The museum is great for those who are interested in applied art and the history of the people. Many thanks to the guide Samira for an interesting story. The exhibits are beautiful, everything is clear. It would be interesting to see more national costumes - there are not many of them. It was not possible to take an audio guide (they said at the checkout that it was not available). And in general, thank you for the positive emotions!!!
A great place to hide from the sweltering heat and sip the local flavor. Inside there is a coffee shop, a coworking, a library, a souvenir shop, luggage storage and, of course, a museum exhibit. In my opinion, it is better to go with a guide or an audio guide — I was without them, and there was a great lack of explanations of the symbolism of ornaments and images on carpets. There are explanatory signs somewhere (in English and Azerbaijani), but the time was limited, so I missed a lot — the place was still amazing. There are few people, national music is playing, and women are weaving carpets in life mode. I want to come back here!
I liked the carpets more in the Heydar Aliyev Center. There are wonderful plots, bright colors and a sufficient story. The carpet museum has a fairly large space, there are carpets from past centuries, technologies and tools are presented, how carpets were woven, how wool was obtained. If I had only seen the exhibition at the Heydar Aliyev Center, I would have had more than enough impressions. I would advise you to look at the carpet museum from the street and go spend money elsewhere)
The museum is a must-visit in all guidebooks and is located at the intersection of the main tourist arteries. Carpet art is a cultural heritage, of course, but in general the museum is a bit boring, even with an audio guide. The prices in the souvenir shop are simply cosmic, it is not possible to buy anything in it, but it is a pity. The building has an original shape, but the interior space is not used functionally. The ticket price is very reasonable, it makes up for everything
The Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum was established on March 13, 1967. At the time of its creation, it was the only specialized carpet museum in the world. Everything is interesting here. The building itself is built in the form of a carpet rolled into a roll. The guide told us very interestingly and in detail about the history of carpet weaving. The meaning of the drawings on the carpets. Natural dyes were used. There are antique carpets on display and new ones.
The architecture of the museum itself is very interesting, in the form of a half-unfolded carpet. The exposition itself is quite informative. We were very lucky with the guide , I learned a lot of new and interesting things from her . I highly recommend this museum!
Recently I had a chance to visit the Museum of Azerbaijani Carpet, and I was very impressed by this wonderful place. The museum is located in a building made in the form of a rolled carpet, which immediately attracts attention and creates an atmosphere of mystery.
Inside the museum there is a huge collection of Azerbaijani carpets made in different techniques and styles. The guide told us about the intricacies of weaving pile and lint-free carpets and showed us how these works of art are created. I especially remember the story that a dragon is often depicted on carpets, and if you see a mysterious figure on the carpet, you can most likely say that it is him.
In general, the Museum of Azerbaijani Carpets is a wonderful place for those who are interested in the culture and traditions of Azerbaijan, and also want to learn more about the history and art of carpet weaving! :)
Sincerely, Apartments Crown39

Briefly about the main thing for those who do not hang a carpet on the wall
["Carpets used to be in every house, but now they joke about it: a photo on the background of a carpet has become synonymous with bad taste, as well as the carpets themselves on the walls.
A kind of funny and ridiculous relic of the Soviet past"]: "... often a dragon is depicted on carpets, and if you see some mysterious figure on the carpet, you can most likely say that it is him"!
The main thing is short - Monday is a day off...
Postscript: "... only for the sake of the carpet museum [the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum was established on March 13, 1967] can you go to Baku," and I served there in 198? in the so-called "Wild Division" (Salyan barracks).
We came to Baku for a few days and decided to visit this museum. From the outside, the building looks majestic and interesting from the point of view of design, there is no doubt. Having gone inside and bought tickets, without a guide, we managed to walk through all the halls up and down in 15 minutes - the time does not fit at all with the scale of the building from the outside, alas. In general, it will be enough for 1 time. Of interest is the history of the development of the carpet-making craft, real national costumes and musical instruments, the opportunity to purchase a carpet or a small rug as a keepsake.
The National Carpet Museum. Azerbaijan is Baku. It is open from 10:00 to 18:00 on Monday. The exposition consists mainly of carpets that are located on two floors. It probably makes sense to explore with a guided tour. The cost of the visit is 10 manats. In addition, for three manats you can see a jewelry exhibition. They don't let you rent a small room. But I think it's worth a visit. In the Museum you can see how the craftsmen weave carpets, which is called live. A mandatory place to visit if you are in Baku. The examination will take at least two hours. Numerous souvenirs are sold and the opportunity to analyze the carpet and obtain permits for export abroad.
In general, Baku shocked me with everything. People, the city itself. The atmosphere of love and goodwill. The museum is a confirmation of all this. With love for my people and with love for all mankind, that's the motto of this people, it seems to me. I wish prosperity to the people and the country.
A great museum, everything is very informative and interesting, there are storage rooms and you can hide from the heat
It takes an hour and a half to visit and it's definitely worth the money
The museum is impressive starting from the building itself, it is decorated in the form of a carpet😅 It looks very cute and impressive.
And the carpets themselves are just a work of art - so many styles, patterns, compositions, ornaments, which, as we learned there, are connected with the region where these carpets were made.
If you are ever in Baku, I highly recommend visiting this place.
There is a discount for students of any country, a ticket will cost only 3 manats.
I do not understand the claims of many that there were no inscriptions in Russian, but only in English and Azerbaijani. And what exactly did you expect? English is an international language, and Azerbaijani is the native language of this wonderful country. In addition, you could take a guided tour with a guide who explained everything in Russian wonderfully.
I liked it very much. A modern building. The exhibits are placed in a good viewing volume - the space allows. Escalators between floors, cafes. The exposition is rich and diverse with interactive stands. I recommend.

A wonderful museum with wonderful exhibits!
3 floors -2 only about carpets, on the 1st floor there are ticket offices, souvenirs, a place where workshops and a bar are held.
The audio guide was not working at the museum during our visit. We found an audio guide on the Internet and listened with great pleasure to what types of carpets there are, how they differ, what patterns are characteristic of a particular region, how wool was processed and dyed.
The museum staff is friendly and courteous.
The ascent and descent is carried out by an escalator, there is an elevator.
You can leave a review in the review book.
I sincerely recommend you to visit
A modern museum revealing the beauty of carpets, their history of use not only in homes, and the craftsmanship of weaving. It is interesting to visit it with an excursion.
On the second floor, you can see the craftswoman at work.
There is also an exhibition of national costumes
I didn't take off the star for wildly expensive souvenirs. Even in the old town, the same thing is much cheaper.
An interesting museum, well-decorated exposition. You definitely need to go with a guide to learn a lot of interesting new things about patterns on carpets.
It was interesting, beautiful, and even they gave me a chance to weave the carpet myself. It is located in a beautiful park. It costs 10 manats. There are not only carpets on display.
A beautiful building outside in the form of a rolled-up carpet. The inside is also quite interesting. Various carpet weaves and the stages of their creation are presented.
We saw live how carpets are created.
But when looking at carpets began to feel sleepy, apparently because of children falling asleep while looking at carpets.
Carpets are revered in Azerbaijan (your grandmother would be pleased, a joke).
There is a separate museum, which is located in a modern building in the form of a rolled carpet. Inside the work from different regions of Azerbaijan.
I love carpets and have long wanted to visit this museum! I found out about it when I was in the museum at the carpet exhibition in Kazan, and so I was lucky to be passing through Baku.
The museum looks cool from the outside and interesting inside. There are a lot of carpets and they are all very different and beautiful.
The museum employs women who weave carpets and you can look at this process, which is very fascinating and interesting.
There are cells where you can leave your belongings.
There is also a shop inside where you can buy various souvenirs.
An interesting modern building in the form of a rolled-up carpet. On one side there is a museum and on the other side there is a restaurant. Near the Deniz mall commercial center, the embankment and the park. A good place to relax
The museum building impresses with its architectural find and size. You can talk a lot about the need or lack of need to visit this museum, but to see with your own eyes how a carpet is woven is worth a lot. It's such an art! And it is very nice to see a lot of children who are brought to the museum for a puppet show. I recommend you to visit as an opportunity to touch the living historical beauty.
A good place if you have time. But this museum is definitely not the first place in Baku to go. Nevertheless, I did not regret being there, the carpets are beautiful, but most of all I liked the modern approach to the museum and the architecture of the building itself. Ideal for people who love aesthetics, authenticity and minimalism)
One of the must-visit places. From the outside, it looks like a half-rolled carpet. This shape makes it possible to view carpets from three sides.
The carpets are arranged in such a way that we see them from the origins to the modern style. If desired, you can ask for a guide.going up to the 2nd floor, we can observe the carpet weaving technique live. It is this fact that attracts the largest number of tourists.
My friend and I visited the museum in early October 2023. Asya Khanum and a wonderful colleague told us all about the palace carpets, showed us all the features and secrets of the drawings. The carpet with a pattern in the form of a bracelet, which belonged to the Asi Khanum family, is still in front of my eyes. Dear guides and curators of the unique collections of the Carpet Museum in Baku, I congratulate all of you on the upcoming 8th of March and wish you well, happiness and feminine flowering. See you soon!
A pleasant museum, located on the embankment. The shape of a rolled carpet. Inside there are 2 floors, carpets are hung along the walls, very beautiful, there are small samples that you can touch with your hands. There is video material, clothing and products that are made of carpets, such as boxes. Carpet weaving machines are also presented. There is a small cafe on the ground floor and a shop.
It's beautiful, but I expected more, perhaps with a tour it would be more interesting and informative.Quiet, clean, cozy and beautiful.More work needs to be done on the interactive!
The museums have two floors with carpets. In addition to Carpets, there are national costumes, souvenirs on the ground floor)) the museum itself is very modern and beautifully decorated. If we compare it with the Istanbul Museum, then it is about on the same level. If you haven't been to similar museums, then I advise you to go))
It 's not a bad museum . But we were very unlucky with the guide - she barely said something under her breath according to the script: "here we have this, and here it is - let's move on. This is the end of the exhibition." Everything about everything took 20 minutes . At a time when another guide was simultaneously telling two women with such gusto and with so many facts that they wanted to listen without ceasing ( they were very upset . Probably not worth visiting without a guide , nothing special
Carpet Museum, Baku 🇦🇿
Handmade carpets today and hundreds of years ago are just a work of art: there are so many styles, patterns, compositions, ornaments that, as we learned, are associated with the region where these carpets were made 🗺️
The joke about watching a carpet instead of a TV is not a joke at all. Some carpets can really be viewed for hours. Especially when there are not just patterns, but various plots and stories 🪡🧶🪢
The museum is impressive starting from the building itself - it is decorated in the form of a rolled carpet with an ornament 🤗

An unusual museum, I have not met such in Russia, we were without a tour and were satisfied, the price is 5 manats for children, 10 for adults. Two carpets were made in our presence. I liked the movie how silk is dyed with wax
The Carpet Museum in Azerbaijan is a very beautiful building with an exterior and very uncomfortable inside. The building has an oval shape in the form of a rolled carpet. Inside, the space is divided very banally into three floors. The exhibits are located at some distance from the visitors of the sleeping districts of the shape of the walls. Thus, the carpets are located far away from the visitors. The light in the museum is dimmed, so the exposition itself is difficult to perceive. Let's say there was also a carpet exhibition at the Heydar Aliyev Museum, and there it is extremely interesting and more accessible for detailed viewing of the exhibits. I think that you can not visit the carpet museum. I didn't take anything new out of it.
An interesting museum, the building itself is very unusual in shape, made in the form of a carpet, interesting exhibitions, information in Azerbaijani and English, there is an opportunity to use the services of a guide.
I really liked this museum. Perhaps because of my inexplicable love of carpets. Well-decorated halls, there is a library with a huge number of thematic books from different countries)
It is expensive and not interesting. There are no interactivity. You can buy souvenirs, there is a cafe. There is a frame at the entrance, bags and backpacks are put in cells

October 14
This place is a must-visit. If you have never been interested in carpets , you will be interested in them. We were with children of different ages from 11 to 17 years old, everyone was interested. Be sure to take the tour, it is not expensive 12 manats (700 rubles) , it is worth it, according to the regulations 1 hour of a fascinating story. In fact, we received 1.5 hours , special thanks to the guide Ainur , it is clear that the person knows and loves what he is talking about. We bought a carpet in Baku, we were technically well prepared and explained how to do it correctly. The museum has 3 floors , at the time of our visit in October , 2 were working . We will definitely go to Baku again.
It is a very beautiful museum, it is interesting to plunge into the history of the Azerbaijani carpet. Only very expensive souvenirs in their store. In general, I highly recommend visiting!
A very interesting place with a history. It becomes even more interesting with a guide. Did you know that one medium-sized carpet is sewn for 5-6 months?
Actually, it's a bit boring, there's not enough interactive content for a modern museum.
For the visitor, the immersion in the subject is barely perceptible, not in the topic of carpets.
But it's inexpensive, and the building is cool.
An interesting museum , especially the building itself in the form of a carpet .. inside, you can get acquainted with the history of the creation of Carpets and look at interesting products. I advise you to visit with a guide .
the original view of the museum. The interior is simple inside, although the expositions are decent. several carpets are a real work of art. there are no inscriptions in Russian, only English and Azerbaijani. The guide in Russian (for an additional fee) got either lazy, or had a bad command of the language, ran through the entire exposition running, without much detail. the ticket price is 15 manat(750r).
The small museum has two floors, but they are very small. And the second floor is needed to look at the same carpets as on the first floor, only from above. Very small exposure, unfortunately. !!! NOT A SINGLE WORD IN RUSSIAN!! NOWHERE!! And this despite the fact that almost all visitors are Russian - speaking !! Who brings you income??? I think this is a terrible disrespect to my tourists!! Disappointed with everything!! Although I dreamed of visiting the museum , but the whole visit took at most an hour, with a thorough inspection.
The Carpet Museum. We went on an excursion. It's very interesting, the museum has three floors. One floor was closed. It costs 10 manats per person. It is located on the embankment. I advise everyone.
A wonderful place! A large selection of dishes and delicious. The waiters and the manager speak many languages. The men's room is clean, that says a lot.
Two of the three floors are open. Well, carpets and rugs. Well, the ancients. But it doesn't catch on. On the 2nd floor, a lady is weaving a carpet. It's probably interesting. There is a little bit of costume history. For me, it's all dull and boring. The carpet exhibition at the Heydar Aliyev Center is much more interesting
Thank you for an interesting tour!
The museum is wonderful! I was surprised that the dragon depicted on the patterns symbolizes water and fertility, and not fire. The blue color of Baku carpets is the color of the sea. There are exhibits of traditional women's clothing, copper utensils.
