An interesting atmospheric place, great for filming and excursions. The entire tourist infrastructure is nearby: 4-5* hotels, cafes, restaurants, old pastry shops, two Christian shrines, Istiklal sleepless street and much more.
Taksim is a must-visit place. Noisy, lots of street food places. In the center is the Monument of the Republic, where the Soviet figure Voroshilov was not forgotten. Visit, find it.
We passed by a hundred times until I asked about the history of this monument. Therefore, I advise you to familiarize yourself first and you will look at it with different eyes.

The monument is located in the very center of Taksim Square, next to the mosque. There is also the final stop of the red rare tram, which runs from Taksim Square along the Kremlin Street. It is a very crowded place, popular with both tourists and the local population. Near the monument to the Republic there is an entrance to the metro and an entrance to the tunnel, where you can take city buses.
A beautiful square! It's better to live somewhere nearby! The famous Istiklal Street starts right there! And there is a subway that goes to the center in Fatih!
In the central part of Istanbul, on Taksim Square, this monument was erected in 1928 by the Italian architect Pietro Canonica. It symbolizes the liberating army and the establishment of the republic. In the central plan is the "Leader of the people" Ataturk, accompanied by associates of Mustafa Ismet Inenyu and Fevzi Chakmak, as well as ordinary people. And on his left side, Kliment Voroshilov (who does not know - a Soviet military, state and party figure) and Semyon Aralov - one of the first heads of foreign intelligence of the young Soviet Republic, and an extremely ambiguous personality in those years. These Soviet people got to Monument 2 on the instructions of Ataturk as a sign of gratitude for the political, military and financial assistance provided by Soviet Russia in the cause of Turkey's independence in 1923. And it turns out that this is the only monument to Aralov, and even then in Turkey. By the way, Ataturk promised Lenin that for his support Turkey would become part of communist Russia. But... It was just a trick.
The area is like a square. But this is the best place to start the route along Istiklal Street, because you have to go down the whole way, and not the other way around.
