It is interesting that for the first time the Eternal Flame was lit in the Brest fortress not at its current location, but at the powder magazine on the Kobrin fortification. It happened on September 19, 1965, during the rally of the winners of the All-Union youth march to the places of military glory of the Soviet people. In the same 1965, the bowl with the Eternal Flame was moved to the memorial stone on the site of the future monument to the defenders of the fortress, installed in 1961. In connection with the start of work on the construction of the memorial in 1968, the Eternal Flame was moved again - to the ruins of the building of the 9th frontier post and the 333rd Infantry Regiment.
The Eternal Flame is located at the foot of the memorial to soldiers and the sculpture Courage. The bowl of eternal flame itself is made in the form of a star, next to it are inscribed the words "stood to death", "glory to the heroes". A memorable place, worth a visit.
