Ilkhom Theater is the heart of creative Tashkent!
I've been here several times, and each performance has left a deep mark. It's not just a theater, it's a place where you really feel the art. The performances are bold, sincere, touching to the core. The actors' acting is at the highest level, everything is real, with emotion, with soul.
I especially like that there is no familiar stage here — it seems to merge with the auditorium. This creates a special bond between the artists and the audience. You're not just watching a play, you're inside what's happening, literally in the same breath as the actors.
The interior is modest, but that's the whole magic — nothing superfluous, just art and atmosphere. Here you want to think, feel, come back again and again.
Great art theater!
I liked everything, starting with the poster at the entrance, the foyer, the paintings and decoration of the hall, the actors and the proximity of the stage.
Amazing and unforgettable two performances with deep meaning that we managed to attend! I'm still impressed. I recommend everyone not to miss this unique theater.
Bravo to the actors and the director!
The Ilkhom Theater in Tashkent is a legendary point on the cultural map not only of Uzbekistan, but also of the entire Central Asia! Founded in 1976 by director Mark Weil, it has become a symbol of creative freedom and experimentation. Here, stereotypes are boldly broken, combining traditions and the avant—garde, and each production is a challenge to the usual perception of the theater.
Why is it worth a visit?
A unique repertoire: From modern drama to reinterpreted classics — performances make you think, laugh, cry. Famous works: "The Imperial Executioner", "The Seagull. Forever", "Don Juan".
Experiment and improvisation: Ilkhom is famous for its author's approach — there are no rigid frameworks here, and the actors often interact with the audience.
Atmosphere: A chamber-like space with an almost homely energy. The hall is small, so every spectator feels like a part of the action.
International recognition: The theater tours the world, participates in festivals, and critics call its productions "a breath of fresh air."
Practical:
- Language: Most of the performances are in Russian, sometimes with elements of Uzbek.
- Prices: Tickets are available (from about 50,000 soums / ~$4).
- Where: Pahlavon Mahmud Street, Tashkent city center.
- Tip: Book your seats in advance — the theater is popular with locals and tourists.
If you appreciate non—standard art, you are ready for a dialogue with actors and directors - Ilkh is a must! This is not just a theater, but a living organism where magic is born. After the performance, you can discuss your impressions in the cozy cafe at the theater — the perfect ending to the evening. 👌

The legendary Tashkent Theater. Great productions.
one of the first professional non-state theaters in the history of the former Soviet Union. It was founded in 1976 by director Mark Weil and a group of graduates of the Tashkent Theater and Art Institute.
I recommend it! Only for adults. The number of seats is limited. Cozy and homey. Excellent artists and productions.
A chic, powerful, modern theater without mothballs. Beautiful and spacious building. I was at the play "Tomorrow": the drama may not be the most outstanding, but it was staged with youthful enthusiasm. The dynamics, light, and sound were very pleasing. A pleasant aftertaste, the audience with bright faces. There's even a plywood ballet in Tashkent, and this is a very special place.
A cozy atmosphere, a feeling of complete immersion in what is happening on stage. The acting is lively, sincere, and very touching. There is nothing superfluous here — only talent, emotions and real art. A great place for those who appreciate deep performances and close contact with the theater. We will definitely come again!
I liked the theater. Small, intimate. The lobby, the hall-as if "for their own". Yes, judging by the large companies sitting at the buffet tables, this is true. The theater has its own regular audience.. super! The play "Lubka" made an ambiguous impression. Well played. The actors played 100%. You should definitely visit the theater. The performance is controversial, but the impressions are definitely positive!
This theater has been around for many years, but it still remains the warmest, most soulful, and amazing for me! Words cannot convey the liveliness and uniqueness of the actors' performance and the atmosphere of the theater itself. Not a single production leaves anyone indifferent. With each visit, I want to return there again and again.
Wonderful modern theater! Anyone who wants to understand Tashkent better should definitely watch the play "Happy Beggars". Excellent acting, dialogues, topical humor, songs, sound - this is how real art should be.
The Ilham Theater is located on Pakhtakorskaya Street in Tashkent, it was not possible to go to the performance, but we passed by every day, as we stayed at a nearby hotel. If I am in Tashkent, I will definitely try to visit. The theater is very conveniently located, within walking distance of the literary museum, and a little further away is the Uzbek Conservatory, which was visited by the anniversary concert of the State Uzbek Orchestra.
Theater is a decorated love. Unique productions. Its own subtle atmosphere, sensitive humor, and the actors' acting at a higher level. The one and only theater. The landmark of Tashkent.
It's very modern, very bold, the acting is wonderful, the productions are peculiar, of course, but deep, with meaning, I think, and it's nice. The prices for such a theater are very affordable.
An atmospheric place, the theater building itself is colorful outside and inside, like a museum of modern art. But the performance of "Daly's Dance" was incredibly difficult for my perception, I struggled with sleep with all my might)
We love this theater! Modern art, cool actors and unusual productions.
We've been there more than once and it's always been interesting, especially when the actors interact with the audience!
Well, it's not a theater, it's a fairy tale! the atmosphere is cozy, you don't watch the play, but practically participate in it. Interactive! The performances are well staged and look good every time, just like the first time!
Once again, I went to the play, the topics that are touched upon are very relevant and democratic, they touch my soul, even tears come to my eyes, but the young actors had the feeling that there was no understanding of what they were playing, there was no deep understanding and sincerity, unfortunately it was obvious, there is room for growth. However, there are no questions about the plot, text and direction. Bravo, bravo, and bravo again, I'll take another look.
Visiting this institution as a separate kind of pleasure and masochism. The productions are brilliant, not always clear (to me), but in the process of understanding they are incredible. The repertoire, despite the age of some works, is very relevant. After the fire, the atmosphere is a little gloomy, of course, but it's still cozy.
My favorite theater, which has a lot to do with it. Thanks to the actors who continue to work and give us wonderful hours and minutes of life. I love Ilkhom for its unique atmosphere!
I don't think this place needs any recommendations. Great guys and amazing performances, chamber atmosphere. I can recommend watching every performance.
The best theater in the world, I love it very much. They have been holding the brand for 30 years, despite fires, the death of the founder and financial difficulties. Be sure to visit the Tortilla Flat and Happy Beggars Quarter, productions have been going on for a quarter of a century without losing their relevance.
We were guests in the city, for a better understanding of the modern culture of the country, we decided to go to the theater for a youth production. We were completely delighted. The topics are relevant and many of them are specific to Uzbekistan. Some of the topics are borderline, which can be discussed, but very politely and carefully, such as religion, politics, family difficulties, etc., but the actors have this line very finely adjusted, the audience is involved in the discussion, which adds vivacity to the performance. The performance turned out to be very sincere, intimate, sentimental, sincere, thoughtful and left behind very warm impressions. I recommend it and would love to come again
The theater is not big. It was the first time. MY SON. I really liked it. The acting is just wonderful. I will definitely go to another production again.
5 stars unambiguously and without options. The best of the theaters that I have seen in Tashkent. The acting, interior and exterior, light, sound are all excellent!
The chic theater is "not for everyone." There is a peculiar atmosphere here, the performances are wonderful, the artists are from God!
Having been here at least once, you will want to come again!
Excellent! The atmosphere is lamp-cozy! The interior is great! The immersion in the action on stage is complete! Interactive! We went to see Moliere's comedy Tortuffe. In the modern interpretation of bravissimo! My unequivocal recommendation!
A very unusual theater with its own atmosphere, there is no such thing in Tashkent anymore. Each performance is unique, the actors' acting is emotional, impressive and exciting. The performances are non-standard and heartfelt!
It's great that there's at least one theater in the city that puts on modern productions, I've been there 3 times already and I liked it. The only disadvantage is that they don't let you into the so-called "underground" passage in front of the hall. After all, you really want to take characteristic photos, and the lobby is extremely boring for this.
I was at the Electrooco concert in Ilkhom, and I was impressed by the performance. I liked the gallery in the theater lobby and the chamber atmosphere of the hall.
In my opinion, the best theater in Tashkent. There are very strong productions in the repertoire, there is always an aftertaste after the performance, there is something to think about.
Today we attended the production of "White White black Stork". Just a delight! 1 hour and 45 minutes passed just in one go! Mark Weil was a brilliant director! The acting is amazing! I advise you to visit!
I love this theater 🥰🥰🥰
The actors are just 💥🌟👍💣
And the repertoire is mmmmmmmmm
Rain outside the wall, a dog's heart
I always want to get to the Airport, but it happens soooo rarely (
You've done well.
I really liked everything!!!
The hotel is in a good location.
The hotel staff are friendly, polite, and take part in everything. Just well done!!! I will definitely recommend your hotel to my friends.
The best theater in Tashkent has been around for 30 years
He alone pulls up the rest of the culture of Uzbekistan, next to the Navoi Theater and the Youth Theater
The only thing is that everything is unkempt, dirty, no one is watching the surroundings, the Shodlik hotel, in the building of which the theater itself is located, is either under demolition or under reconstruction, it is unclear, maybe because of this?
One of the best theaters in Tashkent. The plays are not ordinary, the authors have their own vision, a breath of fresh air among the "jingoistic" and purely traditional theaters!
The best theater in Uzbekistan
And one of the best theaters in Central Asia
Social agenda, deep acting, chamber theater for a thoughtful and caring audience
Reinterpreted classics
Tartuffe, a free novel - must-see
A stunningly culturally filled place! There is an art gallery in the hall, which makes waiting for the performance an even more pleasant event. A cafe where you can drink coffee with dessert, the staff is very pleasant, they speak English and Russian. Well, the corridor to the auditorium is generally like a separate art object! We were at the play "Black Black White Stork". This is a delight, although we are a spoiled spectator)))). If we are going to Tashkent again, we will definitely visit this cultural mecca!
An interesting creative theater, located in the city center, a 10-minute walk from the metro. There is a place for public parking.
There is a buffet.
Exhibitions of paintings or cultural evenings are held periodically in the lobby.
Entrance tickets range from $ 8 to $16, which is several times higher than average prices. There are discounts for certain categories.
Wonderful!!! The performance of the artists is at the highest level! You completely get distracted from everyday life and immerse yourself in the performance!! I advise everyone.
A gorgeous place in Tashkent, with performances at the highest level in all of Central Asia. The cast is a bomb, and there are no better ones anywhere.
The most advanced and unusual theater in Tashkent! Many performances are extraordinary, you can think in your own way, that's the beauty of Ilkhom! There are always incredible exhibitions with deep meaning! The architecture of the theater itself is amazing! This theater is not suitable for everyone! But I love him!!! ❤️❤️❤️
For my taste, the theater is greatly overrated. Now he's more based on his former glory than on anything interesting.
The actors really know how to act, there are no questions, but they are forced to make faces, as I understand it, in the spirit of modern trends, showing exaggerated, pretentious emotions.
