Well, it's good that they are restoring, it's good that the entrance is free. But it's not interesting yet, unfortunately
There are a couple of rooms with exhibits, excavations.
A cool and really interesting museum, partly open-air.
It is necessary to take a guide, it is not expensive and worth it! We were guided by an energetic and interested student. It was possible to discuss the issues of interest to us, thanks to him for that. They speak both Russian and English too
Keep in mind that the museum is open until about 19h and come in advance.
Of course, it has become beautiful and the territory has been improved, but there is still a lot of work and imagination to invest. And of course finance. But what was and what is... Respect! Well done! I've been walking and driving past this clay mountain for almost 50 years, and now it's a pleasure to see and practically plunge into medieval architecture! I really like it!

It's a good historical place. There are a lot of authentic antiques. The staff is friendly, there is a lot of information to explore. The atmosphere of the excavations and, consequently, the ancient way of life is well conveyed. I recommend you to visit!
It is very interesting and informative! Having a free guide who can tell you in great detail about the life of the ancient city in a very interesting way - special thanks for that!
It's a great place. Extensive location, there is something to see (I spent about two hours there). There are many photogenic objects. I enjoyed the visit.
The "ancient city" in a modern way. A very poor and unremarkable museum, the most interesting thing is an interactive screen with a story about the object. But! There is not a single illustration in the stories explaining what it is about.
There is no chronological exposition, everything is fragmentary and unscientific. The walls are already crumbling, the paths are falling through - a new building in a hurry. In general, it's a good idea, but the organization and implementation are unsatisfactory. Of the advantages - inexpensive, beautiful view of the city and very sparsely populated)
Great idea, good execution, satisfactory content, unsatisfactory content... Dear bosses, this is not the way to treat the historical memorials of the city and the history of the people... Come to your senses!!!
It is a good place to go there with your family or if you are visitors. The rooms are well decorated in the style of the old era. They will show you everything if you need it and tell you
If you want to plunge into ancient history, then this is a wonderful opportunity. A visit to the fortress will leave positive memories, although you need to be careful with people in a position, because there are a lot of ascents and difficult flights of stairs.
There are fish on fishless and crayfish. A place where you can spend some time once in Shymkent. Ruins, there is a good exposition among them. It's hot on a sunny day. Do not forget about protection.
Here you can immerse yourself in the atmosphere of ancient Shymkent, I advise you to definitely visit, you will not regret, choose a time when the climate is favorable
There is not much left of the ancient city, to put it bluntly, the museum is on the site of the old settlement, the city wall has been restored from concrete. But the view of the city is good, it's worth coming at least because of it
In principle, an interesting place, but it seemed empty. In summer, it is possible to be much more interesting both in terms of exhibits and information component. One star was shot not for the ancient city itself, but for the horror that begins outside its walls, where supposedly the old quarters of the city look like favelas that have just survived the war.
It's beautiful, but it didn't work out very well with the entrance price. There is no information in either Russian or English. They took more and didn't give me a check or a ticket.
The interior is beautiful indoors, but there is no word about excavations anywhere. It would be possible to make information by QR or just a nearby stand.
In general, I recommend you to visit!
