Not far from the Ritsa there is an amazing place - the Blue Lake. The most beautiful place. The lake is surrounded by rocks. With an area of 180 square meters, the largest depth is 76 meters, so it is quite deep. The amazing blue color of the water, for some reason is still unknown even to scientists, there are many versions. The water is very cold, they say that even in very hot weather it does not warm up above 9 degrees. But it doesn't freeze in winter either. The surface of the water is very calm, although there are many undercurrents and a waterfall flows into the lake itself. Nothing and no one alive lives or grows in the lake. The water is not only cold, but also very clean and transparent, although sometimes it seems cloudy, this is an illusion due to the refraction of sunlight and depth. Of course, like all popular tourist destinations, the locals here trade in abundant souvenirs, wine (I do not advise), and offer to take pictures with pheasants. Prices are naturally overpriced. So it's better not to go near this mini market. But I advise you to visit the lake itself, it is stunningly beautiful.
The place is beautiful, the water is icy, but transparent. Then it turns into a waterfall and a mountain river.
Nearby, of course, there are places with pheasants and other 'photo outfits'😀 I read tourist reviews and think about how lucky I was that no one came up to me and spoiled my vacation, the locals just stood lazily and looked at the flow of tourists🤣 We also came as part of the tour). There is a zipline for tourist entertainment.
Nearby, of course, there is a mini market where they sell all sorts of local stuff. I recommend not to buy wines in such places, it is better to go to some local winery where tastings are held and real and delicious wines are poured, the comrades from the tour were very pleased))
A great beautiful place!
You can take a bungee ride
You can take a walk and see
Great beautiful views
But there will be a lot of people there, and a couple of wine drinkers)
Parking problems)
But all these nuances will not overshadow the beauty of nature!
I recommend it!
We were there on the evening of September 3, 2024, returning from Lake Ritsa.
Where the shopping malls wanted to park the car, but a policeman, a corporal in rank, got out of a nearby car, no wonder they are so disliked in the army!!!
I didn't even have time to stop yet, as he got out and asked to leave the car in place, asked for documents, did not introduce himself!!! He started telling me that you can't park here, and so on, about who gave me my license, etc., I said I wanted to park behind your car, he told me that I blocked the road and in general I need to take my license away!!!
I say take it, draw up a protocol, there are no questions!!! His senior officer called him out of the car parked there in front of me, like we're in a hurry, he gave me his license, and said he was in a hurry, and so he would have taken away his license and forced him to rebuild, photographed the documents, rights, STS and gave it back, got in the car and left!!!
That was the situation!!! Do you guys decide if you need tourists for the country's economy or not, is Abkhazia with Russia or not?
If you are with us, then sign parking spots for tourists and stop dividing your own who can do everything on the road into tourists who replenish the country's budget and private traders!!!
Everything is simple, either yes or no!!!
ATTENTION FOR DRIVERS. I strongly advise against stopping along the road. The traffic police, together with the locals, are playing out a whole drama. You stand next to the road, which is narrow and solid (although you absolutely do not interfere with the passage), a man approaches the traffic cops and begins to play loudly in public, indicating that it is impossible to pass. Traffic police come to you and start asking for documents. The funniest thing they say is that your Russian was hindered by a car , and that man was gone . Well, as a result, you are required to pay a fine of 2000 rubles . The lake itself is gorgeous for all 5 stars, if there was an opportunity, I would put it even for the acting and the drama played out.
It's true that it's blue, but here's a lake where it's unlikely that a water source flows into a small pool in which there are certain substances that color the water in this lake, then flows into a full-size river. Trade and various services in this place are three times the size of the lake itself.🤣 Don't go there during the season! Photographers with different poor little animals are attacking. The best time is November.
The stunning beauty of nature, privacy and some subtle energy of its own! We were there with a friend for a photo shoot and eventually returned there several more times just to be alone with nature...I highly recommend it!
The lake is worth watching as early as possible in the morning. At 7-8-9 o'clock; no later.
Then there are no peacocks, and the pictures may well turn out for themselves. The lake itself didn't impress me much, but it's worth stopping by on the way to the Ritz.
The place itself may be beautiful, BUT the toilet is unsanitary! Abkhazians torture animals, peacocks are chained to a stone with an iron ring, this is animal husbandry, it's a pity for animals. And it's a pity for tourists, they are treated boorishly
beauty that cannot be described in words and cannot be conveyed by photos
, I think that every person who goes to Abkhazia should visit this place
from the cons: there are a lot of people, and the lake is only 20 × 30 m. peacocks with which the photo is 100 rubles still occupy space
The lake is of wonderful beauty, but the local people 🤦♀They impose their products very much, and they are also of poor quality and the prices are too high!!! With its poor products from churchkhela to the type of wine , the sediment remains , to put it mildly , not pleasant , I don 't even want to go there for a vacation , even despite such beauty .
A wonderful place, very beautiful, I went with my family individually. We arrived when all Russian tourists were crossing the border. We managed to take beautiful photos, no one.. Nikio did not interfere . A miracle of nature!!!! I recommend it!!!
Very picturesque. A small turquoise lake. In high season, of course, peacocks sit nearby for a paid photo.
There is a mini market nearby - so-so.
Just below there is a bungee, the longest on the river Bzyb. However, this attraction is not worth the money (1000 rubles in August 2022), because the "flight" lasts only 40 seconds. At the same time, the attitude towards the visitor is purely utilitarian, expressed not only in a lack of politeness, but also in the fact that after unbuckling you are strictly told to take the equipment upstairs on your own. This is getting 1000 rubles from the client in 1 minute! For such a price/time ratio, the service should be significantly added.
There are a lot of reviews about local photographers in the comments)) my husband was persuaded to take a picture))) and me at the same time, both in hats and with peacocks, the photos turned out to be funny, we still look and laugh with my husband))) so we didn't regret it) they gave us 1000 rubles , they didn 't ask us for any specific amount )
The lake is beautiful, but nothing special, the locals spoil the experience very much: 1) The inscription reads: "passage to the blue lake" and leads you through the market, and here everyone invites you and speculating on traditions and respect for their people force you to try different goods and buy something, if you want to avoid, then go a little further to the bridge and calmly (but not quite, read paragraph 2) go down to the lake. 2) on the descent to the lake, they blindly put on a papakha and a cape, take pictures and say that they will not rob you, but ask you for 5,000 rubles, under the pretext of allegedly collecting "Khabarovsk" and give a thousand change, referring to the brotherly heart and generosity, they managed to reset to 1000, but the impressions are absolutely spoiled, do not be fooled, Send them far away
Local Abkhazian scammers operate near this lake: a man, a young man and a woman. Their tent stands to the left of the sculpture of an elder with a staff, which is located next to the lake. They sell wine in plastic bottles. They sold us 2 bottles of "red wine" for 500 rubles. As it turned out later (right before buying, we did not try this wine and very wrongly) instead of wine, they slipped us diluted pomegranate juice. We couldn't go back to them in any way, because we were on a bus tour. The transfer of 500 rubles was carried out by the SBP to Tinkoff in the name of Maritsa Mizanovna A. These people reflect, in principle, the whole of Abkhazia, this republic lives by deceiving tourists, we have heard a lot of stories about how locals breed and throw tourists, i.e. this phenomenon is common here. I highly do not recommend Abkhazia as a vacation
The lake is famous and named for its unusually bright water color. Scientists explain its saturated color by the layers of the mineral lapis lazuli located on the bottom and walls of the reservoir. The brightness of the color does not change depending on the time of year and weather conditions.
As described earlier, the passage to the lake through the market, where you are offered to taste wonderful wine and chacha in plastic bottles, you should not do this for sure! Then they put on a "national" hat, a dagger and ask for at least 2 thousand for a photo, and they do it very quickly, while you can't understand anything, the result is unnecessary photos and minus 2 thousand rubles in your pocket, you don't want to swear on vacation with someone, but of course the sediment is unpleasant
It is a very beautiful place, but in the season the impression is greatly spoiled by both tourists and the locals themselves, sometimes overly actively breeding the first for all the money
A small turquoise lake (the mud of the recent cataclysm has managed to settle to the bottom), which is only worth looking at from the bridge. The playground in front of him is small, there are a lot of people in the season, it was 26.07
All beautiful approaches are paid, + animal exploitation. The peacock, as it was 15 years ago, still remains. (Maybe the son of that peacock's father, not the point)
The location is passable, you should not go specifically for sure. It's a queue to take a picture, like in the subway during rush hour :)
The assessment is not for the lake, there are no complaints about it, the nature is beautiful. But these locals spoil the whole impression of the country. They try to cling to every person, just to get something in, put national clothes on you, even though you say you don't need it, take pictures and say put the money down. as a result, the guys were left without money, and I with an unnecessary photo in the market nearby also do not recommend buying anything, everything is immediately clear from the smell of wine and chacha in plastic. It is better to go to an ordinary supermarket in the city and buy high-quality and 2 times cheaper there.

The lake is gorgeous. Unusual. Peacocks. We didn't buy anything from the products, I won't say anything about deceptions, we bought inexpensive magnets for memory. Wine should be bought from trusted sellers, not on the highway. It was a small piece of a big tour - I liked everything
On the descent to the lake, there are two people who impose a photo with a gun and a hat, they also extort money in a rough form, be careful! People like them do everything so that they never want to return to Abkhazia again…
The lake is beautiful, but I strongly do not recommend buying anything at the nearby market. We bought wine there, churchkhela - the wine is terrible, tastes sweetly chemical, and empty like water. Fortress is like compote, kefir is stronger, probably. I drank a liter and not in one eye... Churchkhela is the most terrible of all that exists in Abkhazia. Not even sweet, just nuts in a colored tasteless jelly. The expectation is that you won't come back and bring back a terrible product. Teas are also bad, tasteless sticks when brewed, the cheapest tea from the supermarket is tastier. Anything to make money on tourists...
The lake was not impressed.
Yes, a small beautiful lake, really blue. But there are so many people, trade and bustle around that the charm and charm of this place are lost. I will note more the observation decks overlooking the river, you can make beautiful shots.
It is better to visit on the way back, there will be fewer people and you will get more positive emotions.

The lake itself is excellent. But identical individuals who want to wear their hats, etc. spoil the whole impression. They are rude to everyone, they point out to women that they know their place. As for me, these are the same visitors who want to make money and pretend to be "local". The impression is spoiled to the point of impossible
It did not cause much excitement. A small lake. According to legend, you need to wash your face to get younger.) There are a lot of people. Trade near the lake. Be careful, they cheat. We tried homemade wine and liked it. We bought a bottle. I opened it at home, vinegar, spoiled, from a couple of sips my stomach got sick right away, then I was treated again. I wish the seller of this wine good health!

You can stop by on the way, preferably in the morning (before 9). No one bothers to take pictures, they don't "sell" anything, there aren't many people.
Then it's normal)
