It is a very beautiful and pleasant place. I recommend it to everyone to visit. If you are going to Sukhum, then on the way you can stop there to admire the views and feel the atmosphere of this miracle.
There is practically nothing left of the castle, but the view of Sukhum Bay is magnificent, and to touch the centuries-old history, it is worth climbing for this, although the climb is not easy, especially in hot weather, and leave your mark))
A delightful landmark, unfairly forgotten by the tourism business. The problem is that Tsar Bagrat 2 was a Georgian king, albeit of semi-Abkhazian origin. As a result, the place suffers because of politics. Cows are walking in the castle))
This is not a castle, it's almost the ruins of a castle embedded in the ground ...
There are no pointers on how to reach these ruins (fortunately, reviews on the sites helped), there are some pathetic and completely uninteresting fragments of brick walls on top... In general, only the panoramic view of the sea and Sukhum from this mountain turned out to be good.
We found it the second time, the first time the navigator took it wrong (the photo shows the correct route) there is practically nothing left of the castle, only a wall with a window and that's it, admission is free, the cafe does not work on the mountain
We came up here on purpose after reading reviews about the beautiful view. The view is gorgeous, it's not long to go uphill. There are several signs at the end of the path, except that the gate may confuse, but it is open.
In addition to the ruins of the ancient castle, a surprise awaited us - a small cafe with drinks and possibly pastries and a barbecue (we came too early, they cook food after 14:00).
Even an 8-year-old child liked the view.
A beautiful place! There is some kind of special energy. Walking uphill is quite difficult in the heat. But it's free there, you can make a bunch of beautiful photos)
There are a lot of reflections, very beautiful, here's the problem with the photo. The phone sat down at the most crucial moment, perhaps you can repeat it later.
The castle is a very loud word!
Or rather, what's left of it!
I looked at the photo in Yandex and went. In reality, the expectation does not correspond to reality!
Don't waste your time, it's not worth it!
Well, they knew how to build for centuries. It's a pity to be in such a state

There's not much to see here, but the view is stunning over the whole of Sukhum, the sea, and the mountains. It is very difficult to climb there, the road is narrow and bad, two cars will not separate in any way. There is a good cafe on the top, 350rubles for a large khachapuri in Megrelian. There is a toilet.
If you find yourself in Abkhazia, I advise you to visit this ancient creation, the castle of King Bagrat of the 10th - 11th century, was built in honor of the Abkhazian king Bagrat the third and served as a fortress protecting the southern approaches to the city and controlled the Sukhumi port. By the way, there is a great view of the city from there. Recommend.
You can get to Bagrat's castle by going up the Mountain Bagrat street, which is located almost opposite the pension MVO. In fact, only one wall about 1-1.5 meters thick remains of the fortress/castle, and some other destroyed parts are ruins. The viewing window has been preserved. Wonderful view of the city, the snowy peaks of the Caucasus and the sea from the height of the mountain.
There's nothing left at all. A few walls on the mountain and that's it. There is no way to get there by car. We need to walk a little bit, through the gate, which we barely saw. Besides, it was closed from cows, so we thought we couldn't get through. But in the end we went through it. It's a pity, of course, that nothing has been preserved. There are just ruins left.
Nicely. On one side there is a view of the sea from the mountain, and on the other side there is a view of the mountains.

As a historical landmark, it is poorly decorated today. It is clear that something has been done. The signs are there, there is an information sign, but it is installed in such a way that you can easily pass by. The road seems to be made and maintained only by the surrounding residents. In general, there is also a good viewport
There is a beautiful view of the city, especially in the evening. There is almost no castle left as such, only a part of the destroyed wall. A mini cafe is open during the day. It's worth visiting once, especially in the city itself.
We drove by car following the signs, when they ended we found ourselves in some private sector.Yes, the views from that area are beautiful, but we never found the castle, but I had to run away from a feisty dog😆
