Al Maktoum Airport left an impression that is difficult to forget. Its unusual compactness is striking from the first minutes of arrival. During all six hours of waiting, I saw only one flight, and I have not seen such a thing even at Petrozavodsk airport.
Despite the relative silence and low number of flights, Al Maktoum Airport has its own unique charm. It is not devoid of a certain mystery and calmness, which, perhaps, can be found only in such non-standard places.
However, it is worth noting that for travelers accustomed to more active traffic at airports, this place may seem too secluded. Nevertheless, Al Maktoum provides an opportunity to enjoy an atmosphere that is different from ordinary airports, and this certainly makes it an interesting and unique place for transfers.

We arrived in Victory, the hotel was in Ajman, it took 1 hour and 20 minutes by taxi. It was frustrating at first. But the airport is empty, all the procedures for getting luggage and getting out to the pick-up taxi stand took little time, very quickly.

A large airport 40 km from the city center.
Arrival.
We were taken by bus from the plane - perhaps due to the fact that the Azimuth (which we were flying) as soon as it can, it reduces the cost of its flights. Customs passed quickly, about 8 booths worked. After customs, the luggage was already on the tape.
From the airport, you can take a taxi, of which there are a bunch at the exit, on which there is a sign about a taxi. Landing 20 dirhams. The Emirates Mall costs about 120 dirhams in total.
You can also leave by bus (runs every 30 minutes) to the final metro station Expo 2020, but for this there must be a transport card on which there must be at least 12 dirhams. There is a card replenishment machine near the bus stop, but it only accepts cash.
Departure.
Check-in starts 2.5 hours before departure. We arrived in 3, and the registration was already open.
Passport control is automatic - you approach, put your passport on the scanner, then the ticket and look into the camera yourself. If everything came together, the automation skips. There is an employee there who helps.
There are a couple of shops in the waiting area, the prices are slightly higher than in the shops in the city. There is a cafe on the second floor - at 5 in the morning only it worked. Near the exits there are vending machines with water, yummy and hot drinks.
There are many places near each exit. There are markings that include our plugs, so you can charge your phones.

They held it for 20 minutes, then it turned out that the floor of the plane was selectively kept under additional control. At the same time, they did not ask anything, they constantly talked to someone on the phone and asked "what happened?" They didn't answer. It's a terrible airport, there's a couple of fast foods to eat, there's nowhere to sit properly. Everyone sleeps on top of each other, much less duty free.
