The Gate of the Heavenly World is the main entrance from Tiananmen Square to the Forbidden City. You will have to wait here because of additional security checks. The impressive building had great historical and symbolic significance back in the time of the Chinese emperors, as well as for the Communists under Mao Zedong, and therefore it is a must-visit while in Beijing.
We walked around Beijing in the evening. But unfortunately they got there on May 1. For the Chinese, this holiday has not lost its Soviet scope. Especially the beginning of the May holidays. Everyone comes to the capital and goes with flags, with children to the main square. Like in Moscow on Red Square at the moment of fireworks. But everyone is checked through identity ids (ID cards) before entering, lining up in crowds. Who lived in the late USSR remembers. The Chinese were surprisingly obedient. No one grumbled. At 22 o'clock, the police decided to stop access, although the square in front of Mao's portrait was empty (by Moscow standards). I liked the ancient pillars. And so the impression is: if the Soviet Union had lived to the present day, then we would have had the Beijing order. We passed by chance (the policeman turned away) Advice: do not visit this square during the May holidays.
Tiananmen Gate, I saw it for the first time in person. A beautiful square. To get there, tourists need a passport, if they do not have one, then admire from afar. The queues are huge in the morning, especially in summer, when schoolchildren and students have holidays. In the evening, the place looks beautiful too, the lighting works all over the area.
I visited Beijing for the first time and saw these historical monuments. The military and police are polite. The locals are calm. The architecture is beautiful. China is an interesting country
Consider yourself at the Kremlin wall... evokes. The place of parades and grand imperial gates! The history of China - or rather its last dynasties! A huge space!!!!
