Large green area, 3-star meals, you will not stay hungry, there is always a lot of fresh fruit. Bars are everywhere. The staff is excellent, helpful, and friendly everywhere.The wi-fi coverage area is good, but it keeps flying off. There are problems with the key cards in the rooms, I changed them 100 times during the 9 days of rest, the master came 6 times. In the room you can hear everything that happens in the corridor and neighboring rooms. Cleaning is daily. Poor lighting, only bedside lamps. In the room: hair dryer, iron, ironing board, coffee maker, mini fridge, shower accessories. The beach is wide, more or less clean, the entrance to the ocean is good, there are plenty of sun beds. They arrange: a foam pool party, lunch on the street with life-size dolls, live music at a restaurant for dinner, a singer in the lobby. In general, if you focus on the beach, the ocean, you can choose this hotel.

I booked a vacation from 11.12 - 23.12.24 through the travel agency "Clover". I read the reviews, I was more focused on beach holidays.
I was pleasantly surprised, my wishes were fulfilled - a room on the 4th floor with a view of the ocean and even a bottle of champagne and a fruit plate as a VIP client
The room has everything, up to an iron and a coffee machine, cleaning every day.
Every day at 9.30 pm there is a show program, I really enjoyed the water show and the foam party.
The food is varied, every day fruits, smoothies, fish, meat to choose from, ice cream, desserts. The staff is friendly, it is clear that they are trying.
Delicious coffee is made by the girls in the lobby and evening bar.
Exchange money and buy back rum, cigars and coffee, everything can be done at the bartenders, it is very convenient and cheaper than in the city.
I am happy with my vacation, despite the fact that the weather was different, everyone left with a tan))

The hotel is comfortable with a good territory and a large swimming pool, food for three, as everywhere in Cuba, but there is something to eat, the staff is friendly to Russians, and if you throw a dollar for tea, they will find everything on Liberty island)),
the beach and the ocean are PARADISE, you want to come here again and again but the rooms and everything related to the hotel fund remained in the early 2000s. So who is ready to go forward to the past, it is the most, especially walking around Varadero.

I don't understand who's fooling around with this bait. The rooms were a quiet horror, our toilet was constantly breaking down, and the water was put in the room according to the mood of the cleaning lady. She probably didn't have it regularly. Wi-Fi is also a cake. We connected to another hotel. In short, it's just too bad.

Not a bad hotel
Sincere staff, especially if you do not skimp and at least sometimes leave 150-200 pessos or a cherished dollar!
The hotel is tired, of course, like everything in Cuba, but the beach is divine, as well as on the neighboring Bella Costa. Not far away, at the cape is a great place for photos, grottoes of sand of the incredible beauty of the ocean!

The perfect beach, the ocean, pleasant and helpful staff, all try to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. There are plenty of sun beds on the beach and by the pool, a very pleasant area. This is the main thing!
Otherwise, Cuba is a very poor country, this has a great effect on the equipment of the hotel: the rooms are old, the furniture is uncomfortable, the food is scarce. If comfort is not the most important thing for you, then it is an acceptable inexpensive option for accommodation.

Brilliant! The hotel is more like a sanatorium from the USSR (it was also under reconstruction). The food is super, 4 types of meat are ALWAYS there, the fish is always grilled right in front of you!!! The beach is generally the coolest, there are plenty of places, there are a maximum of 30 vacationers)))). But the most unusual thing is that the waiters, bartenders, security, rescuers, cleaners and reception are not really polite people, I have not met this in any hotel! I had a rest in November 2024. Enjoy the ocean and nature, do not count on the service and delicious food at the hotel.
Meal. They don't know how to cook at the hotel. Some types of sausage are edible, fried chicken, stewed meat. Cheese was once for breakfast, it was immediately snapped up and everything (Boiled eggs were also seen once. An omelet is made from some kind of incomprehensible mixture. A la carte is bullshit. The coffee in the dining room is not delicious, in the lobby and by the pool it is better. Rum is always present in any quantity. You can also buy bottles from the girls at the bar. Once I was poisoned with something from the canteen - take polysorb with you for sure!!!
Service. The safe was repaired three times, in the end I gave up on it and kept everything in a suitcase under a combination lock) Towels are changed. But sometimes they don't bring it for the legs. The cleanliness is so-so, but you can live in a room. I lived on the 2nd floor, the rooms are not the first freshness. Also, a small gecko lived with me in the room - it did not cause any inconvenience. Cockroaches ran a couple of times, 2-3 centimeters each)
Entertainments. Animation is held in the evening. Volleyball happens during the day, Masha is a Disaster!!!))) Be sure to bring her beer, her efficiency increases from it!!!)))))))
Beach. There are enough sun beds, the beach is clean, the ocean is beautiful. In good weather, they ride catamarans. For $ 1, the beach cleaner will offer you a coconut)
Excursions. Take Havana from private traders, you will see more! I took a two-day trip to Trinidad, El Nicho and Cienfuegos from a travel agency - I liked it! Everything is slow, with overnight stay at the hotel, meals, etc. Cayo Blanco catamaran and dolphinarium - I also recommend it! Dolphins are just lovely! The island is beautiful, the lobster is fed, the nature is super. + there is time to swim in the ocean with a mask. Caribbean +crocodile farm is fine too! Don't take diving in the Caribbean, there's not much to watch, you can swim there in a mask anyway, they give it out for free! You'll see the fish. On a crocodile farm, you can pet a crocodile and taste crocodile meat for $10. It's delicious.
In general, I advise you, there are a lot of impressions, there are plenty of Russians, it will not be boring!!!

Hotel:
Located 3.5 km from the center of Varadero.
A fairly large and green area, located on a wonderful coast.
From the exit of the hotel to the sunbed on the beach is 100 meters.
In general, the entire territory is well-groomed, you can see everything is not new for a long time, but everything is maintained in an acceptable condition.
Beach:
Varadero Beach is one of the 10 best beaches in the world, so comments are unnecessary =) Who goes beyond the ocean and the beach - here you are!
If there is a green flag on the beach, then you will be given a free sailboat ride, you can also take a catamaran or a kayak for 30 minutes.
For $ 10 of the Sapboard type (plastic only) and for $ 20 per person, you will be taken for an hour to dive with a mask and look at the baited fish 300 meters from the shore on a sailboat (p.s. my wife and I sailed there on a catamaran and $ 20 is definitely not worth it).
Rooms:
You need to check in on the 3rd and 4th floors on the bay side. This sunny side and everything dries out quickly on the balcony, it is quiet (the other side overlooks the bar and if you sleep with an open balcony, they will not let you sleep).
There is high dampness on the floors below, according to other residents.
All numbers are + - identical. Cleaning is done every day, but until you ask, they will not change your towel and bed linen. Well, leave the little things, then you will have swans on the bed).
Upon check-in, prepare chocolate and medicines in advance and present them at check-in at the reception. Someone gave $ 50, but the result was the same as ours with chocolate.
Food:
You definitely won't stay hungry, but there was no variety.
Since the hotel is state-owned, local Cubans check in every Friday to Sunday and by their arrival there is a lot of varied food at the hotel, including lobsters and fish.
But on other days you will be content with fried pork and chicken, from fruits in April guava, pineapples, papaya and several times bananas.
There were always eggs for breakfast, and as the guide told us, this is very cool, since not all hotels can afford "such luxury".
There was ice cream every day, and syrups, jams, but there was no other sweet at all, which was why my wife was grieving, since even in the store you can't buy anything sweet (some of the chocolate for the locals was eaten on their own).
I will mention the Ala Card restaurant separately.
You need to register there at 9 a.m. to the right of the reception. It really tastes better there than in the main restaurant. One of the dinners even served a whole lobster, as well as a pie)
Local rum is poured for you in bars, cocktails are made, you will not stay sober.
But you need to go to the city to get the pinocolade.
Animation:
Dancing, songs, magic tricks on the main stage only in the evening. In the afternoon, at best, they will give you a ball to play volleyball on the beach.
There's a foam party on Friday afternoons.
Where to go:
Every day we went to the city for pinocolades, to the Varadero Bich Club (open after 23:00, admission was 150 pesos, cocktails at 250 pesos), and for souvenirs.
On 40th Street (a cafe with a blue fence closer to the beach), for the first time they ate lobsters for $ 15 for two (and later that evening they were given at the Ala Card restaurant at the hotel).
Dollars were changed in souvenir shops, where the exchange rate is better than that of the bartenders in the hotel.
You need to bargain with taxi drivers, they have a single fare of $ 10 from Varadero to the hotel, but we went by convertible, horse, and local taxi "coconut" for $ 5.
Excursions:
You definitely need to go to Havana and preferably for two days to get into the evening / night life of the city.
Caribbean Sea/crocodile Farm - only if you haven't been there, so it's just a change of scenery for $70.
Trinidad - at the time of our trip there were no excursions, as it is far away, and there is a shortage of gasoline in the country.
Rent a car - I didn't work anywhere at all, since there is no gasoline.
Result:
If you are traveling across the ocean, a beautiful beach, then I definitely recommend Cuba itself and the Tuxpan hotel. If you need a service where you will be licked, then you are not here, or in hotels of a higher class and with a different budget.
P.s. do not think that you will be able to exchange chocolate/medicines/lucky for a bottle of rum, Cubans are already spoiled and will take it as a gift, but they will not exchange it, but only laugh.

The hotel is in terrible condition.
Minuses:
- Old mattresses, springs bulge, it's uncomfortable to sleep;
- The rooms smell musty;
- There are a lot of cockroaches in the main restaurant (they crawl everywhere on dishes, food, on the floor, on the table), it was terrible;
- All the food is not fresh, we only ate eggs, because they cook with you, there is nothing else to eat, we had to take a plate, fork and go wash them, because cockroaches were crawling on them;
- Fermented juices;
- At 7 a.m., people are standing at the door to the main restaurant to get mangoes, a couple of pieces will be cut and that's it;
- Cockroaches crawl in the rooms too (vacationers said this, there were only yellow, small ants in our room)
I've never seen such horror before.

I can give the hotel 3/5. There are no complaints about the ocean and the beach, but everything else leaves much to be desired))
The food is served by employees because of the pandemic, the whole event does not last quickly and is sometimes very annoying, because they often look at the phone or do not see you at all. It is impossible to drink coffee for breakfast, we always took it to the takeaway bar and carried it to the dining room. And you will not be served hot drinks for lunch and dinner.
The food is very poor, I advise you to take anything from home with you, we took protein cookies, chips, sweets, there is none of this here. Queues for very mediocre fish and meat. There are no side dishes other than pasta and rice. Pineapples were wooden, watermelons tasteless, papaya and guava were not bad. Desserts are about nothing.
Everyone in the hotel carries thermos flasks or thermos cups because the cups in the bars are small and in order not to constantly queue, they pour the necessary drink into their containers.
There are no shops and pharmacies in Cuba at all, keep in mind. Money is needed for excursions / taxis / cigars and rum with you.
If you take euros, then only the smallest ones, there is no exchange at all, even with 10 euros you will not be given change, but card payment is possible.
Animation from 21.30 to 23 hours every day. There is a club in the hotel, but no one goes there and the music is about nothing.
The refrigerator in the room rattles terribly, only earplugs were saved. The water in the bathroom does not go away and is cold, the curtain, like the floor lamps in the room, is all covered in black mold. The rooms are damp and cold, all documents and clothes were wet for all 10 days and the same ones came home. I'm not talking about drying swimsuits, you'll always wear wet ones. The same goes for towels. They are given out at the hotel, but you will not be able to change them, they are never available)))) Pizza / burgers /sandwiches are made at the bar near the animation, but it is so long and at what time it is not clear.
The safe is for a fee, we did not take it.
The room extension cost 40 euros (our flight was late in the evening).
Wi-Fi catches at the pool and reception, we caught it on the 2nd floor in the room))) the login and password are given for 5 hours, then you need to extend it at the reception.

Not the best choice of a hotel! I've been to Cuba for the 6th time and I know what I'm talking about. The hotel belongs to the Kubanacan chain, which means that it belongs to the state. And more than half of the vacationers there will be Cubans, especially on weekends. The people are quite friendly, they rest with families and do not crawl on their eyebrows! But due to the local national priority, the service will be primarily for Cubans. The guys collect mountains of beef (which is sold exclusively for currency on the island), cream biscuits and unlimited beer! Perhaps this is all that the hotel can surprise you with. If you read the previous reviews, you will learn about the beauty of the ocean and the sandy beach, but the ocean with the beach in Varadero is the same in all hotels, regardless of the number of stars. So in order:
1. The food is not bad for the first 4-5 days, but then you realize that it does not change at all. After a week, you will be able to find pasta and rice with your eyes closed. These are two products that are most often found in the culinary delights of this hotel. There is another problem, due to the pandemic, it will not be possible to put food on your own, the local staff will heartily serve you full plates of pasta and minimally put meat and vegetables. And you will have an eternal carbohydrate party. So in order to get to the pasta, you still need to stand in line. And the queue with Cubans looks like this. They put one little Miguel in the queue, when she comes up, 7 people are immediately drawn, who take everything that has just been cooked. My record is -14 minutes I stood for a portion of beef, which by the way was of two types! Either with blood, or fried to the state of a sole that cannot be chewed. There was always fish from seafood, there was a smaller queue for it, but in 12 days it did not change and quickly got into the top of the annoying food product. The soup did not change for 12 days - a brew of leftover vegetables and lentils, the taste changed from sour to spicy. It was simply called "Cuban Soup" and looked like a waste-free production process. By the way, it can be poured on its own, Cuban anti-toxic measures do not apply to soups, as well as to bread. For 12 days there was a legend about shrimps, they were really given once, but we came 40 minutes after the opening and only managed to take a look at other people's plates with piles of shrimp husks.
There are a la carte restaurants. There are two of them, but we did not go, being impressed by the reviews of compatriots who had previously been there. When the pasta madness got boring, they took a taxi and went to Varadero itself, found restaurants where they could pay in pesos and ate lobsters and shrimps, the price of which ranged from 375 to 1299 rubles per serving.
2. The drinks and alcohol were tolerable. Havana club especial will be the top drink that you will try, if of course you have time. There is even champagne, but only 3
bottles per day. But every Sunday the bartenders actively sell all the alcohol they have saved during the week. There is an especial for 5 euros and an 8-year-old havana club, which is never put on the bar for 10 euros, and champagne can be bought. Vacationing Cubans take out crates along with cream cakes. Another problem is cocktails, on the 7th day sugar begins to pour out of the ears. All cocktails are sugar-based and with sugar syrup. Of the less sweet cocktails, gin with schweppes. Do not forget that this is Cuba and their rum is really good! After the first signs of diabetes, switch to eating a clean product. Alcohol is offered on site 24 hours a day.
Coffee is not very good for Cuba, especially at breakfast. Tolerable coffee in the Lobby bar, but if you want a good coffee, there is a staircase next to the toilets at the reception that leads to a place called Mexican Plaza, there is a coffee bar with a bunch of different coffee drinks, the only minus is that it works after 3 days!
On Saturdays and Sundays, the hotel arranges for Cubans something like a barbecue by the pool with fried burger patties, and so, freshly picked coconuts are distributed there.
p.s. in Varadero, at the intersection of Avenida Primera and Calle 35, there is a bar called Compas bar. Cocktails from 150 to 200 pesos with good serving, mostly locals relax there, but we liked the place and the taste of cocktails, among which, by the way, there is no sugar! (for example Michelada)
If you like beer, take a glass beer mug with you, they pour 200 grams into plastic glasses everywhere, you can also bring thermal mugs for cocktails and drinks that will help you take larger volumes of the drink with you to the beach.
3. There is animation, but in Spanish and English. The show changes every day along with the actors. At lunchtime, bingo takes place with the main prize in the form of a bottle of rum (in Spanish and English), if there are dance lessons (salsa and bachata) in the schedule, then they are simply on the schedule. There is no disco, except for one hour of loud music on stage. There is a La bomba club nearby, but due to covid restrictions, everything is closed. A guitarist plays on stage before the animation every day, so much for live music!
4. The room stock is quite old, but this is the problem of the whole island, only probably in 5 stars or Starfish you will find more or less modern furniture. The country is in terrible short supply and a flat-screen TV is the pinnacle of a rich environment. I immediately recommend trying to move into the 4th floor, where the view is better and there is less noise. For example, on the second floor there is a view of the canopy and everything that fell on it from the upper floors. Beach towels without deposit, changed wet to dry several times during the holiday. There were no problems! A login and password for wi-fi are created for each vacationer. Initially, 5 hours of Internet falls on the balance, at the end you can extend it for free, put from 3 to 9 hours at a time, it all depends on the mood!

5. The location of the hotel is good, - in 30 minutes along the coastline you can get to the city of Varadero (or 5 euros by taxi), there is also a three-storey mansion with a green roof nearby, it can be seen from the beach. This is Vila Dupont (Xanadi). The first floor is a museum ($5 admission), the second floor is a restaurant with space prices, only with advance booking. By the way, you can book a table through the hotel reception! 3rd floor - a bar with a wonderful view (cocktails from 7 euros). You can get there on foot along the main road or by taxi for 5 euros, you will not be able to walk along the shore, the golf club will interfere.
Be Live Adults Only Los Cactus and Iberostar Bella Costa are within walking distance. You can also walk to such a landmark as Don Quixote (El Meson de Don Quijote)
6. The pandemic has affected the whole world, and Cuba is no exception! They ask you to wear masks everywhere, even when you move around the city! You will not be able to put food on your own and somehow I saw the bartender's refusal to take an order from a vacationer without a mask! These are the rules! This is neither good nor bad! Just keep in mind.
p.s. Many bars, restaurants and taxi drivers accept dollars on a par with euros. When you are given 6 units, it means that you can give 6 dollars or 6 euros. For example, in the Beatles cafe, $ 4 change was brought for 2 cocktails at 3 units from 10 euros. If you are going to pay in currency, then dollars are more profitable. But I would advise you to competently change euros for pesos and relax in establishments for pesos! It turns out to be several times more profitable.
Probably not everything is so bad! Everything that can be done with your hands is done where new material is needed - alas, there is a shortage all over the island. The hotel has pumped up its service and diversity only because Cubans and Russians rest there, my advice to you is to choose hotels where there are many Canadians and British. That's where the service begins with a champagne river, a piano in the evenings and opera singing, and the tables are full of seafood! We would not like to come back here, as it is not price - quality!
Of course, many Cubans say that it's all because of the pandemic, but at the time of our vacation, friends were vacationing in other hotels, and when we compared our dinners, the answer came by itself! The pandemic has nothing to do with it!
In conclusion, I can say that it is not important where, but most importantly with whom! Get to know each other and create a good company. In the process of a good and fun vacation, the nuances of the service are not visible! Go on vacation in a good mood! And you will be fine!

In any case, do not withdraw the local peso from the card at ATMs. In any case, do not change money at the reception. They count at the official exchange rate of 27 pesos for 1 euro.
Bring cash dollars and euros! Change euros to pesos, pay with dollars where they ask you to.e. Change euros at any market in Varadero - the price is from 85 to 100 pesos for 1 euro! Of course, the waitress will approach you on the first day and offer 55 to one, 60 to 1 at the bar and 70 to 1 lifeguards on the beach! But all this is a bad course!
