Literally a few hundred steps from Freedom Square, in an inconspicuous place, in the basement there is a very good cafe for locals. Yes, it's not bad, it's good. It looks like a small room, with obvious flavors of the kitchen, but we went so far that we were there twice a week.
The order and payment are made at the checkout. There is a waiter, but he only brings the order and clears the tables. Local men were sitting at the next table from us and drinking white wine. They were talking long, beautiful, but incomprehensible toasts. It was loud, but very interesting.
What we ordered:
1. Kharcho. I really love this spicy, rich Caucasian soup. Well… I have never tasted such a delicious meal.
2. Chikhirtma. Oh my god You can sell your soul for this soup. Maybe it tastes better somewhere – but this is my TOP.
3. Kuchmachi. The offal wasn't bad. But I compared it with the Khinkali House. So there they were fried, but here they were probably closer to stewed. Delicious, but no more.
4. Eggplant rolls. Good. We ordered it twice.
5. Khinkali. With a thin dough and juicy filling. There's nothing more to say. Delicious!!!
6. Shkmeruli. Because of this chicken, we returned for the second time. Well-fried chicken in a delicious sour cream and garlic sauce, in which it is very good to dip magnificent, fresh tortillas.
7. Homemade wine (white). To be honest, it was the best homemade wine on our trip.
Well, what can I say – this place is a must-visit.
We read a lot of laudatory reviews and on the first day of our trip to Tbilisi we went to have lunch at this cafe. I was immediately surprised that we were the only visitors. Everyone wrote that there were no places, you couldn't get in, but everything was empty here. We thought it was Monday, November, okay, since we came, we'll try. We took chicken chikhirtma soup, I don't know what it should be, we liked it, eggplant with nuts are ordinary, but they didn't eat khinkali, the minced meat is sour, strongly peppered and, as it seemed to me, not fresh. The prices are yes, budget, khinkali 1.5 per piece, eggplant 10 lari, soup 15 lari. I hope my feedback will be useful.
A great and inexpensive place in Tbilisi
Real, homemade Georgian cuisine, at reasonable prices, we came here three times, everything is great!
I put a solid 5
Excellent homemade food without a bias towards "commerce and tourists". CASH PAYMENT.
We tried khinkali, chicken and pork kebab, vegetable salad, draft beer.
Everything is at the restaurant level, but without pathos and cheaper at times)
For 2 people - 1.5 rubles.
I decided to check the conflicting reviews, suddenly, it's just that people who are very demanding of the service are dissatisfied with something, but in fact the place is great?
Alas, everything is very wrong here..
The order included saperavi (but rather something sweeter and more vigorous), ajepsandali (fast and not bad) and shish kebab.. that's where the main puncture was - we were literally sitting at the first table from the cash register/kitchen, and there had been no barbecue for 40 minutes. When I approached the staff, the first thing I heard was "you didn't order a barbecue." Then the woman looked at the recordings, saw that he was there and said OK, wait another 20 minutes. The meat was brought, but it was not a barbecue, but a rather dry frying pan.
In general, the place is authentic in its own way. For the sake of experiment, you can go in
Racha is a restaurant that my family and I visit every year when we come to Tbilisi. The atmosphere of the real old Tbilisi reigns here, and the comfort and warmth of the institution make our visits special.
We pay special attention to local cuisine in this institution. Khinkali with cheese is a dish that I order every time, and it is always delicious. Dough, filling, spices – everything is balanced and cooked with love.
The Racha restaurant also offers a wide range of wines. We prefer local Georgian wines, and they always have a wonderful taste.
I was looking for a place to eat in the evening, I came across it by accident. Before that, there were establishments with fairly high prices and the same dishes. I saw both doma and pali and other dishes here. I don't remember the name like that. Cutlet with pomegranate seeds. Very tasty dogwood morse. I'm going to have breakfast there now
Racha has an ideal price-quality ratio. It's pretty cozy. In general, I adore stylized antique restaurants. Well, this is old Tbilisi, it's just a thrill. There is absolutely no smell of cuisine in the hall and even a barbecue is fried right in the hall, but you will not hear, but absolutely what is happening? It's really cool. And what's more important is a gorgeous wine at a simply gorgeous price. You don't need to go somewhere to the market or look for wine in the private sector, you can go in and buy it. I took home a gorgeous five-liter bottle, I am very pleased, thank you.
I'll give you an A for the atmosphere!
It is a very peculiar place, mostly Georgians sit. Order at the checkout, count on the accounts 😍
The prices are low, the food is ordinary.
Georgian salad 12 lari
Lula kebab 15 lari
Wine 8 lari/liter
Delicious and inexpensive, good khinkali with cheese and mushrooms, cooked especially for us, brought hot. The only thing they missed was, they ordered pork legs with garlic, they thought there would be something like a shank, but they brought pork almost hooves (the lowest part of the leg, where there is no meat, only cartilage and skin), also for 12 lari. it would be better to take a barbecue for 15. But there are also advantages: they did not have to wait for them, they are brought immediately and cold :)
A very cozy cafe with Georgian cuisine! The prices are reasonable, the service is good, fast. The portions are large and very tasty, and the lemonade is just a bomb. Recommend 👍
A great, authentic place with local cuisine. It is located on the outskirts of the bar streets, but at the same time, due to its location (in the basement), you may not know about it while inside, enjoying the local old flavor. The portions are confident, the prices are among the best in the city.
It's incredibly delicious, we fell in love with this place right away. Best prices, excellent service. It's very atmospheric. We lived nearby, so we ate here every day. I give 10 stars out of 5))
I recommend it!
It's just awful. Almost all the dishes came cold, absolutely not tasty. I do not recommend it, choose another restaurant. (Even if you choose to go here, don't take husbands, for your health.
Khinkali with too small minced meat, as if it were some kind of children's food. They do not understand that the flatbread should be served with the soup, and not after — but here, in general, they do not know how to serve.
A very friendly cafe. We went there on the advice of friends and did not regret it. Indeed, mushroom khinkali are very tasty khinkali. And how satisfying! We ate enough and were ready to drink tea for a long time in a calm and cozy atmosphere.
The first place I visited in Tbilisi. What can I say, khinkali as khinkali =1.5lar/piece , minimum order from 5 pcs, wine from 0.5 liters = 7lars, the waiters are unfriendly. I did not understand at first that the lack of orientation towards individual travelers and the lack of smiling service is the norm in Tbilisi. And then I realized. So if you, like me, have read / seen enough about the innate Georgian hospitality, and incredibly delicious cuisine, then this is a bit wrong) I will not go here a second time, and I hope I will not come to Tbilisi

One of the best such places in Tbilisi! Very affordable prices, pleasant staff, delicious food and killer homemade chacha for almost nothing.
Acceptable, but better not. Shkmeruli is just terrible, but it cost 30 GEL. It was as if salt had been spilled on him. The snack is acceptable. Overall a disappointment.
I came across a recommendation of an institution somewhere on the Internet. We were not far away and decided to stop by. We were greeted very well and cordially. The order was accepted quickly and we didn't wait long for the dish. When we arrived, we were alone, but in about an hour people pulled up and the cafe was filled with visitors. In general, there is a very warm feeling, so I recommend the place to visit)
Delicious kharcho, basic khinkali, no tax is added to the bill, all prices are as in the menu (nice). You can observe the color :)
Well, any - price / quality. I recommend you to visit :)
Delicious food and fairly low prices for this area, decent kharcho soup and kebab, as well as salads. Phali didn't like it very much. It's also a little frustrating that salads and snacks are already served in advance on plates under plastic wrap.
I do not recommend it! 👎
We went to the positive reviews, turned a blind eye to the negative ones, which we regretted. It's really not Racha, but SRACHA. You go into the basement, it's very noisy and there are a lot of people. It's very hot at the entrance, all the heat comes out of the kitchen through a draft. The toilet is in poor condition, corresponds to the name of the institution. You need to order at the checkout. All the staff is absolutely not interested, you pay money when ordering, maybe that's why they don't want to serve further. We ordered khachapuri, mushroom and meat (just khinkali on the menu) khinkali, homemade red semi-sweet wine: 40 GEL. Khachapuri is not bad; mushroom khinkali is very spicy; meat is quite tasty, but it seemed to me that there was very little meat; we did not like the wine, someone wrote here that this is a good wine, the concept, of course, is extensible. But you can compare it with wine out of the box, which was popular in the 2000s, and someone probably still has it.
The worst thing is: khachapuri was brought in 5-10 minutes, and everything else… We waited for 40 minutes. It was a hard day, we were very tired. We were hungry. We had to be reminded several times about our order, but we were just told to wait. At the same time, they asked to remind the order and the table. Even the wine was not brought to khachapuri
It was a big disappointment, while we were waiting for the order, several companies and families ate a hearty meal at the next table. I don't understand, the fact is that we are Russians, or maybe we didn't order enough? There was hostility from the staff. 👎
We were there last year, music is playing noisily, low prices, fun, a lot of people. In general, the atmosphere of Georgia.
This year we arrived, no music is playing, only tourists are sitting, prices are raised, khachapuri and various pastries were removed, only 2 types of khinkali were left: cheese and meat, no taste, little meat, little cilantro, small size. They left disappointed
The only thing that tastes good here is Tarragon from a bottle. Ojahuri with French fries, are you serious?! The meat is not chewy at all. This is the only tasteless cafe during my entire Georgian vacation
A nice and peaceful place. I go out of season and eat at this place all the time. The dishes are without drying and very tasty! If you want something special and haute cuisine, then you are not here! In this place, only at home and with a local flavor! Delicious, pleasant and homely. thank you!!!
Terrible wine!!! They say it's saperavi, but it tastes more like isabella. White is not ice either. The only place where I couldn't eat onions in a salad because it was too salty. Khinkali is normal, but nothing special. If you love wine, don't even look here! There's some kind of low-quality gibberish here instead of wine!
A democratic cafe in terms of prices and service. The food is delicious, homemade wine for an amateur. The decor is simple, no frills. If you just go in for a snack, it's fine.
Come here for real delicious hinkals, and incredible khachapuri. Just don't order olivier, it's different from ours. Payment in cash. There is wine and chacha
For 32 lari I took a pork kebab, dolma, bread, sauce and Coca Cola. The food is delicious, but not full. There is a toilet. I would come here again. The service is minimal, but it is a budget cafe
Not a place, but a find. In terms of price-quality ratio, it is unfairly cheap for such delicious food. Khinakali, khachapuri, ajapsandali, lobiani are so delicious here that I wanted to come back here, even after a full stomach. The hostess, this is the personification of this place, a seemingly stern and sullen woman, was already kind to us on our third visit and even smiled!! So is the place, unremarkable from the outside, but when you get here for the second or third time (and you are guaranteed to return here), you understand the sincerity and family of the place. My wildest advice is lobio in a pot.
Plus: delicious lemonade from a bottle)
Cons: it smells like a regular diner, the food matches! Odjahuri of smelly pork and French fries was very surprised(((
And the kitchen workers sitting in the hall are nonsense! ((
Keep it up !!! Unfortunately, the turnover of visitors helps to stay afloat (((
A place of worship for us... We accidentally found out about him before our first visit to Georgia and since then we have not forgotten to drop by every visit. A lot of changes have happened both in the interior and in the staff, but the atmosphere is still worth a visit. Khinkali, fried capelin, chacha - everything is on the level!
Pros: friendly staff, everyone speaks Russian, khinkali is inexpensive (1.5 liters), even delicious with meat. It's better not to take it with cheese.
Cons: well, it's very stuffy, there are piles of flies everywhere)
Surprisingly, there was a decent cafe with low prices in the old part of Tbilisi, if you are a connoisseur of home comfort, delicious wine, hinkals and a lover of sitting in Wi-Fi, it is definitely worth a look
