Wars were being torn down, the Bolsheviks were rebuilding, but all the same, the integrity of the ensemble was preserved by the professional residents of Grodno. It is a very integral architectural monument. And the throne room, ceilings, and layout of the palace have been preserved inside. The palace is a large casket, a national treasure of Grodno and, in general, the Republic of Belarus. Two in one, as an art and historical museum is currently located here. An amazing picture of Rogneda, the ancestor of our Gorislavich Family.
Please also pay attention to the paintings by Malevich and Goncharova. How did they not get taken to Moscow in Soviet times? One can only wonder! Real diamonds from any museum! It's great that they are now decorating Grodno!!
Thanks to all the curators and employees of this museum, who faithfully preserve the Culture of our common country for us and the next generations of Russian Belarusians: Belarusians, Ukrainians and Russians. They keep these riches for our children and grandchildren. Low bow!!
The new castle impresses with its impressive appearance! You understand that the area was not chosen for him by chance — such a strategic location is amazing. 🌄
Although the exposition at the exhibition is quite standard and resembles other castle exhibitions, it still deserves attention. Considering the price tag of the ticket, I would definitely recommend visiting it. This is a great opportunity to immerse yourself in history and enjoy the majestic views!
A wonderful place, a fascinating old castle. From the observation deck, the views are breathtaking. Fascinating excursions.
I recommend a French-style summer cafe vb.cafe on the territory of the new castle.
We arrived in Grodno for a day, on September 25, 2024
Because there was very little time, there was a choice between the old castle and the new one, but the description of the new palace interested us more.
There are a number of interesting works about chivalry.
But the most impressive thing was the conversation between two employees of the museum, who were not embarrassed by the visitors (about ten people, including us).
On the floor, passing further into the Soviet era, two employees in literate Russian loudly debated on the topic of describing objects and paintings on it. And one of them tried to explain to the second that this was a competent step. The other one denied everything (in Russian, please note) and said that the Russians had gone to them, and as soon as the restrictions were lifted, they would forget their land. And whatever her will, everything in the museum would be only in the Belarusian language. I clearly remember the phrase: "When a Belarusian comes up to me and asks why there is no Russian in the description of the paintings, I tell him that we have 2 official languages in our country and he must know his native language. And if a Russian approaches me, I send him to Paris, to the Louvre, to dictate my terms there." Actually, starting at 12 o'clock and until the end of the day, we just waited for the train to go on. Everything in the city, after their dialogue, caused only 2 associations - Unreasonably expensive, unfriendly. The mood was saved only by a cool uncle who played outside and sang. In everything close to my heart, I have been almost everywhere, and everything responds to my heart, except Grodno. And I really don't want to do it a second time.
If we ignore the situation, there are more impressive places in the city than this museum. The time spent is not worth it.
The museum is located in the city center and is located next to the Old Castle. The territory of the museum and the expositions themselves are mandatory for everyone who has come to this wonderful city. But there is one thing - please ask the museum administration to add the Russian language to the description of all objects!!! After all, there are a lot of tourists from Russia and it is more convenient to perceive information in Russian too.
It's a beautiful place , the view is also beautiful from there
Grodno is a very beautiful city in itself , the main thing is that it will be successfully settled in the historical center , and everything will be within walking distance
Beautifully restored, I really liked it. I advise you to visit, there is something to admire, you will spend more than an hour. You can take cool photos and buy souvenirs.
Interesting. There are many expositions. The ticket price is 7 rubles. It's better to take an audio guide. I was amazed that there is an original painting by Levitan, and many other famous artists.
But I liked the Old Castle better.
Awesome castle. A large museum of local lore. We took audio guides. We went around every hall and listened to every exhibit. I would add the halls of the king's household. Perhaps he would have restored the decoration. Like it. I recommend it to everyone.
Thank you very much for the gorgeous expositions, the caretakers are very friendly, and not only the caretakers, the cashier, the guards, all the employees of the castle. Thank you very much
I liked everything very much
Well done, we made a good museum, a little bit about everything)) History, culture, archeology, even a little bit of geology. From the Stone Age to the present. It is absolutely necessary to visit.
It is a pity that only the proletariat remains of the past. There's a lot of interesting stuff inside, but it's a mess, from dinosaurs to the Great Patriotic War and the zoological room. Only one room is dedicated to the real history of the castle. but you need to visit to understand how our land was shaken by the different hands of the powerful....
The castle building is interesting.
It is located in the center at the hub of historical sites.
But...
the exposition is built according to yesterday's standards. It is not interesting in terms of sequence.
Some exhibits contradict the historical sequence by dates - it seems that there are different authors of the exposition in each hall.
The halls of the animal world and Animals of Belarus are well represented.
But....
If there is an audio guide system when buying a ticket, the staff does not offer to use an additional service, the institution loses obvious profit.
Team tours are not organized.
When buying tickets, payment by phone does not work, only a physical card.
There are few souvenirs.
There is no sale of water and coffee
I will go a second time if there are these innovations))) 9
Every last Tuesday of the month, visiting the museum is free (a very good initiative). Having visited the museum of the Old and New Castle, I can say. I liked the Old Castle better. But that's just my opinion. The new castle is interesting in its own way. I liked the rooms with exhibits of animals. In general, you can safely go on excursions!!!
A great place to relax. Very picturesque. Picturesque views of the Neman River and the city will be visible from the height. You can visit regular exhibitions. At noon, a trumpeter plays on the tower. I advise you to visit
I don't really walk on my own. It is better to take a guided tour. There will be a thunderstorm until it is more interesting to get acquainted with the history of this castle. A lot of guns. Which was also interesting.
The exposition is quite chaotic, between the halls with antique weapons there suddenly turns out to be a hall with stuffed animals. The exhibits are very poorly signed, only in the Belarusian language. Given the number of Russian tourists, the lack of duplication in Russian is surprising, to be honest. There are some rude people among the staff, personally, one caretaker began to literally kick me out of the hall in a very rude tone just because I stopped for a couple of minutes to answer (silently!) to a text message on your phone. Allegedly, the fact that I was standing still was disturbing other visitors. That is, it is boring, and also the boorish attitude of the staff, I do not recommend visiting.
The inscriptions to the exhibits are in Belarusian and English. Only in the hall dedicated to the Second World War there are inscriptions in Russian. The collections are interesting, but nothing is clear to non-specialists.
We were very unpleasantly surprised that the castle is still under renovation and the synagogue also did not work due to restoration..
Of course, the city is very different from all other cities in Belarus.
But like in all others , people feel tired and discouraged ...
Interesting exhibits from different eras.
It was interesting to see, the entrance price is very democratic. The museum is quite large. It's worth going, you won't regret it.
We took off our clothes in the wardrobe, froze to climb there) and so the vinaigrette museum, stuffed polar bears are interspersed with historical exhibits. An ambiguous impression
A good museum, many halls with different expositions. Paintings, objects from excavations, the history of Grodno. Many thanks to Julia's guide.
There is a small souvenir shop.
Visiting the Old and New castles is a mandatory part of the program of acquaintance with the city of Grodno. I liked the old castle, which I wrote about in the review. But I liked the New Castle even more. This is a great journey into the world of history, art, and nature of Belarus. The most magnificent expositions and specimens in the collection of the museum. Interesting, beautiful, informative!
The architecture is classical, the building is large, the view from the slope is gorgeous, a 120-year-old oak tree grows in the courtyard. There is a historical and archaeological museum inside. The report is finished)
Interesting expositions, competent guides, detailed and detailed excursions.
You can buy books on the history of the Grodno region, souvenirs.
Thanks to the staff, at our request, we conducted a memorable tour.
It is also a beautiful castle, the first part of the castle is still interesting. Historical and important things have been preserved, and it is also signed what is behind the glass. The second part of the castle is also quite interesting, but it is no longer connected with history. I recommend you to visit.
Very beautiful! In general, the city is wonderful, clean, beautiful, the buildings are European. Lots of greenery. There is a zoo near the train station. It is also very convenient, while waiting for the train, you can go see the animals.
It looks impressive from the outside, but unfortunately it's new inside. There is a lot of interactive media. A wonderful observation deck. For people interested in history, it can definitely be recommended to visit.
The museum was visited on 02/21/2024 with a child of 7 years old. We spent more than 2 hours in the museum. The museum presents expositions from different eras. The museum was liked not only by an adult, but also by a child. Unlike the Old Castle, there is something to see.
This is a museum with exhibits under glass. Mostly medieval weapons. Collections of confiscated art objects (icons, household items, paintings). I advise you to take a guided tour.
The new castle - in my initial understanding, it was supposed to be a castle. But as a result, this is a large museum, in which everything is collected in different halls: paintings, animal mummies, everyday life of different times, etc. There are a lot of interesting things to see
The grounds and the house itself are very pleasant. But the museum itself ... left the impression that they collected everything they found ... even a room like with animals is there. It is located opposite the old castle.
Very friendly and pleasant staff, ALL OF THEM! The price is just pennies, a few rubles. Only a good impression! The new castle has different halls, it will be great for children, how to look at animals, paintings, centuries BC, plants, etc., and at the hall of memory of Afghanistan, the war.
I've been to such an incredible place! The new castle just captured my imagination. I wandered through its halls and corridors, trying not to miss a single detail, and was more and more amazed by its beauty and grandeur. It was a real journey into a fairy tale!
It is a very pleasant, atmospheric place, I liked that you can use an audio guide in each hall

The staff is polite. There is something to see on 2 floors. We went with our family and children aged 5 and 8, the children were not tired. We looked at everything within 1 hour. I was impressed by the icon of the Trinity, antique furniture, costumes, dishes, watches, dried marine fauna
A very extensive and diverse collection of exhibits. Young people of any age - from the pioneer to the retired - will certainly be interested in the rich collection of weapons, armor and military uniforms of all peoples and times - from the Battle of Grunwald to the Afghan war. Beautiful ladies will be able to admire beautiful vases, statuettes, interior items and antique furniture. There are many paintings by different authors and old photographs, and there is also a collection of icons. There are expositions dedicated to wildlife - with stuffed animals and birds. And of course, there is a beautiful view of the Neman, the Old Castle and the Kalozhskaya Church. In general, everyone will find something interesting for themselves.
