Vardan Mamikonian (c. 388) was an Armenian commander (Sparapet), prince, national hero, saint in the Armenian Apostolic Church, leader of the Armenian uprising against the Iranian Sassanians, who tried to impose the Zoroastrian religion. Having inflicted great damage on the enemy, the Armenians were able to defend their right to remain Christians.
The commander Vardan Mamikonian sits on a horse with a sword in his hands. The monument is made of copper and is installed on the street of the same name opposite the Vernissage Flea Market.
