The first obelisk was installed at Oak Park, next to Pushkin Street and Erkindik Boulevard, in January 1948.
36 years later, the memorial was dismantled.
The new monument appeared in 1984. The 17-ton statue was decided to be placed in front of the Historical Museum, on the central square of the Kyrgyz capital Ala-Too (at that time it was named after Lenin).
On November 7, 2003, the monument was moved to a small park behind the museum.
Squirrels are running around nearby.
