We had a great time here at the end of November 2024. The perfect beach with "postcard views" struck at the very heart. The crystal clear turquoise ocean is maddening. The depth of the coastal zone is very convenient. Mechanical cleaning of the coastal area is carried out daily. There are no problems with sun beds and towels, places under umbrellas. You can also retire and find a company that suits your soul and interests. A cozy pool with a bar. Excellent correct and animators. The cleaning of the rooms is clear, daily, neat, even touching. We took a fumigator with us, but we didn't need it, it was quiet in our room with an ocean view, with mosquitoes, but we recommend taking this device and some kind of insect spray with you, just in case, because by night mosquitoes can find you on the hotel grounds. Electrical outlets are universal, no adapters are needed for devices with the Russian standard. Of course, the responsive staff always fulfills all requests immediately and selflessly. No one demands tips here, even by hints, but when you get here, you yourself will want to thank these wonderful people somehow. In general, tips are at your personal request, and employees will be grateful in a good way and a simple human thank you. Meals are organized with round-the-clock facilities. Breakfasts, lunches, dinners are a classic buffet with a choice of any meat, there is always fish, we had fruits without frills, ice cream during lunch and dinner. Russian soup lovers are unlikely to be satisfied with the proposed options, but this is also there. It was a little unclear to us why hot tea or coffee is often not available at the buffet, but this does not bother us at all, since any drinks are always available in the lobby bar or snack bar. In general, after the buffet, everyone is happy to flow into cozy bars and enjoy. The pinocalada is beautiful here, but the mojito will not be as bright as you are used to, but it can also captivate with its sophistication if you do not refuse to add a touch of alcohol. Coffee in the lobby bar makes any of your fantasies, as always, cappuccino in different variations is a hit. We have found an opportunity to relax here. We recommend installing a translator with Spanish and English on your phone anyway - this will help in any communication, because the staff has problems with the Russian language. In any case, we could always explain ourselves to any employee who would do everything to make both sides understand each other. It is very pleasant that the coastal area of the ocean has no access restrictions along its entire length - you can walk in all directions and get additional impressions. Coconut palms grow on the territory and any gardener will be happy to cook you a coconut and he will always have a cocktail tube - do not hesitate to contact, it's funny and you will be satisfied, and by contacting the bar you can stir up some cocktail in this coconut and enjoy all this luxury. We definitely recommend this hotel.

We were from December 13 to 27, 2022, the weather is good, the ocean is warm, there was a lot of food until December 25, the hotel was filled by 50%, after December 25 a lot of people came to celebrate the New Year, in the dining room queues sweep away everything, there is not enough food, those who did not manage to enter the dining room in the first rows will remain hungry. Rice and vegetables are added, meat is NOT. It is better not to go to the hotel on holidays.
Otherwise, everything is fine, we arrived at the hotel at 7 a.m., immediately checked in. The excursions are very expensive and clueless. Internet by card for 3 hours of use. Transport rental is not available due to the sanctions.
The room stock is average, often something breaks. But the staff responds quickly. The food is good, there were often seafood (2021). The chefs are excellent and friendly. I don't know how it is now. Last year we were at another hotel, it was much worse. Cocktails are made at the bar without any problems. But the most gorgeous is, of course, the beach. The water is clean, the shore is constantly being cleaned. The animators are well done, they are constantly active and attentive to the residents.
Well , how to say it ! The main thing was that it was a honeymoon , so we didn 't look for any disadvantages) The beach is great ... there are excursions.. the guide speaks Russian and English at the same time... the Cubans cook poorly in this hotel.. but the staff is very polite.. the main thing is to tip either dollars or chocolates and chewing gum... the pool was clean.. There were animators .. the rooms are clean but old.. In the end, bedbugs were biting ... there is not much place to walk outside the hotel ... only the Chaika shopping center ... the water completely disappeared on the island .. and there was no water in the whole hotel for 3 days))) take gifts , protective equipment , mosquitoes and bedbugs with you .. in the end, they left it to the hotel staff.. and so the experience of the hotel is excellent, especially for a family holiday!

We vacationed at melia cayo coco 5* in November 2022.
This is not the first time in Cuba, so this hotel can be said to be the best.
The rooms are a bit old. But everything is very clean, neat, everything is in working order. The rooms are quiet, no one bothers you day or night.

A large green area. There is a sports center, archery, table and lawn tennis, a billiard club, a small crocodile farm. The pool is quite large and clean. 4 bars. The bar is open 24 hours a day at the reception.
A spacious central restaurant with a variety of food. There were seafood all the time. The choice is quite large. No one will stay hungry for sure. There is a snack bar by the pool, where you can always have a snack. There is a restaurant on the beach. There is slightly less choice for breakfast/lunch/dinner. But it has a beautiful view of the ocean. Bars prepare a lot of different and really delicious cocktails. We haven't tried everything in 12 days)) There are no problems with alcohol and nutrition at all. Unlike many other Cuban hotels.
There is also an a la carte restaurant. For entertainment in the evening, you can go there. But the food is no different from other restaurants. They are very wise with the feed and the whole difference is))
Very clean and quiet beach.
The only disadvantage of this hotel is that there is no civilization around. There is only one single store within walking distance, about a kilometer away. But for some, this is also a plus)
There are a lot of mosquitoes in the evenings. The hotel stands on the lake on one side and there are a lot of insects there. Therefore, it is worth taking a reppilent with you. Mosquitoes do not fly into the rooms. But at dinner in the evening, they will eat all the exposed areas of the body.
There is often no change in the shops on the territory, so it is better to take more small bills with soy. Dollars, euros and the local currency are used here. In principle, there is no point in changing it for local money. And only cash. There is no card payment at the reception or in the shops.

The ocean is magical. The food is very scarce and not tasty in my opinion (and not only mine), but you will not stay hungry. The hotel itself is shabby. We lived in block 9, room 963. We had no insects, the air conditioner was working and there was hot water. But of the whole company, only we had such luxury)))If possible, ask for block 9, it's better. Cubans love us and this is a big plus, they will generally adore us for tips, and this is normal, the service sector is still. But I'm unlikely to fly there a second time.
The ocean, sand, air, sun, birds - everything is super. The hotel is not bad, but it is too old and all the problems that result from this greatly spoil the impression. The food is not bad, although they say that it has become very poor after our departure. Good daytime and evening animation. Delicious coffee and other drinks at the bar. Excursions are very expensive, although the choice is for every taste. In general, it will do for once.

In the evenings, they are masked, they do not buzz but bite, then blisters and itches, who will go take ointments especially for the child. Every evening there is a performance, music can be heard in remote buildings, as if you are at a disco. If you are eating for the sun and the ocean, then I recommend it, if you think that it will be like in Turkey, you should not even consider Cuba. There is no such thing here. Cuban doesn't give a damn))

Positive:
- the beach, a long beautiful beach where there were always enough sunbeds and even mattresses, quite clean and well maintained
- the rooms, in general, I had no complaints. Yes, they are already tired, but they still quite correspond to the class. It was cleaned regularly. I really liked the beds. Really great mattresses and pillows. I got a great night's sleep.
Minuses:
- Food (both the main restaurant and themed restaurants) - did not like it. They just don't cook well, that's all. I got the impression that themed restaurants serve the same food as the main restaurant, only slightly decorated when served. Of course, you won't stay hungry, but I don't remember any of the dishes at all.
- The staff. I have no illusions for a long time that there are any traditions of hospitality in chain hotels, but usually the staff through their teeth still shows some interest in you. Here, everyone cares about everything, both for tips and without - the attitude is equally indifferent.
- Infrastructure. According to the description, there are a lot of things, in fact - that's how it is, but you don't really want to use it: you can't push in bars, the animation is monotonous and lazy, the gym is tiny and dead, the territory - well, you can walk back and forth, but if there is an option to walk along a long beach, then trample on the territory for sure You won't want to
In general, if you only go to the beach, walk along the shore and limit yourself to a room, then it is quite a tolerable hotel option. If you expect something more from the hotel, then look towards Melia or hotels on Pilar

An ordinary hotel, nothing remarkable, mostly Canadians come, most of them, and our tourists. A good beach, food is good, entertainment is like everywhere else on Cayo Coco. A lone flamingo walks around the territory. Who will go to this hotel, look what happened to my Christmas tree - I planted it for the new year in 2021 on December 31.
Not a bad hotel for Cuba. But with a "tired" room stock. They try to patch it up, of course, but it doesn't always work out. There are ant chips and cockroaches. A complete nightmare.. starting from the rooms, ending with the food
The ocean saved the rest.. beautiful, warm, affectionate
We are currently staying at this hotel until July 2. The tour was taken for 10 nights.
One of the advantages can be distinguished:
* Large well-maintained and green area. Gardeners clean and mow the lawns every day (by the way, you can buy a royal coconut from them for $ 1)
* Ocean and beach. A clean and very beautiful ocean, a beach with a gentle entrance without corals, hedgehogs and debris. Snow-white sand. Periodically remove algae, if any. There are plenty of sun beds and umbrellas. There is a bar near the beach with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and snacks.
* Alcoholic beverages. All drinks are of good quality and they are not burdened, they make delicious cocktails (pinacolada, blue coco, blue lagoon, tequila sunrise, Spanish coffee and many others). Cuban rum (Havana Club), Olmega tequila, in general, there are no problems with this here.
* Children's club. I haven't seen what the kids are doing, but they seem to be entertained, they play various games on land and in the pool, and in the evenings they arrange a children's disco.
* The air conditioning in the room works without interruption.
* Excellent bartenders, I don't remember all the names except Leisell and Ariel. They joke, chat and do their job perfectly.
* Swimming pool. There are two of them here. One is the main one and the other is small, people don't swim there much. There is a bar in the main pool in the center, you can swim up and savor a delicious cocktail on the bar seats. The pool itself is large, there are areas for children and adults. At 12:30 and 16:00, the animators hold games in which the winner gets a bottle of white rum. There are many sun beds with umbrellas.
* A double-decker tour bus runs through the hotels (fare is $ 5) from where you can get to the most beautiful and instagrammable beach - Pilar.
* Room cleaning. There were practically no complaints during the entire rest period, except that they did not particularly wipe the dust off the surfaces. Towels are changed, water is brought, paper is given. The floors are cleaned well. We always leave a dollar tip.
* Comfortable pillows in the room. They are so cool, long like sausages, they look like pillows for pregnant women))
* You can pay with a credit card everywhere. Funds are debited in dollars at the exchange rate of your bank, which is very convenient.
Of the disadvantages, you can highlight:
* Old, shabby room, dead plumbing, weak water pressure (room 816). Good pressure is only in the bidet, sometimes you have to wash in it, because in an ordinary sink there is absolutely trouble. There are no brushes!!! This is the first time I've seen this. Poor sound insulation (loud conversations of Cubans from the next room and a working TV were constantly heard).
* Wi-fi works intermittently, it constantly crashes and you have to constantly re-log in, it's terribly annoying. There was no communication in our room at all.
* Animation on 4 with a stretch. Animators seem to be there, but they don't seem to be. They only appear during any games. They don't communicate with tourists at all, of course I haven't seen this in other countries, they don't understand Russian, only a couple of phrases, but they make interesting shows. The dance team is great.
* Poor nutrition, but fish and meat are always enough. Basically all the food is bland and either very salty or under-salted. There are no salads, all vegetables are separate, confectionery of three types, does not taste very good. They explained to us that Cuban chefs are self-taught. They are not sent to study abroad and chefs from other countries are not brought to them, so you will not feel any special delights here. There were plenty of fruits, but pineapples and mangoes were always quickly sorted.
* Waiters and staff at the distribution in the restaurant can not cope with the flow of tourists. Due to COVID restrictions, you have to wait until you are served, you cannot put food on yourself. Either you need to increase your staff or work faster.
* There is no infrastructure outside the hotel, there is nowhere to go for a walk, so it will get boring on the 5th day.
* Mosquitoes. This is a separate cry of the soul. Stock up on repellents and antihistamines, because mosquitoes are evil here, you can't hear them, but they already land 10 pieces on your face and body and bite (( And they are everywhere: in the restaurant, in the lobby, by the pool, even on the beach. Mosquito repellents in the store here are expensive ($ 7 for a small bottle of spray).
* A crab may crawl into the room at night or during the day during cleaning. They are different here, there are big and small ones. A small crab has become more frequent, which also jumps and hisses when you try to drive it out 😅
* Everything is expensive here, despite the fact that Cuba is a poor country. In a government store, for example, which is not far from the hotel, after-sun lotion (a small bottle) costs $ 15. 15!!!
* There is no pharmacy on site, so you need to take all the necessary first aid kit with you. In Cuba, in principle, there is a problem with pharmaceuticals everywhere.
* One table tennis table and one billiard table. Sometimes there is a queue to play. And there's nothing else to do here.
* Ala-kart restaurants have the most tasteless food that I have tasted in my life, I do not advise you to waste your time visiting them.
* Dollar to Euro exchange rate 1:1. Despite the fact that from 06/22/2021 the news came out that in Cuba it is now impossible to pay in dollars, only in euros, the service staff is happy to accept tips in dollars. You can also buy a tour in dollars from the guides or pay with a credit card (Apple Pay does not work here).
The main tips:
* Do not exchange currency in pesos! The peso is not quoted here at all, tipping in pesos generally seems to offend the staff
* Take a first aid kit and repellents. There are no pharmacies, mosquito repellents are expensive.
* Try to pay with a credit card. There is such a great chance that the seller in the store, for example, will not deceive you in the price, as if you were paying in cash. And the course turns out to be more profitable.
* If you take cash, take dollars. Preferably small bills of 1 dollar for tips.
* Stock up on sunscreens with an SPF of at least 50 units and be sure to take hats and sunglasses. Here you can burn both on the first and on the fifth day. The sun does not spare.
* If you are flying out of season, like us, then be prepared for the fact that it may rain. They happen for 5 minutes, and sometimes for two or three days.
I would hardly have come here again. They say that other hotels are more interesting (Pullman, Flamenco). I advise the hotel manager to listen to the reviews of tourists and correct the shortcomings, then everything will be fine. The main thing is to teach the chefs how to cook deliciously. Most of them do not want to return here precisely because of the food.

After reading the negative reviews, I really want to stand up for my now beloved hotel. I agree, I have nothing to compare it with, it is possible that the grass is greener and the food is tastier in the neighboring hotel, but I came to the Cayo Coco Trip and never regretted my choice! The territory is clean and pleasant, the staff is polite and friendly. I swear, not a single employee of the hotel even sent a glance, everyone is smiling and trying to help if you contact them. How could they be rude to someone? It's hard for me to understand, maybe their reaction was in response. I just don't have any other suggestions.
The rooms are tired, but I only needed a room to sleep and change, so there are no complaints, I'm probably not too picky. Oh, I almost forgot about the shower, but there were no problems with it either. They settled us in the most extreme building of the 14th, the silence, tranquility and noise of the ocean outside the window and a lot of cats on the territory is just paradise.
Animation, again, apparently, I have nothing to compare it with, but I'm delighted with the guys!!! They are just unrealistically cool! Zumba exercises are held in the morning, crazy games, beach volleyball and football in the afternoon, and a show in the evening (this is something unreal) and the disco, I attended everything and I liked everything. By the end of the vacation, the animators became like my family and this despite the language barrier (I speak only my native Russian).
Food, this topic deserves special attention. Yes, the food is unusual for us, Cubans do not like to bother, but I did not starve, in the morning I ate an omelet with vegetables (very tasty), at lunch and dinner fish with vegetables, and of course fruits, you can't run away with desserts there))) but the ice cream is delicious. I did not stay hungry, even there was no need for snacks even once. Someone writes that there is nowhere to eat, I disagree, in the lobby bar and in the grill bar you can always ask for sandwiches, I tried them, they are quite edible. The drinks are delicious, cocktails are in the way, my head didn't hurt, so I can assume that they are of high quality.
The ocean is of unreal beauty, the white sand is also gorgeous, there are enough beds, canopies too.
The midges bite, but I can't say that they bothered me more than at home in the Moscow region, maybe there aren't many of them there in winter, I don't know. I took the repellents with me, but I didn't use them.
Maybe I forgot something, but that's okay. Will I come back here again? Definitely yes! And by the way, many tourists came with me, who did not come to this hotel for the first time. I had a rest from January 21 to February 2, 2022.

We decided that this was nonsense, the main thing is that there are no sand fleas and bedbugs in the rooms, as in other hotels. We are not pretentious tourists, but it's really terrible here. Of course, the hotel has advantages. The proximity of the chaika store, round-the-clock drinks in the lobby, sandwiches in the afternoon and afternoon, give beach towels, put 1.5 liters of water in the room per day per room. Cocktails are normal. Imported alcohol is everything. Live music before the evening animation. Sometimes they sing, sometimes they play, for example, the saxophone. And they do it very efficiently. The only people in the hotel who wanted to tip. This is where the advantages of the hotel end. Everything they write about food, about service, about rooms is true. The room stock has obviously not been updated since it was built. It's just a shabby old thing. Everything was OK in our room with water. Upon check-in, they were given a room on the ground floor with a view of the second pool. Building 11. When we came in, the air conditioner was working, the plumbing was checked, we decided not to change it for an additional fee.the fee. By nightfall, they realized that it was impossible to stay in the room with the air conditioner turned off, it smells like a basement, mustiness. Nothing dries or blows at all. After reading about insects on the island, they took insect repellents with them, including dichlofos. We processed the entire room in the late afternoon and left. There are enough sunbeds on the beach now, which is not clear in the season. There are almost no canopies. Excursions are very expensive. We took 4 excursions for two from Pegasus - 710 euros. We thought that nature would brighten everything up, and everything else is small things. But, believe me, nature is separate here, the hotel is separate. The main food item is very overshadowing the rest. You will not be able to ignore what is happening there. We didn't pay 160 thousand to relax at the expense of tips. You can tip if you like everything and you want to thank the staff, and not to be treated normally. This is the first time I've seen animation work on a distribution in the dining room. First, everyone works at breakfast, then the staff disperses around the territory-who goes to bars, who gives out towels, who writes to restaurants a la carte, who organizes leisure activities for vacationers. I really liked the hotel. I especially liked the very friendly staff, senorita Lucy at the reception is charming! Be prepared for a lot of insects, mosquitoes. The food is fresh, but bland, grilled fish and meat. Take soy sauce with you-you won't regret it) the breakfast was good, but the child of 6 years old did not have much... Take your cereal, cookies, milk powder if you drink coffee with milk. I didn't like the farewell dinner, everyone was sitting hungry and waiting for food, but I really liked the animation. Bring all medicines with you, there is nothing in Cuba :) the place is fabulous and beautiful. Have a good rest!

There is also a river on the way to the main restaurant and lobby, from which there is such a terrible smell that it is simply impossible. I regularly float feces on it.
On the second day of our stay, an entire window on the terrace just fell out. How it didn't kill anyone and didn't crash, I do not know. Mold in the rooms, dirt (the maid does not wash, only change the bed linen and towels). The taps and plumbing are all covered in lime, everything is already green. It's disgusting. The hotel is just in ruins. The air conditioner did not work in the bedroom, in the living room only at maximum power and in the coldest).
The road is in holes, it is unpleasant to drive with a stroller. Lawns and the landscape are dead (with such rains, you can have English lawns, even in Egypt it is much better). 2 crabs died near a small pool, and they lay there for a whole week, decomposing, no one removed them. I have repeatedly seen male workers relieve themselves literally on the path, next to the bushes. This is nonsense!!!

So I went with my daughter for 3.5 years. The flight is quite bearable. One of the disadvantages is the tasteless food on the plane, we took our own. It is worth noting that before that I had a vacation only in Turkey. At a price slightly cheaper than a vacation in Cuba.
We arrived at the hotel at 7 a.m. They settled in at 15. But I got a room right next to the ocean (845). At first they were given in the 11th building, but at the request they changed it to the one that was requested without any problems.
The territory of the hotel is very large, but monotonous. The beach is about 2 km away. There is a tennis court, an air-conditioned gym. Large pools. For me, there was a minus - different depths. I had to constantly watch so that the child would not go where it was deep. The children's pool was dirty and no one had cleaned it in 12 days.
We found a children's room for 10! day😂. It is closed (not outside) and it is very cold there (the air conditioner was turned on). There is animation for children, but it is weak and designed for older children.
In the evening at 20.30 there is a children's disco. 30 minutes. They attract parents. But the animators speak both Russian and English poorly. More precisely, they don't even try very hard. They talk on their own for their own (the Cubans are the majority there). So I had to adjust as I went along, just looking at everyone on stage. They don't let them win, they pretend not to notice, they arrange for the children of Cubans to win. However, they also won competitions for adults.
Three meals a day. I can't say that it's tasteless, but I don't want to collect plates either. You will find something to eat, but in 12 days there is no variety (chicken, fish). I miss Russian cuisine. They gave me a piglet once. Tea bags, coffee is quite good. Most of the alcohol is rum. Champagne got only 1 time, unsweetened.
There are very good waiters, and there are those who ignore them. But if you accompany each meal with a tip ($ 1-2), then the attitude will immediately change for the better. We took - straight salvation. Towels are given under the signature. One couple had problems. They were counted 4 instead of 2. I do not know if they paid the fine, but be careful. The pay is decent.
The rooms themselves are ordinary. Without luxury. But they clean up every day, okay. Moreover, they made figures out of towels, regardless of whether you leave a tip or not (I checked on purpose). Shampoo and gel give large jars. It was enough for the whole vacation. Plus soap. Towels are changed daily. I left pills, perfume (unnecessary), $. The beds are comfortable. Pillows too. There are no warm blankets. The first night I was afraid that we would freeze under the blanket, but no. Very comfortable. It was a little damp in the room, but the linen was drying (on the balcony). The floors are tiled. But it is understandable, laminate will not withstand such a climate.
The Internet constantly needs to be extended at the reception. Every 5 hours. For 2 days (on weekends) he was not there at all, they took him to a nearby mojito hotel. Ask the Russian guys. By the way, the hotel is cooler than trip. But it is understandable. Iberistar after all. I would have known, I would have looked at him. But the food is said to be the same everywhere, plus or minus, because the state distributes food to hotels in the same way.
The same password is valid at the airport as at the hotel. But I didn't ship the films. There is not enough speed.

Dear vacationers, do not repeat our mistakes and do not go to this hotel under any pretext!!! Everything they write about unsanitary conditions, dirt, food, etc. is unfortunately true. We are not picky and have rested in many places, But we have not seen such horror. I will not write about the stains on the bed, the floor, the scratched furniture and the hotel itself, that's not what we were going for, you can still close your eyes, but the quality of the food, its very preparation, the lack of dishes, appliances and complete indifference of the staff are no words .... the food is disgusting, everything is like for pigs in the literal sense , flies, mosquitoes, birds, dirt, stains everywhere, the stench of the river under the restaurant (if you can call it that...) discourages all desire to eat, but there is a hunt, you go to a stuffy restaurant a bunch of poor people in search of edible food, in masks dripping with sweat, running around looking for appliances, dishes (15 minutes) then a queue for meat and fish for 15 minutes, then running after a restaurant employee just to drink ....complete indifference of the staff , all evil are rude...the food is of the lowest quality , I would say its complete absence ! There is nothing to feed children from the word at all !!! We've been starving here for 5 days, yesterday we wanted to catch seagulls on the beach and roast them.
