Some restaurants truly capture the essence of the local cuisine they represent, embracing regional traditions in every detail.
As someone who’s visited Gaziantep countless times, I came here after reading reviews. In a place as far from Antep as Bodrum, I hoped to find flavors close to the original. I was excited.
But reality fell short. Apart from the salça meze (tomato paste dip) served for tasting, only the minced meat in my wrap reminded me of Antep’s authentic taste. The katmer (flaky sweet pastry) was a major disappointment.
Sadly, serving dishes on copper plates alone isn’t enough—especially when portions are far smaller than what’s traditional for that cuisine.
Dish breakdown:
- Liver sauté: Didn’t like it at all. Not for me.
- ‘Anne patatesi’ (herbed potatoes): Decent.
- Minced meat wrap: Too little meat.
- İçli köfte (stuffed bulgur balls): Mediocre.
- Prices: Extremely high. We paid ~2,000₺ (50$) for just mezes and appetizers. Not a value-for-money spot.
I’ll return to try other dishes, but temper your expectations.
On the upside:
- Staff are attentive and kind.
- Service is lightning-fast.
- Restrooms are clean.
- The garden seating is delightful.
Verdict: Worth a one-time visit for tourists, but Antep natives will leave heartbroken. This place has absorbed Bodrum’s curse of tiny, overpriced portions.
