I booked a deluxe room with a balcony and a view of the landmark Galata Tower at the Murat Royal Hotel Galata for one night, costing 50 euros. In fact, we checked into the Corner Garden Hotel, which is located around the corner, and I wouldn't give 30 euros for the room where we spent the night. Now the story itself. This is not the first time in Istanbul, but this has never happened to us before. Having found the hotel, we went to the reception to check in. They introduced themselves, paid for it, and took the key. Going around the corner, we went to the hotel. Having gone up to the second floor, doubts began about whether this was our room? The description stated - upper floor balcony + terrace. When we entered the room, we saw two double beds and another one in a small room. There was no balcony or terrace. The description included a double bed. I went to the hotel employee at the reception and pointed out that we had obviously made a reservation for another room. He checked our reservation and agreed. I asked for 10 minutes to resolve this issue with the management. We agreed. After 10 minutes, he informed us the following - allegedly, there was a system failure in the Booking and this number costs 300 euros. And he is ready to give us back our 50 euros or we stay in the room that was provided to us. The time was 19.00, I didn't really want to look for a hotel to spend the night. I had to agree. The room itself, when viewed closer, turned out to be simply terrible. The toilet was smashed and taped together + the water was constantly gurgling to drain, the bathroom door was in terrible condition, the handle was broken on the window, the wall was cracked, the air conditioner was taped shut and it clearly did not work, the view of the TV system was shocking to tears + there were no batteries in the remote control, WI-FI did not work, usually in the room There are two bottles of water, but this is not about this hotel.
The most interesting thing happened later. I went to the Booking office and checked the price of the room I had booked and it turned out that the price had not changed 50 euros, and not 300 euros.
As a result, fraud was committed - they checked into the wrong hotel. And extortion - they asked for 300 euros instead of 50 euros. I don't recommend this hotel to anyone.
