An interesting historical place that may seem inconspicuous at first glance. Well, ruins and ruins. What's wrong with them?
But if you look a little on the Internet, you can find out that Pitiunt was built in the first century BC by the Greeks and was part of the Kingdom of Pontus (just imagine this antiquity — the first century BC!). When it was taken away by the Romans, an eight-meter wall was erected here. And now it's a completely different era here.
It's hard to imagine that almost two thousand years ago there was a real Roman garrison here. And even more impressive is that it still looks better than some of the modern buildings of the city. The locals don't seem to notice these grandiose ruins. Although, as for me, this should be almost the main object of the city.
We drove past, it's not even clear where to come from. Like most places in Abkhazia, I was not impressed. There is dirt and debris everywhere, they did not look for an entrance, they drove on.
