A large newly renovated fortress with gorgeous views and beautiful interior decoration. There are shadow zones. The size of the fortress is amazing. Well preserved!
Despite the fact that many people spit on the new model, I think that the place is wonderful. Convenient, beautiful, and, by the way, delicious (in the restaurant in the complex)
A beautiful and interesting fortress, divided into two parts, upper and lower. A stone wall is installed between the upper and lower parts. Entering through the gates of the Upper Fortress, you can walk through a narrow corridor to a small garden, where a Christian church with a bell tower rises from the north side. A gazebo with a fountain, a Moorish-style covered gallery, the Ahmadiyeh Mosque and the Samtskhe-Javakheti Museum attract attention.
The citadel is the highest point of the fortress and Akhaltsikhe, it opens up a view of the city and the surrounding area, and it is definitely worth climbing it.
Admission cost 18 lari for foreign citizens
I recommend you to visit
Restored fortress. The view of the fortress during its heyday has been recreated. There are many cafes nearby. A great place for walking and atmospheric photos
They did a great job. They have recreated antiquity without a shadow of a doubt. It's impressive.. Yes, a new model, but it was done very culturally and pleasantly. We enjoyed spending a few hours.
A place of worship, with a very powerful energy. I recommend it to absolutely everyone. There are no less fantastic views around the fortress. There are a lot of delicious cafes around the perimeter.
It seems that you get into several epochs and countries at once. And antiquity, and the chivalrous Middle Ages, and the Muslim period. It was very interesting to visit, the place is beautiful, and the restoration was also seriously invested.
Completely redesigned. The historical value is close to zero. In the old photos and drawings, there seemed to be fewer structures - they made a tourist site with a hotel and shopping areas that are idle and abandoned. Perhaps for a reason. The price tag for tourists is 15lari (wild) - it does not correspond at all to what it saw. For the locals - 7lari: I wonder if the locals really go there!? You can drive to Vardzia without stopping - it's really interesting there
18 GEL per person for a dubious new model!
But you can walk around the bottom for free.
The only plus is that in good weather, the snow-capped mountains of Armenia can be seen from the very top of the fortress
The fortress must be visited for at least 3 hours. It is huge and beautiful, in Arabic style, with a green area, swimming pools, places where you can eat and drink while enjoying the beautiful views.
It is a very beautiful and interesting place. There's a lot to see.
The impression was spoiled by Nani's guide. He speaks Russian poorly. He tells very little and is not interesting. Take an audio guide instead.
A unique place, steeped in the history of different times and peoples. Persians, Turks, and of course Georgians put their hands here.
This is a fortress city, where it was possible to hide from the invasion of the enemy, and all conditions were created for recreation and pastime!!!
It 's beautifully interesting and cool .
I advise everyone , they took a lot of beautiful photos.
There is a great museum there, but it is paid and the entrance is also paid
A new model, but clean, neat. as almost everywhere, the entrance to the fortress is paid. you don't have time to come up yet, almost every Georgian escorts you by the hand to the cash register, but no one says that if you don't want to go up to the fortress, but just walk around the courtyard, then it's FREE.
A must-visit! A beautiful castle, well-maintained, they say that it was restored by decree of Saakashvili...It's definitely enough to walk for an hour! There is a fountain with water on site to drink...color and greenery!

We stopped on the way along the Trans-Hajar highway. In general, if you happen to be nearby, then it's definitely worth stopping by. We did not buy entrance tickets, but the free territory is very beautiful! There is a place to walk and something to see. You can walk along the walls, climb the watchtowers. I recommend. The free part is for 40 minutes.
It's a very beautiful place, but you need it so that you can catch both daylight and evening illumination, the place is straight from the history, I recommend you to look.
The view is great. A good repair of the fortress was made, as a result, it lost its historical value by 90%. Now it looks like the scenery for Disneyland. That is, the old Orthodox church was not affected so much
This monument did not make a large-scale impression. He is recovering well, but there is still a lot of work. You can see where the old stone is, and where the new one is, the building material does not age much.
To understand the scale of life at that time, the monument is good
A huge fortress, you will erase your feet until you pass all the corners. Cafes and hotels are available. As well as beautiful views. Large parking lots.
An unusual fortress. It looks brutal from a distance, but when you get inside the territory, you feel two things: disappointment and admiration. Disappointment because of the imposed gloss, admiration for the kind of work done. But as a result, I highly recommend it!
The entrance is 18 lari, the interior is very beautiful, even in winter. An excellent restoration has been carried out, nothing falls off anywhere, does not fall apart, everything is as new, but with a touch of antiquity.
When I was little (70s), I climbed Rabat with my friends and the feeling of the presence of Christ never left. This feeling still remains. Maybe because Jews lived there?
