Uniate Trinity Church built in 1768
Just take a look at these curves of the facade, accentuated by the daytime sun, the multi-layered entablature, powerful buttresses and delicate turrets! What a dynamic!
But it's better to listen to the terms in which Tamara Viktorovna Gabrus, one of the main architectural historians of the republic, describes this object. At first, she describes the temple as one of the most perfect works of art of the monuments of the Vilna Baroque, and for the facade there were such words:
Of course, the main aesthetic characteristics of the Vilna Baroque can be considered the telescopic-tiered openwork-skeletal structure of the towers, a peculiar combination of the deep-spatial structure of the facades with the flatness of the architectural order, the exquisite plasticity of the image of decorative elements and silhouettes...
One of the most beautiful temples in Belarus, this place used to be a Bernardine monastery, it was always surprising how well the place for the construction of the temple was chosen, on the mountain, near the English garden, the architecture is impressive, inside there are many sculptural bas-reliefs, above the entrance the symbol ON, it is recommended to visit, at the moment urgently needs restoration work.
Holy Trinity Church. It was built in 1768 at the expense of the then owner of the estate, Mikhail Domyslovsky, as a uniate. Nearby was the Basilian monastery, where there was a school for gentry children. The famous art critic, sculptor and architect Rafal Slug studied there. In 1839, the Russian authorities liquidated the monastery, and a female Orthodox monastery was located in its premises. The church was also taken away from the Uniates in favor of the Orthodox.
Nowadays it is an Orthodox church. The building is a gorgeous example of the Vilna Baroque with Rococo features. The place is very picturesque and the community is quite polite. Therefore, I strongly advise you to come here.
