The infrastructure is developed, do not count on cheap cafes, I only took breakfast, but I upgraded to HB, we just need it. Keels nearby, market, wine shop 300 meters. The ocean is absolutely crazy, dangerous and gorgeous), at night in a room for 3!!! an iguana got on the floor, pulled mango peelings out of a bucket and ate on the balcony, that's what I was really stunned by, I specifically asked for a higher one, it turned out-not a panacea, flogging (local)), got in! You don't count on the beach, it's not there.
On my return, I will add)): I recommend the hotel to visit, despite the lack of a beach, a stormy ocean is a common story for the west coast, but decent, by Sri Lankan standards, food)), cleanliness, good bed linen must still be searched, even a large star does not always guarantee the best quality of service. There are also authentic art objects in the interior everywhere in the hotel, it's so cool.

A very decent hotel. Clean, tasty, the staff is very friendly and polite, many speak Russian. They congratulated me on my birthday and handed me a cake for breakfast even the next day, because on the birthday itself we were on an excursion: They left early in the morning and returned late at night.
There are many chipmunks, herons, monitor lizards on the territory of the hotel. Access to the beach is closed, the shore is fortified with huge boulders, but this did not prevent us from enjoying life in the least.
The location is excellent, facing the street, where there are many cafes and shops, all within walking distance!

We stayed at this hotel from 11/20/24-11/26/24, then went to the Aralia resort hotel. This hotel is wonderful. Very beautiful and big by Sri standards. Delicious breakfasts - everyone will find something to eat . We bought dinners for 4,000 rupees and were happy because there was a very large selection and delicious. They tried to eat on the street, but for the same 4000 you get some nonsense and go hungry. The rooms are large- ask on the 3rd floor. The country is wet, things don't dry well. And now the most important thing is yes, there is no beach, but buy yourself a SIM card (only for a passport) and download the pickme app - take a taxi for free and go to Benota - that's where the beach paradise is. In benote, the beach is big and clean, the approach is smooth, there are waves, but not strong at all, jumping on them is a pleasure. If you need calm, then of course you need to go to unawatuna. If you buy a SIM card, then all the programs will remain on your phone - whatsapp, cart, banks. Everything works. Buy a SIM card with the Internet. Have a nice rest

Nice hotel , solid 4 . We rested for 19 days and were satisfied . Delicious food , friendly staff, at the reception too, there are shows in the evenings. The territory is good , large , near a 5-star hotel you can use their infrastructure. Cleaning is daily , linen is changed too , we always left good tips , perhaps that's why we always had a perfect cleaning and even brought lotuses in vases , also treated with insect repellent . The pools are clean, the water is warm, it is better to take sun beds in advance, there is a Playground, spa treatments. The beach is normal. I recommend this hotel 🏨

The hotel is large, but very tired, the bathroom is mildewed (as everywhere in Sri Lanka), everything is peeling and in need of repair for a long time. The hotel is on the first line, BUT there is no access to the beach, the entire coastline is fenced off and there are boulders along the coast, I had to go swimming in Bentota - an hour there, an hour back (minus 2000 rubles every day for the road). There are cafes and shops nearby, there were no problems with food, which cannot be said about the breakfasts at the hotel - they are just terrible, I don't understand who writes that they are delicious, just animal food, absolutely everything is inedible! We had pineapple for breakfast, they're passable.
The hotel is also located in Kalutara - it is very far from all the attractions and good beaches, it is very far and nerve-racking to drive, the traffic is terrible.
Among the advantages: a room on the third floor with an ocean view; friendly staff; quiet and safe.

We had a rest in April 2024. The hotel is decent, well-maintained territory. We got to the New Year, there were a lot of locals. It is better not to come for the new year. Nothing worked around for almost a week. The rooms are tired, the air conditioners are working, but somewhat strangely. In the morning, condensation forms on the walls (the walls flow). Insects live in the rooms. There were a lot of spiders in mine, and local cockroaches (large, can fly) in the next one. There is a variety of breakfast food (I liked scrambled eggs in a coconut basket the most), there is a selection of fruits, breakfast cereals, porridge, local cuisine. About the beach. He really isn't there. Whichever way you go. If you leave the hotel, you can swim near a small stone, there is a guard sitting on an improvised bench from the hotel, you can leave things with him. The sea is not calm, but very warm. Interesting black volcanic sand. It is better to take a tuk-tuk and go to the neighboring beaches, which we did. Of course, it was sad that here it is the ocean, but it is not accessible. After a crocodile swam onto the rocks near the hotel, the desire to swim in the ocean disappeared from the hotel. Therefore, we swam and rested near the pool. The pool is good, there were enough sun loungers for everyone. Many different birds, chipmunks, monitor lizards came. Interesting. Beautiful views and gorgeous sunsets. There is a tree on the territory where flying foxes live. And there is another point that should be taken into account when choosing a room. It is better to take it with a sea view right away, otherwise they can put you in a room on the railway. I'm shooting a star for the lack of a beach. Have a good rest!

The hotel does not have its own beach, only a swimming pool. But there are two of them, since the territory of the two hotels is not separated by a fence. The rooms on the ground floor smell damp and there are mosquitoes. It is better to take the numbers above. In addition to the air conditioning, each room has a large ceiling fan. It is very convenient when you sleep at night. You turn off the air conditioner and sleep with a fan, you definitely won't get a cold. Overall, the hotel is not bad.

This is a good hotel! For Sri Lanka - very even) It's not new, you have to understand, but the service, regular room cleaning, change of towels, friendly staff, a magnificent pool with a bar in it, chipmunks on the lawn and gorgeous ocean views - all compensate! I advise you to take a room on the second, third floors. I lived both downstairs and upstairs: the view from above is better. I do not recommend trying to take someone from the locals to the hotel: I tried - he was arrested, and they threatened to deport me, fortunately, only in words)

The hotel is good!
Pros: Friendly staff, checked in much ahead of time, the rooms are good (there was a sea view). There is a great pool in the courtyard with a bar and sun beds, if everything was occupied, then we asked a tall guy from the staff, he always freed up the sun beds for us. There are yoga classes on site. The breakfasts are normal - you will not stay hungry, we had lunch and dinner in local cafes, there are a lot of them, but I really liked Natalie's cafe - right at the entrance to the hotel, the owner Danuka and Leila are very attentive, they will always help, they will bring everything, they will tell you everything, also if you eat with them, then there are many bonuses, for example they take you by tuk tuk to the center of Kalutara for free, the food is very tasty! Immediately after moving to the cafe on the right, I also liked it, there was another one, I don't remember the name - I didn't like it - it wasn't delicious! It was a birthday, a cake was prepared and presented at the hotel, and Danuka launched a fireworks display!
Cons: the hotel has no open access to the beach, there is a fence, as the coast began to wash away, it was covered with stones. Access to the beach is open through the neighboring hotel (they have a single territory). The beach is not wide, without sun beds. There are waves, we liked it. We went to the white sand beach in Bentota - we liked it much more.
If you want to come to this area of Sri Lanka, then I recommend the hotel, if you want more beautiful beaches, then you need to go further to Bentota, Hikkaduwa and Gale, read the reviews more carefully and see the photos.

They didn't let me go to the gym because I wasn't wearing sneakers, but orthopedic open shoes (which hold my foot well). Moreover, the day before I was running on the track in them and no one said a word to me.... The hotel is located among the slums and is separated from social life. To walk the streets and go shopping, you have to drive by car or tuk-tuk for 40 minutes. Not a small hotel. When you arrive, they move you into the old rooms, but if you don't like it, they then change to a new room. The cleaning in the room is so-so, regardless of the tip, they always clean up alone. The food in the hotel is good, but there are a lot of spicy dishes, few pastries, only tea from drinks, (there are juices for breakfast).
The hotel does not have a beach, there are huge stones and there is always a red flag hanging. You will swim there only in the pool, there are several of them. When you leave the territory, tuk-tuks are on duty there, I suggest taking you wherever you want, they say the price is too high, you can bargain and negotiate 2 times cheaper, they will take you and bring you. There is nothing to do at the hotel in the evening, just drink alcoholic beverages.
In general, the hotel is good, there would be a beach, I would put 5 stars

They tried to move into a terrible dungeon on the 1st floor. The receptionist lied that there were no other rooms. We've come to sort it out. It turned out that the numbers appeared in a wonderful way))) the room was still not very good, but at least on the 3rd floor.
The food is spicy almost all, but delicious ice cream and breakfasts.
The beach has completely washed away, now you need to go to the neighboring beach of another hotel.
There are a lot of locals on this beach who impose their services, the hotel administration does not solve this problem in any way.

Excellent location, spacious swimming pool, good entrance to the ocean. Rooms of average comfort. On the ground floor, instead of a balcony, there is a small terrace with access to the garden or pool.
Please note that all rooms are for two, an extra bed is provided for three for free, and a fourth bed is available for an additional fee ($4 per day), even if you have confirmed four people staying.
The food is acceptable, there is European and Asian cuisine. A very diverse selection of fruits (pineapple, papaya and watermelon). There is an all-inclusive option, I advise you to take it.
The biggest disadvantage is no service, starting from the reception, to waiters, bartenders, cleaning, etc. - they do not have the task of providing comfort to guests, and generally do not want to move at all. Because of this, I don't want to go to Sri Lanka anymore, because this is a mentality, not a problem of a particular hotel.
