-visit. We spent money on Sneakers, but we didn't experience even half of this delight.
Very impressed!!!! A calm, clean, beautiful place. The scale of the building is impressive. Inside, it is possible to take literature in several languages for free (an accessible semantic translation of the Quran). You feel free in a mosque.
The iconic and most visited place in Istanbul. It is the second largest in Istanbul.
It is easy to get to it from Eminenyu. We also stopped at the Egyptian Bazaar on the way. Beautiful views and an overview of the entire bay of Istanbul. It is especially exciting when you realize that the building was created in the 16th century...
The place is iconic among tourists. The mosque is beautiful. The cemetery at her side is a place of pilgrimage for lovers of Turkish history and fans of the Golden Age series. The mosque offers perhaps the best view of the Bosphorus.
This is the most beautiful mosque in Istanbul. Everything is tidy, clean, calm. The view is very beautiful. Climb the hill, but not for long. I definitely recommend this place.
Grandiose, majestic, beautiful, must-see in Istanbul. I really liked this masterpiece giant. There is something to admire, there is something to compare.
A historic place! The air is "saturated" with centuries-old history! Among the bustling Istanbul, there is a place where it is quiet, peaceful, and peaceful.....this is the Su Mosque!!
We came here only on our second visit to Istanbul and did not regret it. A beautiful courtyard and a view of the Golden Horn Bay and the city, the mosque itself, although smaller, for example, Sultanahmet, but somehow more cozy or something. Perhaps we were lucky that there were few people. Definitely worth a visit
After a Magnificent century, a must-visit. The mosque is beautiful, the atmosphere is positive. The mausoleums of Hurrem Sultan and Sultan Suleiman himself are located in the courtyard.
A large area. Beautiful view of the Bosphorus and the city. Of the mosques in Istanbul, it makes the most impression. Huge, Majestic and Magnificent, like Sultan Suleiman himself. Here you can plunge into history and visit the tomb of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and his wife Hurrem Sultan.
A magnificent place with a history! The history of Suleiman's reign! Every particle of this place is an emotion, an indescribable feeling! Anyone who wants to come to Istanbul should definitely visit the Suleymaniye Mosque, the heart of Sultan Suleiman!
Just whoooooo. The grandeur of the mosque is fascinating. When visiting the mosque itself, keep quiet and speak in a whisper. Because people are praying there and your noise can distract them. When we were praying, a mother and her daughter came to the prayer area for women and started talking loudly with her daughter, they came to take pictures. Do not forget to take a headscarf, you cannot enter mosques and tombs without a headdress.
Amazing, and a hundred times Amazing!!!! Great) peace and quiet live in this great place, I dreamed of visiting and now my dreams come true. I advise everyone.
The mausoleum of Sultan Suleiman and his family members is located next to the mosque, and Hurrem Sultan also rests separately.
It offers a wonderful view of the city of Istanbul.
There is a very beautiful mosque and park around. There are guides inside who can tell you about the history of printing and Islam in different languages! It's sooo interesting!
It's a beautiful mosque, and there are many times fewer people than in the Blue Mosque.
I was brought here by people's reviews, I read that Sultan Suleiman and Hurrem Sultan are buried here. It's interesting to touch the real story.
There is a beautiful view of the Bosphorus behind the mosque.
A beautiful mosque. There is a beautiful observation deck nearby. I come here every time I visit Istanbul. It's a great place, especially if you know its history.
Probably one of the most beautiful and oldest mosques in Istanbul. Magnificent view of the Bosphorus, the Golden Horn and the Galata Tower area. The place is a must-visit.
It's a little difficult to find an entrance from some sides. The adjacent streets look abandoned… The complex itself is very beautiful and majestic. Incredible view of the city.
My most favorite mosque. She looks like Sofia. The tombs of Suleiman and Hurrem are nearby. The view of the Golden Horn, from the backyard of the mosque, is simply amazing
Suleymaniye Place in Istanbul is one of the most famous and beautiful tourist spots in the city. It is located on a hill and has a magnificent view of the city.
One of the main attractions of Suleymaniye is the mosque of Suleiman the Magnificent, which was built in the XVI century. It is famous for its beauty and architecture, and is also an important religious place for Muslims.
Sulaimaniyah is also home to museums, libraries, schools, as well as many parks and gardens where you can enjoy the beauty of nature and get acquainted with the history and culture of Turkey.
I would recommend visiting the Suleymaniye place in Istanbul to anyone who is interested in the history and culture of Turkey, as well as loves beautiful architectural structures. This place is definitely worth a visit at least once in your life.
I definitely recommend you to visit. There is a large area for walking, you can sit in the shade of old large trees. The old cemetery in flowers and the crypts where the Sultan and his family are buried..... Views of the Bosphorus Strait and Galata Tower. The toilet is cool

It's a very atmospheric place. An interesting mosque, next to the mausoleum of Suleiman the Great and his family. The mosque is located on a hill, offering stunning views of the Bosphorus and the sights of Istanbul. The mausoleum closes at 18.00, so if you plan to visit, keep in mind. A must-visit. After that, you can go down to the Bosphorus through narrow authentic streets.
A very beautiful mosque! I liked it more than the others. It is spacious and the yard is very beautiful. There is an observation deck with a beautiful view
The harem of Suleiman Sultan
When the film magnificent century was released, I really dreamed of watching the harem, the dream came true
It's a very nice place, it really captures my soul.
An architectural masterpiece!
The observation deck offers a beautiful view of the city and the Bosphorus!
Visiting this place leaves vivid impressions.
A huge plus is that the visit is free, unlike also Kariya, which is on the outskirts for 20 euros per person, if they write that this mosque is not inferior to Sofia, which has a queue of 500 people, then Istanbul mosques are about nothing, in Cairo they are much more beautiful and much more accessible.
