The navigator took us to a completely different place, we didn't even know about this monument. And suddenly they saw him. Of course, we stopped right away to inspect it.
It should be noted that there are very few sculptures of horsemen in Belarus, so the monument to Vseslav the Magician interested us very much.
The prince's activity is of great historical importance.
The sculpture is very good, realistic.
We do not know why it is installed in this particular place in Polotsk - there is probably a reason for that. But perhaps she would have looked better in another place and the approach to her would have been better.
Meanwhile, we have returned home and are going to carefully study the information about Prince Vseslav.
Monument to Prince Vseslav Bryacheslavovich of Polotsk and Grand Duke of Kiev. It is mentioned in the Word about Igor's regiment: "Prince Vseslav the Mighty of Polotsk
He cast lots, looking into the future..The monument itself is beautiful and expressive.
The monument is just a cannon, it's gorgeous. All my life I dreamed of such a monument as this. Just wah wah wah This monument is the best thing that happened to me.
Monument in the glorious city of Polotsk at the intersection of Euphrosyne of Polotsk and Oktyabrskaya streets to the most famous ruler in Polotsk history ["... the hero of the "Words of Igor's Regiment" and East Slavic folklore, where he appears as a hero and a magician capable of turning into a beast"] – Vseslav Bryachislavich ((Vseslav the Magician)) ["Prince Vseslav sits proudly on a horse, symbolizing power and strength.
In his appearance, one can feel the courage of a warrior and the inexhaustible wisdom of a politician. At the foot of the monument, a capsule with a will to descendants is immured."]
And the final chord also went down in history by the fact that he reigned in Polotsk for 57 years...
It was a necessary monument for our city and everything was well planned. But the execution leaves much to be desired. Instead of cafes, souvenirs, etc., joys for residents and guests of the city, a photocopier, a tile salon and funeral services work nearby. Simple and in the subject
one of the most beautiful monuments in Polotsk, considering that it has been standing since 2007, it is very cool! The idea is super with a wolf and an eagle. If you haven't seen it, be sure to visit!
The sculpture has become a landmark in Polotsk. If earlier the landmark was a pub, now they say "at the horse". It really fits seamlessly into the architecture of the city, and is executed at a fairly high level.
Near the monument to Vseslav the Magician, there was a small cafe in the "Polotsk hotel". My granddaughter and I often went there and walked around the monument after the cafe. We took a lot of photos. We specially read the legend of the Magician. And now there are no cafes, drinks and ice cream in the store behind the busy road. It became uninteresting.
I think it would be better if some beautiful tree were planted in place of this sculpture. Oak, for example. In summer, you could sit in the shade under it. And so sculpture as sculpture is just a piece of bronze or whatever it is made of.
Monument to Vseslav Charadey. About whom legends were written. It is interesting to get acquainted with those who have not heard about it. The playground is in the open sun, there is not much hiding in the shade.
A beautiful monument in a beautiful place in a beautiful city, in a beautiful country, and also very detailed. And in general, this city is full of similar places, for example: the monument to E. Polotskaya.
The sculpture is gorgeous!! But the place chosen is the most terrible!! There is not a single parking lot around. Parking in the courtyard of a small family, probably only the residents know about it. Guests of the city will have to travel a long way to admire this sculpture.
The Prince of Polotsk reigned in the 11th century, and for a very long time - 57 years. The great-grandson of Vladimir the Saint (in fact, not very much) and Princess Rogneda. He enjoyed fame and respect among the people for his intelligence so much that he was credited with the ability of magic. The chronicle "The Tale of Bygone Years" also writes about this.
The monument itself is made with dignity, but it is installed surrounded by shops.
I think that the place for a monument to one of the most outstanding Belarusian ancestors should be in a more pleasant place: a park, a pedestrian square, etc., where people could gather (for example, like the monument to Vytautas in Vilnius)
The monument looks good, but this intersection is not the best place for it. A shopping mall and a high-rise building in the background do not add greatness to the Magician.
