The perfect place
["the undoubted pearl of the square is the singing fountains - some of the most beautiful that I have seen (and I have seen both in Dubai and in Winperl - there is something to compare it with) - a variety of music - classical, popular, and folk - and performances go on in a row (and not once an hour as in Dubai) - you can enjoy the performance for exactly half an hour"] to remember the difference between the Republic and the Federation!
I visited Republic Square in Yerevan - it's a really impressive place!
The first thing that catches your eye is the grandiose size of the area (about 30,000 sq. m. meters). To understand the scale, 50,000 people were quietly accommodated here during the papal prayer in 2016.
The main “highlight” of the square is, of course, the singing fountains. They are open from 21:00 to 23:00 (from April to the end of October). The performance is simply amazing - jets of water soar 50 meters to the music. By the way, these fountains became pioneers in the USSR - they began to “sing” back in 1971!
During the day, the square also deserves attention, although it looks more modest. There are several important administrative buildings built of light tuff. The building of the former Council of National Economy (now the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia) is particularly impressive - its facade looks very solemn.
Practical details:
There are five streets leading to the square.
Nearby there is a beautiful pool called “Seven Springs” with drinking water.
The 2800th Anniversary of Yerevan Park with original fountain lighting is a 5-7-minute walk away.
Of the advantages:
Majestic architecture
Amazing Fountain evening show
Convenient location
Historical significance
Of the cons:
There is a lot of car traffic during the day
Roundabouts can be inconvenient.
I definitely recommend visiting the square twice: in the afternoon to appreciate the architecture, and in the evening to see the fountain show. This is one of the most iconic places in Yerevan, which is definitely not to be missed.
5 out of 5 stars - must-visit!
A very beautiful square with a fountain that "sings" from 20:00 every day in the "summer season" except Mondays 🙌🏻
There is an art gallery and a historical and archaeological museum, as well as the Armenian Government and the Marriott Hotel.
It's beautiful here both when you walk and when you drive a car through it. 🙌🏻
Walking routes around the city begin from here . The most popular is through Abovyan Street along Severny Avenue and to the Cascade .
Republic Square in Yerevan is one of the most impressive and symbolic places in Armenia. It combines a rich history, national identity and a modern urban spirit. Tasteless street beggars with their songs from the 80s interfere with the atmosphere and sell flowers, they don't even sell but rush so that they can't pass, but there are exceptions and there are many good peppers who show their talent
Yerevan is a gorgeous city, the square is the heart of Yerevan. Nice place, spacious, beautiful and well maintained. Beautiful trees, buildings and fountains.
It is especially chic to visit there in the evening with the "singing" fountains working.
It's a beautiful place, very beautiful
There are many stylish and delicious restaurants, there is also the main gallery of Yerevan on the square itself, I advise you to go for enlightenment and study of the ancient history of Armenia
A beautiful square, majestic buildings, a huge fountain, it's very beautiful in the evening, even if it's not in season. It would be nice to take a walk if it weren't for the intrusive private guides who start talking about love and friendship between nations, and then start selling private tours.
A very beautiful place in Yerevan. For me, the most beautiful place in this city. Past the square, there is also a small park nearby, very beautifully decorated in New Year's time, and next to it is another beautiful place called Vernissage with a small alley, beautiful and decorated also in New Year's time.
An incredibly beautiful place..It's always crowded, but it doesn't bother you. Beautiful place, architecture, lots of greenery and a cool overview of the city..There are a lot of benches, you can sit and relax
A huge area. The fundamental buildings are made of beautiful tuff. Mount Ararat is visible through the arch of one building. Next to the park there are shopping malls with handicrafts of the local people: Turks, chess, knives, gold and silver. By the way, the local Belmondo guide said that the clock on the tower was installed during the war in 1941
A wonderful, cozy place for walking and relaxing. The heart of Yerevan! Its central part. Musical fountains, beautiful architecture, lots of cozy cafes nearby!
The very center of Yerevan with beautiful pink stone buildings, fountains and within walking distance of the Republic Square metro station, Vernissage and Khachkars Square. It's a great place for photos.

This is not the first time we have been vacationing in Armenia and we would like to be impressed by the central square of Yerevan. Walking along Republic Square, you are amazed by the beauty and monumentality of the buildings, the fragrant air of flowers in flower beds and mown grass, as well as the purity and sound of rustling water from fountains and during watering of lawns. All roads in Yerevan lead to Republic Square, you just need to come and see and feel everything for yourself.
It 's very beautiful and fundomental . Everything is decorated with taste, there are many cafes and restaurants. I liked that they were singing all around, just playing different instruments very professionally and beautifully. And it's all harmonious.
There are also delicious restaurants there. And even closer there are parks where they sell historical items and architectural monuments. This center is closer to all the attractions.
The spectacular and large-scale square is designed by the great architect A. Tamanyan, there are 5-star hotels, restaurants, cafes on the square, the national gallery is also located on the square, singing fountains play in the evenings, etc
It's very impressive! While on a business trip to a conference, we were offered a Marriott. It's right on the Square. Convenient location! Everything you need and interesting is within walking distance
There were both summer and winter. Lighting adds to the feeling of antiquity. It's always crowded, the atmosphere of a big family. Definitely worth a visit, preferably in the evening.
It's a very beautiful place. There is a Christmas tree in winter. In summer, it is a great place for walking. There is an art gallery, shops, and cafes with restaurants nearby.
It's a very beautiful, crowded place. We filmed a panorama, listened to music and enjoyed the view of musical fountains. Clear. Be sure to visit if you come to the city for a visit.
One of the main attractions of Yerevan. It's always crowded and noisy here. In the evening, the buildings around the square are beautifully illuminated. There are benches to sit on, to watch people rushing to where
It is a beautiful place, surrounded by many delicious restaurants and comfortable hotels. There are many cars inside the square offering guided tours. Especially in the evening, the square comes alive from the flow of tourists, regardless of the day of the week.
When you're in the city center, it feels like you're somewhere in Europe. Cleanliness, well-groomed, beautiful trees and buildings. And of course the delicious restaurants around the square. It's a pleasure to walk here
One of the most beautiful places in the city. There are famous singing fountains, a historical museum, an art gallery, a museum of literature and art. There are many cafes and restaurants near the square, where you can not only relax, but also taste dishes of national cuisine and cuisine of other countries. The architecture of the tuff buildings is striking in its harmony and national ornament. All this beauty was created according to the project of the famous Armenian architect Alexander Tamanyan, whose monument is located on the Cascade.
It's a wonderful, beautiful place. A very beautiful dancing fountain. It's beautiful at night in a double, the lights of the night city are mesmerizing. The architecture of the buildings is very beautiful.
The central square of Yerevan is very beautiful, especially on holidays! There are many excellent restaurants and boutiques around the square. To get acquainted-absolutely!
The main square in terms of importance and beauty in Yerevan. The inspection must be included in the program. Other significant sights are nearby everywhere. There are excellent restaurants nearby, the Armenian History Museum
A wonderful and Excellent location, parking right at the Government House
And on the opposite side there are boutiques and coffee shops, tours of Armenia
If you have Russian state license plates, park your car right outside the government house, it's always safe there, cameras and police officers are always nearby.
It's beautiful both in the afternoon and in the evening, there are always a lot of people, fountains and beautiful lighting in the evening, many cafes and restaurants. Grab an ice cream and take a walk around the square, sit with a view of the fountains.
Especially in the evening, the square has a magical atmosphere! Musical fountains and beautiful tuff buildings create a magical atmosphere! There are always a lot of locals and tourists!
Anyone who has ever come to Yerevan could not help but visit Republic Square. This is the city center and a must-visit place. Yerevan residents themselves also love this place. A central Christmas tree is being erected here, rallies and concerts are taking place. It's nice to be here and walk along the surrounding streets and boulevards.
