I didn't get up. Entrance is paid. The greedy one took it. In particular, the suggested queue took away from the idea of visiting. But, standing on the square of the tower, I read about it on the Internet. The effect has been obtained.
I was there both in the afternoon and in the evening. Every time of the day creates, in my opinion, an exciting effect, due to the ancient streets and paved paths entwined around the square.
It's crowded.
Try the San Sebastian dessert. And beware of shoe cleaners. I got one here.

It is beautifully illuminated at night. It smells like history here, yes. The view from the tower is indeed of the whole city, but... I don't know, I don't think it's necessary to climb it.
The entrance fee is 100 liras. Earlier, as I understood, it was cheaper, since there was an option to climb only to the observation deck, but after the reconstruction inside, they made an elevator and put expositions on each flight (not very worthwhile, as for me), in connection with which Galata was designated as a museum, and hence a natural price increase.
It is expensive for an observation deck, boring for a museum.) It makes sense if you have bought an Istanbul ticket, which assumes unlimited access to any museums in the city.
And you can watch the same view from the plane to the city))) 🤷🏻♀️ Well, or look for other locations (they say there is a restaurant and an observation deck on the new TV tower, where there is more space, for example).

The entrance is 175 lira, there is an audio guide in Russian + another 40 lira. There is a modern elevator inside the tower, which pleased me in such a heat, there is no need to climb the steps. Upstairs there is a mock-up of Istanbul with the main attractions, an outdoor area with a wonderful view. Go down the stairs already, on each floor there are different exhibits for familiarization.
