The Archaeological Park of Paphos is an open—air archaeological museum in the city of Paphos, near the harbor of Kato Paphos. 1
The main objects of the park are the excavations of the ancient city of Nea Paphos. It is known for a large complex of well-preserved mosaics from the Roman period, discovered in the 1960s. In the southern part of the park are the ruins of the medieval fortress of Saranta-Kolones. There are also ruins of other structures of the II century A.D. on the territory of the park — the agora, the odeon and the temple of Asclepius. 1
In 1980, the park was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. 2
A very beautiful archaeological park, which you must definitely visit, wander around, and consider everything. I liked it, although it was certainly difficult to walk in the heat
This is a world-class park, the historical heritage of Cyprus. There are always a lot of visitors here, there is something to see. It is always interesting to join the world culture, to feel like a part of it.
A great place, the application in Russian as an audio guide is above all praise. Greece does not even provide English (( Cyprus was pleasantly surprised with its attitude to history.
Pathos!!! This city was the capital of Cyprus!
There is a lot to see and learn for lovers of history, which is closely intertwined with mythology here.
Unique mosaics of the Roman period have been preserved in the park.
The park is located on a large area, you will have to walk a lot.
Therefore, plan an excursion in the morning or later in the evening.
I was in such a place for the first time, thanks to my beloved son-in-law Dmitry, as in a fairy tale and mosaics and columns, temples, or rather what is left, a lighthouse. We saw a fantastic sunset. I am very glad that I saw everything for myself
An open-air place to take a walk. A couple of times at most. Go look at the mosaic indoors. People used to be able to live beautifully! Now these are historical values. The lighthouse has a beautiful view. But it is even better to walk along the embankment.
We explored the surroundings and sights of Paphos as independent (semi-independent)wild tourists on bicycles. It so happened that the archaeological park of Kato Paphos was bypassed along the perimeter both from the sea (by the way, driving on stones along a wire fence is a below average pleasure) and from the city (this segment of the way is much more pleasant, and the ruins are better visible). We also visited the park and joined the historical and cultural heritage of Cyprus. We were impressed by the villa of Dionysus, antique floor mosaics, and the remains of an amphitheater. But at the same time, it is worth recognizing that moving from one object to another was quite tedious, and the obvious cognitive value of the excursion in the fight against the sweltering heat was losing. Those who come to the park for the opening will benefit, because even before closing, the heat at the end of summer did not subside much
A stunning historical park by the sea! The beauty of nature and historical sites is very impressive. The mosaic canvases are simply mesmerizing! An amazing walk through the park will definitely not leave anyone indifferent.
Amazing mosaics!... A wonderful lighthouse built in 1888. We enjoyed our visit very much. All inscriptions are in English and Greek. You must have a hat or an umbrella from the sun and water with you. And it's even better to drive out of season. In April, for example, poppies bloom there and in general the greens are still fresh and not burnt out. I advise you to come to the opening in the morning.
A large excavation area, remains of ancient buildings, mosaics. In addition to the official hiking trails, you can find places untouched by archaeologists.
