Florence is beautiful! Leaving the Santa Maria Novella train station, you find yourself at the temple of the same name. It is worth crossing the road and in front of you is the church in all its glory. Horse racing (palio) took place in the square in front of the temple, just 500 years ago, and Cosimo I de' Medici himself watched them from the Loggia San Paolo, which is opposite the church at the opposite end of the square. At school at this church, Dante listened to Thomas Aquinas in the 70s of the 13th century. Florence is such a deep dive into history, from which you do not want to get to the surface. The buildings of the abbeys and churches of the 10th and 12th centuries are a common place. The 15th century is a new building. I want to come back here again and again.
