A traditional American two-story motel, solid, but quite expensive in order to just take a shower from the road and spend only a few hours of sleep in it. It cost us $145 plus a lot of local taxes. The high cost is obviously due to the advantageous location: on highway 101 about halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco in a very picturesque place of San Louis Obispo (according to the assurance of a Russian American woman walking dogs on the coast, this town is recognized by polls as the second best place in the world to live, which is readily believed). The windows of all rooms overlook the courtyard, so that you can greet your neighbors on occasion, and not let the parked car out of sight. A small floral-green area, even with a tiny swimming pool, although there were no people who wanted to swim either at night or in the morning. The rooms are small, but clean and quite cozy, equipped with everything you need, except for a tea/coffee set, which travelers would be in great demand: after stopping at the motel around midnight, we could not find a single place in the area where we could bask in hot tea. The reception/lobby and the breakfast included in the room rate are the same motel room. Continental breakfast from 7 a.m. – cereal with milk, biscuits, orange juice, coffee. That's it! Russian Russian, as the lady who entered the closet with her husband unexpectedly said in pure Russian (after greeting in English, of course), after looking at the meager assortment with disappointment: "Somehow this is not Russian! It's good that I still have some pies left. Zhenya, don't drink this coffee, or you'll suffer later on the road!" But we still had breakfast with juice and coffee with cupcakes – without unnecessary suffering and consequences – and set off on our way.
