On December 16, 2024, at 00:20, I unfortunately checked into this hotel. The receptionist, whose name I think starts with an "M" (possibly Marcus), treated me extremely poorly. He swore at me in French and English behind my back. Even when I was present, he raised his voice and forcefully slammed the room card, specifically the post device, in front of me. Normally, I would have left to avoid further interaction, but I feared for my belongings being damaged if I stepped outside, so I stayed. Since he had access to the room, I assumed he could enter while I was in there, so I put anything I could behind the door. I really regret not leaving and finding another hotel. I’ve stayed at many different hotels through Booking, and my Genius Level 3 status is almost complete, but I’ve never experienced anything like this.
Here’s the issue: I paid the full amount including taxes through Booking, but when I arrived at the hotel, I was asked to make an additional payment (I know about the tourism fee, and I would’ve paid 20 times that amount if necessary, but he didn’t even let me check my reservation on my phone). He refused to let me check it on my phone, stating that I could sort it out tomorrow if there was any problem. The most important things in hospitality are personal safety and good service, and with this employee’s unprofessional behavior, it’s clear that those standards were not met. How can I even evaluate or rate the room when basic expectations of courtesy and respect are not being met? I will not let this disrespect slide and I will pursue my rights through other channels.
